I will say there's a couple other pho places in the area that have menus a bit more robust, that feel more varied. This feels like if you've had two of their rice dishes, one of their banh mi and one of their noodle soups, you've more or less got the feel of the whole place. That said, if I'm hungry and just need a hit of something familiar and comforting, this is a great option. If I'm hungover, or sick, or having a trash kind of day, and I want something to just get me through or over it, this will always do the trick. I've ordered just quarts of their pho broth before, home sick and trying to get anything at all in me, and been perfectly pleased. I don't think it's THE BEST pho broth I've ever had, but it's really good, and it's consistent. I know exactly what everything I get is going to taste like, it's never too salty one day, too much this or that the next day, oily all of a sudden, any of that. It's good, it's cozy feeling, the people are pleasant, and there's no surprises. That's pretty good eating.

Went to Pho Yen Phi with good expectations, and left disappointed for several reasons. Overpriced, smallish portions, some menu items unavailable, and by a long shot the super salt-iest soy sauce ever come across. Started with spring rolls with peanut sauce. This was the par/decent item of the meal. The waiter informed us they only had one type of soup stock available that evening, so it erased the original desire to go there and get a big bowl of soup. I opted instead for some soft noodles with vegetables. The taste was okay, but the portion was significantly smaller than other Asian restaurants which are easy to find in the Metroplex. My daughter's staple at Asian places is chicken fried rice. She enjoys it with soy sauce, and put the standard amount on her rice that she always does. I took a couple of bites to try it, and it was stunningly ultra ultra sodium/salt flavored. To the point I would have stopped eating if it was my dish. We examined the soy sauce bottle, which had no label and seemed lighter in color than we've seen. Don't know if they make their own soy sauce, by chance, but whatever the case it is EXTREMELY salty so be aware if you go here. To cap things off, the meal cost considerably more than it should have. Two people: one spring roll appetizer, one noodle dish, one fried rice dish, one lemonade (and one water). $24. I know they have to pay their light bill, and have no issue with that, but based on the experience, lack of food quality and lack of food availability, that price was ridiculous. The waiter was genuinely warm and friendly and glad to serve us, but his congeniality wasn't enough to offset several setbacks and issues with our giving the restaurant a try. Will not be back. Tried it once, and already know of numerous other places within a few miles of here where there is much better Asian food for a much better price. read more

PYP is a very simple looking place like most of the Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I liked a little partition as you walk-in secluding the people sitting on the right. There is a good-seized plant to greet you and mirrors on one of the walls made it feel somewhat different. The place looks small but has large number of tables to pack quite a crowd. The waiters were attentive and prompt and choices are plentiful. Got the Veggie and Tofu pho. The rice noodle was cooked perfectly and tofu pieces were sliced thin and longitudinal. It had a lot of greens and broth was alright. Although, I forgot to mention the veg broth which by the way they have, I would have appreciated if they had pointed out the kind of broth they use it for veggie pho. Sometimes, I can't understand all these SE Asian and far East food which they call Veggie pho, veggie ramen, veggie this and veggie that but either its broth is based upon pork or beef or there is always some bits and pieces of meat or fish; why can't they make something purely vegetarian? Anyway, between the baby bok choy, carrots, and broccoli, they provided a nice crunch in between those silky noodles and hot broth, although I would have loved to find some mushrooms. For a large Pho, I felt like it had little less noodles, nonetheless, it was quite fulfilling when I was done. This is your stereotypical dump of strip mall, Pho joint. Clearly holds hard feelings towards Americans from Nam. No apologies or a manager visit. Pretty sure the meatball was made out of dog, didn't have the decency to remove all the hair either as there were long stragglers floating around.
