Service: Working in area and thought I would stop and get pho, I came in and one customer was inside, the gentleman, most likely the owner waved his hand I was not sure if he was telling me to get out or sit anywhere, he was very loud and did not seem happy, it was as if I were bothering him by coming in, but his wife was very sweet, many thank you's and came out to check on me and asked if I wanted anything else.. I know there were so many bad reviews or rather mediocre. However, I was craving pho, and when asking locals where to go eat, this restaurant was suggested. The service was alright. The person who showed us to our seats, who served us and cleaned up the table, didn't speak a word to us. She just acknowledged us with a smile. It was quite strange. I ordered the pho special and asked the person who took the order what was in it. Apparently, it's a combination of P11 & P12. Which had all the meat items that I like in my pho. The soup filled me up. The noodles are similar to what I get in a lot of pho items. The soup itself was a bit different. I tried a bit of the pork chop over rice, and it wasn't good. I stopped by this pho spot today and was genuinely impressed. The broth was rich and flavorful without being heavy, the kind of taste you know took hours to prepare. The reviews about this mysterious and intimidating "old lady" really needs further clarification. This "old lady" is not the allusion of some lady living in a retirement home or sitting on a porch in front of a lawn type of imagery. As a matter of fact, she's not even old. As for her being rude, yes - there was a bit of a reactive attitude, but there were reasons for all that in what we encountered during our visit. Our group witnessed a customer who wanted to breastfeed OUT IN THE OPEN so of course the boss had to speak up and asked, can you have a covering. So it became a bickering session, and the mother was crying that she was not being allowed to BF or some form of claim about human rights and all that. But my god, this is a public restaurant, have some courtesy, and yes, it is right to ask for a covering. No one said she wasn't allowed. So the boss took it that when customers are being bullies, you have to take a stand. Sure, the boss was a bit rough around the edges, but all these reviews already prepared walk-in customers to anticipate for some monstrosity of person that is about to erupt on them. So with that, it is not fair to come into this restaurant with a premeditated opinion and expectation that some MMA showdown is about to occur. When in actuality, customers just want to come in for PHO. Bottom line. Anyways, we were greeted by a very cordial waitress with braids, with excellent customer service and recommendations! There was one family that came in separately, and wanted to add chairs to their table, and blocked the pathway (fire hazard.) So the waitress mentioned that there was a table big enough for their group in the back, and there's no need to put chairs in an active path. That, I found to be weird it wasn't understood - so once again, a misunderstanding took place and the family thought they weren't welcomed. And of course, it was clear they were reading all these yelp reviews and was waiting for the boss to come out. The waitress was kind to explain it's a hazard, and they did not take it with any understanding or flexibility. Makes you wonder if customers are just testing the restaurant/owners/workers - it was just odd. So the boss came out, and said the same thing about blocking - and then they eventually moved to a different side. The family of maybe 6-8 - were reviewing the menus and had asked for recommendations for about 20 minutes (I know because we came in at the same time, and we were 3/4 done with our meals), and that group decided to get up and leave when they realized there weren't vegetarian dishes. (which was also bizarre since there were vegetable dishes available.) NOW - after all this - it seemed like people were just playing games. So I hope this is going to clarify some of the negative reviews. For the PHO, it was fine. Ordered apps and iced coffee, too. Everything was on point. We hope that customers would just overlook these reviews, and really focus on the food, and what really matters. Yes, the boss may be a bit abrupt but that's just part of the business package, especially with handling difficult customers. Sometimes you may get the brunt of it but just move on. I tried shrimp fried rice and pho. The best ever and I miss it now when I get home. I have read those reviews and was skeptical to come. I'm Vietnamese too and I would to clear this up is i culture thing sometimes people call on people to get things fast. I will come back and help them out for attitude issue the owner is so friend and the food is amazing and beyond. I love them both so much. Good food, but the service is not the best. Not willing to make any changes or substitutions. I asked for no pork but extra vegetables in the spring rolls and they said they don't know how to charge for extra vegetables so they can't do that. Shrimp Spring Rolls (shrimp only, no pork) were amazing! Really fresh and a good amount of shrimp. Spring rolls were also very big. We got two orders and did not regret it at all. The peanut sauce on the side was so good. We could have had that just by itself! I got the Shrimp Pho (P3) and it was good! Broth was smooth and flavorful and good amount of bean sprouts as well. Shrimp were quite large and nice. I asked for no noodles, and took some noodles from my husband. Husband got the Pho with Chicken Breast (P10) and definitely enjoyed that as well. The day we closed on our house we came thought we'd take our extended family out to eat to thank them for helping us move. We noticed the table we were seated at was sticky and smelly so I asked for it to be cleaned. My request was ignored. I asked again when we were asked what drinks we wanted. At that point, the waiter yelled something and gestured to another table. He then proceeded to yell loudly while walking away. A lady whom I presume to be the owner said something to him and he yelled at her to the point where the whole restaurant uncomfortably looked on. She came over and apologized. At that point, we decided to leave as it was disturbing to see blatant verbal abuse happening by this man to this woman. We ended up eating at Cafe Rio which is just across the parking lot. A relative recommended this place so I wish we could've tried it, but again the ambiance is one of fear and discomfort. read more

One piece of advice I would say is PLEASE go based off of the reviews for this "establishment". I wish me and my friends did. Truly the WORST service me and my friends have experienced in our lives. We came into the restaurant and were seated, 2 minutes after being seated the server, Tang, came up to us and said "What do you want" we were obviously not ready and quite truly caught off guard. I responded saying "Hi, can we just put in our appetisers for now". And he didn't even acknowledge me so unsure of what to do I just ordered the appetiser of the Crab Rangoon's. Once I ordered that, yet again, I was not acknowledged and he just walked away. Me and my friends already felt uncomfortable and unwelcome after that first impression. Then when we were ready to order he kept walking past us and ignoring us. Eventually, I told him we were ready to order and he rudely interrupted me saying, "Um one second (Puts a finger up towards me) we can't make you the Rangoon's". Again just shocked at the service, we just ordered the rest of our food. When ordering he didn't write any of our orders down and didn't acknowledge us yet again. He simply listened to our orders and then walked away. Once, the food came out it was at all at different times, I had my food 10 minutes before my other friend. But when my friend received her food she looked at it and noticed it was not what she wanted nor ordered. She thought she was getting egg noodles but they were this weird long styrofoam like noodles, rice noodles. So she tried calling the waiter, Tang, over again but he continued to ignore us and treat us so utterly unwelcoming. So eventually we got his attention, after multiple attempts, he came back to the table and my friend told him "Hey I don't think this is what I ordered". And then he rose his voice and aggressively said, "Well this is the rice noodles that you ordered". WE tried speaking up but we continuously got CUT OFF for him to continue saying we are wrong. And instead of him being understanding and offer her another dish for the inconvenience, he just had to be right. He grabbed the menu and said "No you are wrong this IS what you ordered" SO then my friend went to point at what she really wanted and he SWAT her hand away. At this point my friend shut down because she didn't know what to say and he was belittling her at this point, and the SERVICE WAS AWFUL!!! She didn't know what to say especially when he was being nothing but rude and just so arrogantly trying to prove her wrong. He eventually just walks away. So then we call over the owner and she is repeating similar things to him saying that if she wanted a new dish she would have to PAY FOR BOTH! So I spoke up explaining that based off the service and straight rudeness alone she should not have to pay for that original dish, especially when she never touched it. And I also made sure to get that waiters name and asked that he no longer served us for the rest of our lunch. Once my friend got her new dish, the noodles were NOT COOKED. And at this point we felt like such an inconvenience we chose not to speak up again. We were at the point where we thought they may have spat in her food. Overall, we felt so unwelcome and shut down from the service alone. And side bar, Tang, should NEVER interact with anymore customers based off of what we experienced. None of us had an experience like this one. SO yet again, please go off of the reviews for this place or you will be belittled, treated stupidly, and truly uncomfortable and unwelcome. read more

One of the greatest pho places in flagstaff. I don't understand why people are saying as things about this place. It is eccentric, the ambiance is normal. We got pho with rare steak and brisket. The brisket is a little chewy for me, so I might just get the rare steak next time, but I mean my belly is full and I feel so satisfied. Thanks for such good food. Stopped by after work today to see how authentic this Vietnamese Pho restaurant is. Overall, the Pho is decent but there are parts that could use improvement. This place does have "nước béo" (or fatty broth) so that adds to the authenticity of their Pho. But their vegetable is almost non existent, only have jalapenos and beansprouts, no basils offered. Their noodle wasn't fresh so it has this smell about it that kinda kills the flavor. I ordered the P7, which is rare beef (tái) with brisket (nạm) but the server mistook the order for P6, which was meatball Pho. I don't really like meatballs so my experience wasn't great. While the lobby and the restrooms were clean, the lobby was silent with no ambient music and apparently none of the outlets work to run my computer. I ordered chicken pho no onion and fried egg rolls. The pho came with onions. The server did apologize and gave me extra broth since my pho was cold by the time I took all the onions out by hand. It really just altered the flavor. They also did not have basil which was a big disappointment. The egg rolls themselves were fine but the dipping sauce was really cold, as if just out of the fridge which gave the fried egg rolls an awkward really hot and cold bite. At 30 min til closing, after I paid and while I was still working, they were rushing me to leave since they, out of the blue to me, closed early.
