I was passing through San Antonio Thursday evening and stopped for gas when I saw this Gem. It's my understanding that they had only opened days before. From the excellent service to some of the best Pho I've ever had you wouldn't have known that. For the first time in my life I had Pho with Grilled Chicken. Man was it good! I got to meet the owner who I observed watching me as I asked for chili oil and added my condiments to my bowl. The servers came by and asked was there anything else I need a couple of times right on time. Later the Owner came by and asked if I liked spicy. He had me to try a Broth that was out of this world good, as well as the Curry. Outstanding. I have no idea when I'll be going through San Antonio again, but if I do I'll definitely be going back to this to this Restaurant. I had the rest of the Broth to go and drank it in the Road like Coffee lol. Outstanding! read more

Came here for dinner. First item I ordered were shrimp egg rolls. Before they arrived we were given a cup of curry. Killer stuff. It was a coconut milk and and a nice after heat. Definitely 5 stars for this stuff. Then the egg rolls arrived. 6 small rolls each wrapped around a shrimp. The tail was left out so it had a small handle. Really good. I had the pork and shrimp and my date had lemon chicken. And there was a lot. Both were very tasty. The only reason this is not 5 stars is someone smelled like a Marlboro. I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure it was the guy who served us. If like to go back but I'll see. The food was righteous. And the price was decent. read more

Tonight was my first visit and I know I will be back! Pho is my favorite food and I try different restaurants often. I have never had pho made with such lean beef and the broth was so good! The customer service I received today was unbelievably unhelpful. I ordered orange chicken, that was basically orange sauce and breaded chicken. And my total was $11.85. It obviously wasn't worth that much, so I called to get a refund or at least replaced. The manager Kathy did not offer either one and said sorry and explained there wasn't much she could do. The food is very tasty and flavourful, Although I did not care for the crab Rangoon it was too onion tasting for my taste as they add fresh chives and not enough cream cheee so the chives overpower in the flavor department. The staff is friendly but extremely slow when it came to taking our order, It wasn't busy at all maybe 6 other tables. We had to wait approximately 10 minutes for someone to take our order and that was because I had to stare down one of the servers lol. This takeout was perfect for the cool weather. I now know that I have yummy pho just down the street! I was a bit apprehensive as I read a review that said the broth was not good... Wrong. It was perfectly seasoned. The seafood was good and fresh. There was also imitation crab in the mix . All of it combined with the toppings and sauce made for the perfect combo. First time trying Pho and Grill, I really wanted to enjoy it but most of the flavors were bland. The Pho Ga broth was hard to swallow because I felt it lacked flavor (after adding jalapenos, basil, and cilantro), I had to add soy sauce and the chicken was generous but the chunks were large and thick. The noodles in my pho all had different textures... some hard and soggy. The curry dish was alright, the grilled pork plate was a definite hit, and the shrimp egg rolls were my favorite! There was definitely more Vietnamese food than Chinese or Thai. That didn't bother me of course. I was curious about their pho offerings so I got the pho dac biet. It has beef, meatballs, and tripe. The broth was ok. Better than most places. But not as good as my moms. It was really rich and had a lot depth. For being restaurant pho- not bad. I wish they gave me more meat though. This is always a problem I have when I order pho. More meat! If they put in more meat I think $10 would be reasonable. But when it is just broth and noodles, I don't think it's fair. The vegetables that came with the pho were fine. Not wilted. Jalapeños were fresh and so were the limes and Thai basil. We also ordered a beef and lemongrass skewer appetizer. It was very flavorful. The beef skewers rested on a bed crunchy julienned carrots. Service was quite good. It wasn't too busy despite being peak lunch. I think that may be because it's new. I imagine it will pick up soon. Overall, not bad. I would come back and try some of the other noodle dishes. read more

Pho & Grill is a pan Asian restaurant that seems like a family operation, with a decent selection of vegetarian options. I visited for lunch during the week and ordered a tofu and vegetable stir fried noodle dish. I don't remember the exact name, but some employees recommended it! The dish included tofu, broccoli, carrots, and mushrooms, stir fried with thin noodles. The dish wasn't very good. The mushrooms don't quite fit the dish, and the carrots tasted mushy, which was a weird texture for a stir fried dish. The amount of tofu and broccoli was nice, but the tofu was quite plain, and had this strange aftertaste. The noodles themselves were nice - I found myself ignoring most of the dish and digging around for the noodles. If I return, I'll have to try another vegetarian dish - they're conveniently located in a single section! read more

This was our first visit, I wanted to enjoy the food as the servers and owners were cordial and friendly. However, the food was disappointing. We ordered the Shrimp Egg Rolls, Thai Tea, Beef Pho, and Special Rice Plate. The shrimp egg rolls were piping hot, and pretty tasty, and the thai tea was pretty delicious as well. The first issue however, was the rice plate. The menu stated that the dish was to come with a pork/egg cake, shredded pork skin, a pan fried egg, and a porkchop. When the order came out, there was no shredded pork skin- which my friend was specifically craving. We had to call the waiter over to bring attention to the fact that they forgot an item on our dish. The waiter then informed us that they ran out... So, they still decided to place our order in, and serve it to us without mentioning that it would be missing??... I guess they were hoping we wouldn't want it anyway... The egg cake that came with the order was dry and seemed to have been reheated multiple times. Next, the pho was very bland. All the meat products (the sliced beef) in the pho, and the pork chop from the rice had a lingering aftertaste that was off-putting. I'm unsure if this was due to reheated meat, or lack of fresh raw ingredients. The previous reviews on yelp definitely drew us in, but we will not be coming back. Summarily, most of the food we ordered was either old and reheated, or had an odd flavor. For $29, i'd expect all of our order to be included, but sadly it wasn't. read more

Owner is very involved and they make their own sauces. Very friendly and customer service is nice and sweet. I'm sort of new to the Thai thing, after experiencing Thai Dee I was hooked. I enjoyed my meal except it wasn't quite the right one for me. I liked the taste of the sauce and beef but didn't realize that the noodles are at the bottom, sort of flattened into a crispy slightly mushy pancake. Didn't like that. Pho was ok, but that's only because I'm from CA and there's some pretty tough benchmark pho location there. Banh xeo came out crispy but the filling with BBQ pork was a little different than usual. I like pork belly so didn't warm up to the BBQ pork but I understand why it was used. The veggie plate was very generous. Really steady flow of customers while we were there at 4 pm. The Pho here is very good. I had the Pho ga. I don't remember what my boyfriend had, but it was a popular beef based pho. Being the I love pho, I didn't even mind coming here with a super painful sore throat. The server was great and attentive, and the chief came out to greet us and make sure we were well taken care of.
