I sent a message via Yelp on a Sunday night and they immediately scheduled our oven troubleshooting for Monday afternoon. Their front office staff is incredibly responsive! George (technician) arrived timely and was very thorough. He explained things to me every step of the way. He is approaching this very methodically - ok, so it's not the igniter, let's look at the next link in the chain... I saw George called out by name in other Yelp reviews, and I understand why he comes so highly recommended! He called the manufacturer to discuss his findings, but the manufacturer tech team wasn't available. He let me know he would be calling them again in the morning and that he would reach out to me with an update. I've had plenty of negative or so-so experiences with other service technicians from other companies. This experience with George / Astera is so positive that I'm posting my review even before the service is completed. Astera will be getting first crack at all of my appliance and HVAC service calls going forward.

Our technician quickly identified the issue and rather than try and sell us a new furnace, they made adjustments that they said would get us back in shape. It worked. This is the second time Ibbotson has been out and both times, Ibbotson addressed the issue for far less than we feared we'd have to pay. We're not kidding ourselves. We understand we are on borrowed time with this furnace but rather than exploit the situation we had a good, educational talk with our technician about ultimately replacing our system and given honest answers and solid options. I appreciate Ibbotson's integrity, professionalism and confidence. No high pressure sell. They know we'll be back when we're ready to take the next step.

The technician spent two long hours diagnosing the issue, ultimately concluding that my ecobee thermostat was faulty. I purchased and installed a new thermostat based on this assessment. Unfortunately, a week later, my furnace stopped working again. This time, the issue was identified as a faulty blower motor, indicating that the original diagnosis was incorrect and the thermostat replacement was unnecessary. When I contacted Ibbotson's to request a refund for the thermostat, I was informed that they do not offer refunds on installed parts. While I understand the company's policy, I was disappointed that the initial diagnosis was inaccurate, resulting in an unnecessary expense. The two-hour diagnostic period, coupled with the service call fee, resulted in a significant cost. While I appreciate the prompt response to my initial call, I believe there's room for improvement in the diagnostic process. Accurate and thorough assessments are crucial for providing customers with effective solutions. I hope this feedback can be used to enhance the quality of service provided in the future.
