Great customer service! I am currently in town for short stay. It's snowing and freezing outside. I came in right on the clock of their closing time. They still took me in. The place is clean, friendly staffs, food is good enough. I see other yelpers comparing the taste to authentic pho place. If you want authentic pho, go to Vietnam. I appreciate those owners tried their best to bring tastes to here from Asia. It's very difficult and most of the people are not aware. The regulations, the ingredients, and managing restaurant are all different. Even Michelin star restaurants don't earn all their star based on the taste of the food. I ordered a grilled pork bahn mi and the vermicelli deluxe broken rice. The flavors were fine, however both the pork and beef were extremely fatty to the point that I couldn't enjoy. I prefer lean meat vs chewing on multiple chunks of fat. Maybe this is the norm for this type of cuisine? read more

Coming from an actual Vietnamese person, I was quite impress with the food. Normally good authentic viet food comes out of south Philly. So I was already skeptical about this location. But after trying their rice platter, vermicelli platter, and pho I would say they are on par with some of the south Philadelphia Vietnamese restaurants. This place is at a prime location and very close to the Narberth train station. I really enjoyed their vegetarian pho but the second time I got a tofu banh-mi to go from there and it was less than ideal. There was no sauce element to it and the tofu was dry and greasy. Just ok. Some good some bad. Good: Nice hostess and staff. Clean and well renovated interior. If anything maybe a little too modern and sterile so it lacked a little homeyness but i can't fault that. Got special pho, pork summer rolls, and tamarind wings. Good: Pho broth was decent. Maybe a little light on star anise and spices but well developed. Good: Rare beef and fatty beef were good...standard thin sliced meats and well portioned. Tendon was very good. Had just the right softness and no crunch but held together. Good quantity of rice noodles and not over cooked. Good amount of Thai basil and sprouts and jalapeño. Bad: tripe in pho was not well enough soaked and cleaned so it retained too much barnyard flavor. Good: summer rolls had a good amount of herbs and peanut sauce was nicely made. Bad: the tamarind wings...inedible...one bite and the taste and smell of turned/old chicken permeated my sinuses. Wife concurred. Immediately told the server and he took them back to the kitchen. Came out and told us that the flavor was just to their taste and how they should be but that they would remove the cost from our bill. Now, my wife works in the restaurant business and is from Southeast Asia, and i am extremely familiar with food and Vietnamese cuisine...use tamarind regularly in my kitchen, and we both know turned chicken when we smell/taste it. Disappointed that the chef couldn't tell or wouldn't admit. Bad: table had sriracha, hoisin, and sambal, but no chili oil. When we requested chili oil, we were informed that Vietnamese food shouldn't be served with chili oil and that it is a Cantonese condiment. Come on. I have been to the region numerous times, and had hundreds of Vietnamese meals and that's hogwash. Just say you don't serve it or it's not your personal style...but don't make stuff up and claim it as fact. Overall, average food with some good and some bad. I have never liked pho, so I was hesitant to try Pholosophy but I am so glad I did. The menu has a lot on it beyond pho. I ordered the fried wontons which were light and crispy. They were stuffed with a large amount of shrimp and cane with a terrific sweet and sour sauce. I followed this with a grilled chicken banh mi sandwich. It cane with perfectly marinated and grilled chicken topped with carrots, cucumbers and other veg. The roll was crispy and delicious. And the portions were perfect. My dining partner had shrimp and pork pho and declared it the best he ever had. I will definitely be back. read more

Well deserved recognition as Philly's best new Vietnamese Restaurant. Pho is flavorful with great rice noddles. Summer roll with shrimp and pork quite nice as an appetizer. If I could give this place a 0, I would. I've tried them before and the food was just solid and nothing to complain about. Decided to give them a try again and I'll definitely never come back. I ordered takeout through Grubhub. Once I got home and opened the container, I was instantly met with this rotten, ammonia smell. After some digging, I found the culprit. The meat within my pho was slimy and rotten. I'm honestly not sure how they themselves could put together the pho and not smell it. That's how bad it smelled. I had the deluxe broken rice. It came with shrimp, pork chop, chicken, and rice topped with sunny side up egg. The egg was a little over cooked on the side but the pork chop was really good. However the people who work there or the owners whoever they were, were not very nice they seemed a bit prejudice they never ask was i OK but they asked the table next to me with the white people were they OK. They never even offered me a glass of water but offered the white people a glass of water. I ordered take out (#20 pho) after my yoga class and this new Vietnamese restaurant did not disappoint!! First, I LOVE how they separate your soup, noodles, side vegetables (lime, basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeño), and the sauce. It is so clean and easy to put together without being super messy! Pretty decent Vietnamese joint, particularly for being local in Narberth. We ordered takeout this time and have been there to eat inside a few times before the pandemic hit. The staples like the hoagies, pho, and fried rolls are decent. I've also have their short rib platter a few times and thought that it was good, I was interested in trying the Vietnamese style since I'm partial of Asian ribs, particularly Galbi/Korean style, and thought the seasoning was tasty. One thing I would Not recommend is the Beef Cubes, as the version here is not like the more traditional marinade and more like a more generic pepper steak from an American Chinese style restaurant. It was okay but for better Beef Cubes go to Nam Phuong since they have a local spot now in Ardmore. Overall decent quality Vietnamese right at home in Narberth, we'll be back for sure. read more

My husband and I came here on opening night. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and checked in on us frequently. We had the summer rolls and tamarind wings as appetizers. The tamarind wings had such an amazing flavor. Highly recommended. The summer rolls were also delicious. I prefer them a little more tightly wrapped so that they're easier for dipping, but the favor was great. My husband got the pork banh mi. He thought the flavor was on point and everything worked well within the sandwich. Only con he said was that the bread was a little too flaky. I got the build your own pho. LOVE the concept. Broth was delightful. Only con, could have used a couple more noodles. The manager young woman was fantastic. We can't wait until her art events are posted for the restaurant! read more

Granted, I only had one lunch here so far, but it was impressive. The thit nuong (grilled pork) bahn mi was spot on. Light Vietnamese baguette.. Check. Homemade mayo, julienned carrots, daikon, Check. Jalapeños and cilantro, Check. Slightly sweet yet savory seared bits of tender pork. Check, Check. At $7.95, it's a bit pricier than you'll pay in Upper Darby, but then so is the Narberth real estate. Pho was a big bowl that you can customize (so if you are not a fan of tendon or tripe, you can pick your protein.) I went for rare steak (eye round) and fatty brisket (it was.) Which is OK because I'm on a keto diet (YEAH.. I KNOW the bahn-mi is off limits. Sue me. So I only ate a fraction of the noodles (which were perfect.) I've had heartier broth, but it was plenty good, and fiery from the added jalapeños and chili oil, so certainly didn't lack in flavor. I was pretty stuffed from the sammie, so just finished the meat, broth and onions, and to my surprise, lost a pound overnight in spite of the expected baguette penalty. Iced Vietnamese coffee was perfect. Service was extremely attentive, and every effort was made to ensure I wasn't intimidated by the authenticity (I was offered a fork, etc.) My server was also the chef, and he took great pains to correct my awful pronunciations, going as far as to write out the syllables on a napkin to match common English words. I will return to test the theory that bahn-mi baguettes have zero net carbs.. or perhaps see if the broken rice has similar keto-defying properties. Anyway, it's Vietnamese that equals any that you'll find in South or Northeast Philly in the quaint borough of Narberth. Save on gas, and you'll break even. read more

Best pho in town! Really amazing food. Our favorites other than pho are the grilled sandwiches and meat dishes. It has that chargrilled flavor that we love. Amazing staff too. The wait staff might seem a bit on the quiet side, but he remembers all our preferences, even after a whole year of not dining in due to covid. We have a lot of preferences too, like cooked bean sprouts, hot oil sauce on the side, hot tea, extra napkins and then some more specifics depending on what we order. D is usually our waiter and he gets everything ready for us even before we ask. They have amazing food and stellar service! What more can you ask for in a local restaurant. read more

Great bahn mi and rolls but the way the pho is listed is very confusing. I was told on previous visits that the vegetable soups would come with vegetable broth. Apparently the tofu and vegetable comes with chicken broth and the vegan pho comes with vegetable broth. Very confusing and not well listed on Caviar app but it is listed on the main menu at the restaurant. Still like the place but would advise people to be very precise in ordering online. read more

As a loyal customer to the original pho institution, PHOEVER YOURS, i went to pholosophy to compare. the soup was less flavorful and authentic, there is too much meat in the meat per soup ratio, and the appetizers cannot hold a candle to PHOEVER YOURS expansive and ever updating menu with seasonal specials. the only positive review of pholosophy is that it's a larger space. but if you want to eat pho, you should go to PHO EVER YOURS. read more
