Quaint mom and pop restaurant with delicious food. Service can be slow so don't expect a quick in and out. It's totally worth the wait though! Prices are fair and portion sizes are more than generous. The combination and spring rolls are always my go to. read more

This place is straight out of an Episode of one of Anthony Bourdain's shows. Legit!! The Van Fried Rice might be the best fried rice I've ever had. Service was a little slow, but it was obvious the food was perfectly prepared, and worth the wait. Cannot wait to try the pho. read more

I went up to this tasty place for lunch. Parking: More than ample. It's a decently-sized lot that they share at a sorta strip-mall of stores. Going Inside: It feels like you're walking into a cross between a meat-packing plant and a cafeteria. That's just the building. The restaurant has no public bathrooms, but does have pleasant seating, and a big TV. The kitchen is completely exposed through a very large service window. One of the owners seated me. Very friendly! What I Got: I ordered phở tái, no cilantro, the meat on the side, add basil, and the bean sprouts steamed. Got a rather strong cà phê đá, too. My Table: I had spoons, chopsticks, sa tế, Hoisin, but I asked for nước mắm, which they keep in the service window. The Food: Super piping hot, delicious beef, and really excellent noodles! I ordered a large by mistake, so I couldn't finish it to the bottom. The Pros: Delicious food! Friendly Service! The Cons: No public restrooms. And you can hear the people in the gym next door dropping free weights. It sounds like a construction site, sometimes. Will I return? Oh yeah! They're in my top five! Give them a try. read more

This hole in the wall mom & pop Pho shop in the heart of Connecticut, has warm my heart & soul with it's delicious bowl of Pho noodles. Containing such a prepared, flavorful beef broth, with al dente rice noodles, and wide assortment of rare beef tendon, brisket and beef balls, topped with fresh onions and scallions, served steaming hot out of the kitchen. This would definitely help you endure the harsh New England winters. Drop by this spot for a bowl! read more

This gem of a restaurant hidden in among businesses and set way back from the main road in Windsor, CT. Once inside you'll discover a cozy Phở restaurant that is heavy on the Phở, which is delicious, but also excels at providing flavorful Vietnamese dishes which are not soup that are on the paper menu. The staff works both the front and the back of the restaurant, so service tends to not be hyper attentive. In other words, if you are expecting someone to be checking in on you every 10 to 15 minutes, adjust your expectations. Once you've ordered your food it will come out fairly fast. During my visit I ordered a small beef brisket Phở (phở bò). The large version is far more than I can eat or drink in terms of broth and ingredients. On each table are all the usual condiments for Vietnamese cuisine - sriracha, hoisin sauce, and two types of chili sauces. All the utensils are at the tables - chop sticks, spoons. When you are ready to pay/leave, go to the register by the entrance of the restaurant. One of the servers/staff will make their way up to take your payment. They accept cash (who doesn't) and credit cards. I've been here several times with friends who are Vietnamese and friends who are not. The service and food quality was the same, which isn't true at all Vietnamese restaurants in Connecticut. I keep returning to Pho Van due to their consistency with the quality of the food and the price. read more

Pho was low flavor, mediocre ingredients, and decently expensive. Will not be coming back.

The food is very good, with good portions. Sort of a cafeteria-like look to the dining area decor, but there's also a patio outside. I've only gotten take out there, so can't speak for dine-in experience. read more

Being a California girl and coming from San Diego I'm quite critical with my Vietnamese food. For CT, this was an absolute find! I was swayed to try this when a reviewer from LA rated it 5/5 for being in CT. We currently live in WEHA, and both my husband and I thought the quality, flavor, and service was excellent. We ordered takeout due to COVID. I ordered a grilled beef banh mi after searching for hours for a restaurant that served what I was looking for (and that was open. They close at 7 btw and on Sundays), egg rolls, and lychee with boba drink. I'm use to Mr. Lee's in Long Beach or my set places in SD. The sandwich was delicious. Bread was excellent (my husband and I use to live in Seattle and he said the bread was delicious compared to other places he's had it on the West Coast). It wasn't too soft and it wasn't the hard rolls that usually hurt the roof of your mouth. The egg rolls for being "to go" was steaming hot and still crisp and not soggy. They're bigger than the normal size at other Vietnamese restaurants, like the size of lumpia if you know what that is. I'm critical with my lychee drinks so I always order taro bc it's usually consistent with all restaurants. Plus I hate being disappointed. The lychee was what you imagined the flavor to be- subtle, sweet, smooth. The boba was fresh, soft, and chewy. The gentleman on the phone was really kind, helpful, and prompt. Our def new "Vietnamese spot" once we move out of WEHA closer to Windsor. But regardless, it was worth the drive. read more

Fantastic place. I have a dairy and egg intolerance so the chef makes my peanut sauce without milk. Egg rolls are egg-free by the way. Fresh spring rolls are always on point and big. Vermicelli bowl is fantastic with delicious homemade fish sauce. Drinks are also delicious, I've had the bubble tea, limeade and coconut milk. I appreciated the ability to sit outside in the warmer weather. Some wait staff could be friendlier. read more

Always fresh and delicious anything you order with great service. Fast service and quite affordable.

I must agree pho van won my heart today I was superb about my pho experience,I'm rating it 100% will definitely be back..

It's in an industrial park area, and didn't look like much...but those are always the best places to get pho. I had a craving, since I had been eating nothing but heavy Italian food for days, and just needed something to reset my palate. It was fairly empty during lunchtime on a weekday, likely due to it being Christmas week and most people taking time off, but that meant more room for us! The grilled pork bahn mi was shredded and small-ish, but tasty and fresh. We each got - P4 and P9 with egg noodles - and the broth on P4 was absolutely delicious. P9 was a chicken broth, so not as hearty, but still a perfect match with the meat mix - pork, seafood, and quail eggs. P4 was standard pho with brisket and rare steak. Even though we asked for no cilantro on anything at all, all 3 dishes came out with it...it seems to be a pattern that it's very difficult to get Vietnamese places to understand that. I'm docking it one star because it's SLOOOOOOOOW. Yes, they're making it to order, and yes it's got three little Asians in the back kitchen cooking their brains out, but don't come here expecting to get in and out in half an hour or so. At least the parking was pretty spacious. It was a good option for us in the north-central end of the state without going to Springfield, and if I need pho again on this 2-week vacation, I know where to go. read more

We were in town visiting family. Decided to eat here for lunch. Staff was very friendly. I had the spring rolls and teriyaki fried chicken. Hubby had the ramen bowl. Food was delicious!! Spring rolls were fresh and crisp. The chicken was so crispy and flavorful. Ramen bowl was the best hubby had ever had. Definitely would be back next time we are in town! read more

Got takeout and it was excellent. Chicken wings are phenomenal, the chicken pad Thai was delicious and the Pho and Banh Mi were also very good. Only critique is i wish the veggies in the banh mi were cut up smaller and there was a bit more meat. Definitely coming back! read more

Finally writing a review for this new Pho spot. I use to work down the street from here. One of my coworkers has never tried pho before so we decided to eat here for lunch a few weeks ago on our work lunch break. I was super excited to have my coworker try out pho, because who doesn't love pho?! We were greeted and seated right as we walked in, service was very attentive. My coworker ordered the shrimp pho and I had the pho dac biet (combination) we also ordered some fried egg roll appetizers to start. The egg rolls came out piping hot and was very good. As for the pho, I really liked the broth. Super flavorful, full of noodles and meat. My coworker wasn't quite sure if she liked her bowl as she said the broth is very strong and different, however she did devour all the shrimps in there lol. Overall, I really like this pho spot. If I was still working down the street from here I would def come here often. But now that I am not, who knows when I will come back for some pho. As for my coworker she said it was a great experience trying new foods, she loved the egg rolls and decided that pho was just not her cup of tea, but hey everyone has diff taste buds. I saw that they have one of my fave Vietnamese dishes "BO NE" here which is beef, eggs and meatball on a sizzling hot stone plate w/ a side of banh mi (Vietnamese baguette). Will def try that next time. read more

I honestly have not had a bad meal at Pho Van, and now that I've gotten to know their menu better, there are 3 dishes that I cycle through religiously. #1. Pho Gau (brisket) & Bo Vien (meatball): You won't see this specific combo listed on the menu, but what I love about this restaurant is that they will customize pretty much anything to your flavor preference and dietary needs. For example, there isn't a Vegetarian Pho printed on the menu, but if you ask, they can absolutely whip you up a Pho with Tofu and/or Veggies and serve it with a vegetable stock. This is just something I aways keep in mind now when going out to eat. My best friend has been a vegetarian for the last few years, and so I try to keep a mental note of which restaurants she can actually eat at when we go out. #2. B3 - Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio: Grilled Sliced Pork and a Fried Egg Roll over Vermicelli Noodles tossed with Lettuce, Mint, Cucumbers, Pickled Carrots, Daikon Radish, and Roasted Peanuts, served with their Homemade Fish Sauce (which you pour over the dish like a salad dressing). I like to add in extra mint, fried shallots, and two spoonfuls of their homemade chili oil. It's got all the flavors I love about East Asian cuisine, it's spicy, sweet, sour and savory all at once! If you're only familiar with Pho for Vietnamese cuisine, but want to branch out, I definitely say give this one a shot next! #3. Last but not least C1 - Com Thit Heo Nuong: Grilled Sliced Pork over Jasmine Rice, a small side salad, and their Homemade Fish Sauce. This is a really simple yet comforting meal, and something my mom would've made for me as a kid. If you haven't tried Pho Van yet, you need to! read more

Been here a couple times as a local place to get some pho than the location near the airport. Off the beaten path in more of the warehouse districts of Windsor, you would never imagine that a business would survive here. When the companies nearby are not open, all these business look abandoned. I was blown away the last time I was there as the place was full sadly not because of Pho Van but because of the gym next door. As you would expect few gym members could pass up pho as there were a few people from next door that were enjoying their noodles. The layout is a little odd, the restaurant gives me a kitchen freezer vibe when you walk in. They bring around the corner where you'll find the booths, a tv and a sight of the parking lot in the back. I only come here myself after business hours but I am intrigued about what this whole area looks like "busy" We usually opt for the typical pho dishes with the noodles, pieces of meat and meatballs. My boyfriend decides to get it with egg noodles; that I would agree do taste a little bit better than the rice noodles. I've tried the vermicelli which is a nice lighter dish if you don't want to walk out with food coma. They do have some different types of banh mi but I can't bring myself to order one; maybe if I get bored with a pho dish. I would say that they do have a seafood based pho that was not that bad with shrimp, fish balls and quail eggs; a nice change up from the usual. read more

Not really much to look at from the outside (or the inside) but the food is decent. I don't usually veer far from ordering pho from Vietnamese restaurants and this one was pretty good, no complaints. There was a good helping of tendons and meat vs. noodles. If you're feeling somewhat hungry, I'd order the large. The fried egg rolls were larger than other Vietnamese places but didn't feel as authentic (piping hot from the kitchen). The spring rolls were fine, though. They have a selection of bubble teas, but they were based in artificial flavorings vs. a really good black milk bubble tea or more natural flavors. The service was okay and hopefully with more experience, they will anticipate customer needs a bit more and improve that. read more

Small place that has great food! My wife and I are connoisseurs of asian food and pho. We saw this place pop up so we had to try it out. It's not flashy but is very clean. You can see into the kitchen at the couple cooking away in the kitchen. We ordered egg rolls, Vietnamese crepe, and Pho Ga (chicken soup with egg noodles.) The rolls came first and were obviously home made, crispy, and delicious. The crepe was very well done, crunchy on the outside with shrimp, pork, and bean sprouts inside. The soup was very good too with plenty of chicken and a great tasting broth. When we left we said hi to the chefs. We were surprised to see a large pot of broth cooking away. The gentlemen explained that they make their own broth. The woman was hand rolling spring rolls. In summary, not flashy but very clean, no sign of frozen food any where, and great tasting. We are excited to see such a great mom n' pop shop with terrific food open nearby. We will be back soon! read more

Roughly 10 minutes from Bradley Airport, we found this place since we craving some Vietnamese and just got back from a trip. We ordered a summer roll, grilled pork chop with rice and also their special fried rice. The grilled pork chop dish also had a meat cake, fried eggs, and fish sauce which was tasty. My husband got the fried rice with sausage, bean sprouts, and other things in it. It was also good but not something I would order for my entire meal. That would have been better as a side to eat with other stuff. Everything was great and we love that it is a family run restaurant. Prices were ok. Service was ok considering we arrived a little before they closed. Not that attentive since they were busy. We noticed a ton of take out orders so our food was a little slow but we didn't mind. The ambiance was a little lackluster, tables weren't really wiped down that clean. Overall, we would come back for the food but more likely for takeout. read more

So glad to finally have a great and authentic pho restaurant around here!! We were greeted and seated promptly. The gentleman who served us is very friendly and attentive. We ordered shrimp spring roll and crispy eggroll to start. Fresh limeade and lychee slush to drink. And beef pho for entrées. They are awesome!! Spring rolls are fresh with great peanut sauce. Eggrolls are fried to perfection, crispy and not oily at all. Drinks are en pointe!! Refreshing and not too sweet. Beef pho is delicious!! Perfect amount of noodles and meat. Broth is rich yet subtle. I like mine with a spoon of their house made garlic chili oil and lime... Perfection! The other gentleman (the chef/owner I assume) was checking on us making sure everything is good - a big bonus point! Winter in New England will be easier with this restaurant only 8 minutes away from our house! read more

We were in Windsor, CT to meet someone halfway and wanted lunch. I was not expecting to have some of the most delicious Vietnamese food I have ever had, but that's what happened! We ordered the summer rolls with grilled pork and fried tofu for appetizers. The summer rolls were so incredibly flavorful and yet light with so many different textures and flavors, they were really incredible. The fried tofu was covered in a yummy brown sauce and cooked perfectly. I ordered Pho and my husband got a banh mi. I got a size large Pho and it was so generously sized. The BROTH was FANTASTIC!!! It had deep flavor but was also light, there's a ton of noodles and I love their hot chili oil. The Banh Mi was good but was lacking some of the punch of the other dishes. I also got a jasmine bubble tea, which was delightful and the tea was brewed perfectly with no bitterness. The service was friendly and responsive. I'm so happy we happened upon this spot, unfortunately it's almost 2 hours from our home but it's worth a special stop. read more

Authentic pho. Can't go wrong it with any menu item if you want the real thing. Looking for insta worthy meals- go somewhere else.

Outstanding Vietnamese food! Hard to believe this busy restaurant is ran by this nice couple with no additional servers!!

I am so happy to have tried Pho Van. I looove Vietnamese food but haven't found the one reliable restaurant in CT I'd rely on for this cuisine yet. I think Pho Van takes the cake- fast service, great food (not too salty, greasy, or excessive in MSG). I will ALWAYS have a soft spot for fresh spring rolls (they might call it summer rolls)- love love loved it. It's affordable and if you choose to sit outside, the furniture isn't great but the view you get looking out into a field (this visit, full of ongoing soccer games) was actually so peaceful and pleasant. read more

Went to this highly recommended place while on business travel. It is a no frills place with decent service. The food is average and not what I was expecting from the rave reviews from the people who suggested it. I got some rice with shrimp and and it had frozen bagged mixed vegetables in it and was flavorless. The Pho was average and nothing spectacular but the spring rolls were decent. If i was in the area would I go back again? Tough question, it wasn't good, it wasn't bad it just was. read more
