Is it just for the soccer moms and the owner? My second experience was an al fresco lunch with my wife and children. While the outdoor dining in Arlington Heights is always top notch, the service and food was again not up to par. I ordered a doppio and was served an entire mug of espresso. Our server then decided to argue that I was indeed served a doppio, revealing that this establishment does not educate their servers on basic fluidic measurements in the very industry they work in, nor do they train their servers to speak honestly or respectfully to customers when their errors are brought to their attention. The food was also not worth the price. Scratchboard Kitchen is a subpar establishment that brings in third party food cooked offsite to remix into something they claim is "made from scratch" simply because they reheat it with a few eggs. Their waitstaff is unable and unwilling to understand one of the most fundamental pours in coffee and would rather lie to customers instead of simply admitting they weren't properly trained. There are better eats in the area for cheaper. Avoid.

It had a good flavor w/ a nice kick of heat from the habañero aioli (but not spicy in the typical habañero flavor sense). The pulled pork was delicious in taste and texture along with the toppings of muenster cheese, the habañero aioli, red peppers, red onions, and avocado. I should've eaten only one half of the sandwich but I couldn't resist having more, so I finished it. The panini was darn delicious. I liked the restaurant's cozy dining area with outside light coming in. They have a nice patio area as well which would be perfect to sit at on a nice weather day. The couple next to us got ramen, and it was practically overflowing. We ordered takoyaki (too much food, we didn't need). I had the Pork Katsu bowl and my companion had a Katsu curry. I wished I had ordered the curry -- it looked dark and rich and thick like pudding (not like a boxed curry). They also gave us a bonus piece of chicken karaage which was so large and crispy. I think I'll get the curry next time, or the ramen. We originally came because we were going to get a karaage sando, but get the curry.
