Was craving Asian food while staying in Flagstaff. Not a lot of choices so we picked Golden Dragon. Glad we did! Food prices were average. But everything we were served was hot off the grill. Everything we ordered tasted good. We had chicken chow mien, veggie lo mien and sweet and sour shrimp. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived around 5 pm. By the time we left, every table was full and the waitstaff was practically running to keep up. When you go here, go early... or expect to wait a few minutes for your food. read more

This was takeout, but I've been hearing negative things about the service as well. The food has been declining recently, but tonight's order was even worse than the last two and we were very disappointed and will not be taking our business to Golden Dragon anymore. We were up charged for fried rice, which was white rice with soy sauce dumped on it. The chow fun was clumpy, and not carefully made. The green beans were overcooked and the cashew chicken was unacceptable and the shu mai were gristly and poorly made. Upon pulling up to the restaurant, I questioned how the food would be. Upon entering the restaurant, which has beautiful decor, I felt underdressed. The staff promptly sent me the weight and suggested different dishes. I ordered the chef's special, which was the seafood delight. It had scallops, shrimp, white fish, and a white sauce. I had white rice with it, and the dish had plentiful fresh vegetables, including broccoli, Zucchini, and onion. It was absolutely delicious. It's definitely a hidden gem. We've lived down the street from this place for a couple years now. We finally decided to try it today and it exceeded our expectations!! I literally forgot to take photos of the food until we were already halfway done We got our food to go. When we walked in the host greeted very nicely us asking if we had a pick up order or wanted to dine in. We told him a to go order and he handed it to us immediately and told us to have a good day. The food was delicious!! The crab puffs were STUFFED with filling, and they were so creamy! My husband enjoyed his lo mein and the sweet and sour pork was soooo good! Hands down the most authentic and delicious Chinese food in Flagstaff! Golden Dragon is my go-to when I'm craving Chinese food. The salt and pepper tofu is fantastic! It's crisp and is perfectly spicy. The beef chow mein is flavor and the noodles have the perfect texture. The fried rice is also very flavorful. I can't forget their cute takeout bags! I haven't eaten here in a long time so I decided to get some food to go. I ordered the Vegetable Egg Fu Yung and the Moo Goo Gai Pan. The Egg Fu Yung was made a lot differently than I'm used to. It's less Egg like and more bread based. And the sauce was very salty. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was cooked very well, but also very salty. I probably won't be eating here any time soon. read more

Nice menu with many different options. Our waiter was great and very knowledgeable as well as attentive in providing great service and recommendations. No problem with modifications to menu items as our grandson has some food allergies that he is dealing with. Our waiter also had a great sense of humor. Everything that we ordered came out perfect and was flavorful, hot and delicious. We will definitely back again when we are in town visiting our grandson who attends NAU. Our first time here, we ordered the lunch specials. The soups were very delicious, our waitress very kind! So it started off very positive. However, the main course wasn't as good. My son gagged on the orange chicken and refused to eat anything else, my daughter didn't touch her meal either. The fried rice was very dry. We never got a refill on our drinks the entire time we were there, and wasn't even super busy! We were 1 of 5 tables. When we wanted to leave we had to flag down our waitress but this took time to get her attention. She offered us a drink to go which was nice, since we never got refills. So on 2-27-2025 I went to try a meal, since I love the hot and sour soup that I tried last year on a "to go" order. So last night I got the soup I love and ordered the House Special Fried Rice with Shrimp, beef & chicken. I give it zero stars, it was nasty, no flavor, the shrimp, chicken, and beef all tasted like they had been soaking in water and cooked in water and even rubber like. I complained on my way out. I was told they don't have a hibachi pan. Bottom line it was not fried rice. Everything seemed steamed, including the meat and very blan with no flavor. And the waitress never refilled my water once, because she was eating dinner with her co-worker at another table. They never offered me to try something else like most places offer, when you can only take a few bites of their food. read more

We were driving to Williams, Az. and decided to stop for lunch in Flagstaff. We had done some shopping before so were really hungry. Looking on Yelp, Yelper Soo used to go to the Golden Dragon in LA where we used to go and love. Since she gave this Golden Dragon 4 stars, I figured it would be good since I trusted her tastes! I also saw other really good reviews after the change in ownership back in 2010 but old low scores brought the overall score down. The building is beautiful. It has golden dragons on each side of the entrance. The inside was also beautiful and very elegant. It's interesting that there is a large window so you can see the cooks working in the kitchen. It was fascinating to watch. We were greeted immediately, shown to a table and given menus. Plural. There is an authentic Chinese menu and a more Chinese-American menu. We really would love to try more things but settled on the lunch menu since we still needed to get back on the road. We chose the Mongolian Beef and Chicken Chop Suey. They both came with soup, an egg roll and rice. The hot and sour and egg flower soup were very good. The egg roll was not a favorite even though the wrapper was very crispy but the inside veggies were a bit mushy. The Mongolian Beef and Chop Suey were very good. We would order off the menus next time. I would definitely go back to Golden Dragon. Service was good, a large variety of choices and tasty food. Absolute favorite in town. Every dish full of flavor. Even with the Togo orders I have never been skimped yet. Love the shrimp with mixed vegetables, orange, sweet and sour, and sesame chickens are bomb! The soups are really really good as well. This place has good food but is a rip-off in general--no kids menu for my nine and 11-year-old. Like my nine-year-old needs a 17-dollar plate of sweet and sour chicken with a $1.50 extra charge for fried rice. Then there is and 11% sales tax charge. Apparently, you are charged to dine in and not told of that little gem. On top of leaving a 15-20 percent tip. Place is run down and is dated. There was a good amount of snow in the mountains. Not enough for me to go sledding but I did enjoy grabbing handfuls of the fluffy and icy snow and made some snowballs. I thoroughly enjoyed our white Christmas. After our snow day Maggie's son led us to Golden Dragon. I loved Golden Dragon in Los Angeles so I looked forward to trying it in Flagstaff. This Golden Dragon is different in that they don't have dim sum in carts and it's not located in a Chinatown. It is pretty nice inside and you can watch the cooks cook. Fried won ton strips were crunchy and had a delicious fried flavor. Wor Won Ton soup was a mix of chicken, shrimp, and pork won tons. Won tons were very small and I would have liked a higher pork to won ton ratio as the strongest flavor was from the won ton wrapper. Chicken and shrimp were both tender and had nice flavors. House special pan fried noodles had a delicious savory brown sauce and thin crunchy egg noodles. I loved the mix of flavors from the chicken, shrimp, and beef. Meats were all tender and full of flavor. This is one of the best pan fried noodles I've had in a while. After lunch I admired the golden dragons at the entrance. Loved the details in the artwork.
