New Vietnamese spot in the old Vietnam Grill location on South Blvd. We tried the Pho Ga and a vegan pho and both were excellent. We picked it up for take out so I can't comment on overall service but the lady who greeted me on the phone to take my order and in help me in person upon pickup was very friendly. The broth was flavorful without being too salty, the chicken was tender and moist and the overall textures and flavors of this Pho was excellent. My daughter is vegetarian and she tried a vegetarian version and enjoyed it quite a bit. I look forward to going back and trying more dishes. The menu was extensive. They've added booths, and a sound system with music for an upgraded atmosphere over the prior restaurant that used the space. This location used to be the old Vietnam grille- now it's a new restaurant with new ownership and a new menu. First off, let me say that I am Vietnamese. So I'm very picky when it comes to Vietnamese restaurants and I know what's good and what's not good; it's my favorite cuisine! Needless to say they exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be coming here from now on as my go to Vietnamese spot because it is close to my house. They have a very extensive menu so I'm super excited to try out even more stuff. All the dishes that I got were amazing! When: Sunday at 1 PM, party of two for dine in. There was no wait. Overall: 4.8/5 Food: 4.8/5 - we got the cha gio (egg rolls), pho ga (chicken pho), and the com tam suon bi cha (broken rice with pork chop, pork and egg quiche). They were all SO good!!!!! The pho broth was delicious and authentic and flavorful. There was a perfect balance of broth, noodles, chicken, and veggies. When the com tam came out, my eyes were as big as the big ol pork chop it was served with! Wow!! The pork was so soft and tender and the marinade they used was sooo yummy. The fact that they used tep mo (fried out pork fat) to top the dish off was a 5 out of 5 in my books because not many places add it. The bi and cha were also delicious too- my portion was so big i barely ate half of it and took the rest home.. which is a WIN in my books when its a big portion! Overall everything we got was amazing and I can't wait to go back to try even more dishes. The menu was huge and had so many authentic Vietnamese dishes that you typically wouldn't see at other restaurants around here, so I'm just thrilled that they have so much to offer. Hopefully I can try their Special next time, which this weekend was banh cuon (savory rice crepes). I also overheard a server saying they have bun rieu (crab noodle soup) and that is my FAVORITE! Drinks: 4.8/5 - we ordered the ca phe sua da (viet iced coffee). Super strong, delicious, and perfectly balanced with the condensed milk. Yum!!! Service: 4.7/5 - everyone there was super sweet and attentive, all with smiles on their faces. They got everything we needed within a timely manner and we didn't have to ask for anything. And yes, they do speak English here so no worries if you don't know Vietnamese. However, like most ethnic restaurants, do not expect an over the top five star service when you come here. Vibes: 4.2/5 - it's your typical no-frills Vietnamese restaurants/Pho spot. Don't expect much when it comes to the aesthetics or the environment here besides Vietnamese music playing in the background ha ha but you're coming here for the food not for the vibes.. but that is to be expected for any authentic Vietnamese place. They pour their heart and soul and effort into their food, not the aesthetics of the place which is fine by me! But the restaurant is very very clean! Other: it's in the same parking lot as the new compare foods on South Boulevard. It is surface parking and it is all free. They also have some weekend specials on the board. Amazing food after a long flight! Located close to the Charlotte Airport, Pho Van was a great way to end our vacation! Nothing like a great bowl of pho to quench your cravings after being away in a country with minimal pho options! The nem nướng rolls were excellent as were the crispy egg rolls! But the pho was our favorite! The Đặc Biệt bowl with everything had all you could want! The pho Ga (chicken) was excellent for the more cautious. Wow! We came here expecting the old Vietnam Grill and found the new Pho Van restaurant - and the food was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and they can bring the spice peppers too. My favorite dish is the Bún Gà Nướng at most Vietnamese restaurants and Pho Van really made an outstanding one. We will be back! The ambiance was nice. Loved the music. I was traveling through this area and decided to stop in for a bowl of pho. From the limited reviews, it seemed like a decent Vietnamese restaurant for the area. Being in Charlotte, I tempered my expectations. Located in a strip mall, the restaurant is not too big with simple, clean decor. I was there for an early dinner on a weekday, so I was the only one dining. I played it safe and ordered their pho combo. The food came out in about 10 minutes, and the side of fresh Thai basil was a good sign. The broth had a good complex flavor with a hint of sweetness, but the portion size (even though I ordered the larger bowl) was disappointing. It didn't fill the bowl, and the beef portion was quite small. I finished quickly and felt a bit dissatisfied. Overall, it's a decent spot for Charlotte, especially given the challenging market for Vietnamese cuisine here. However, I probably won't be back. Paying $20 (including a $3 tip) for a small bowl of pho isn't the best value. read more

I recently found out about this place and that owners are the same couple that owned Asian Roll & Grill in Tega Cay for many years. I decided to pay them a visit on a recent Sunday for lunch and the Pho was delicious, very flavorful broth. I also ordered fresh summer rolls which were just standard. I'm looking for place that includes ham or pork as well as shrimp in their summer rolls. There were many places that used to do this but so far only 1 place in Ayersley but unfortunately their Pho is not up to standard. Been wanting to come bc they have banh cuon on the weekends as a special! I ordered to go and it was clean and the food came out super fast. They were really nice and even offered to help me take the food to the car since I had so much. Loved seeing and getting Vietnamese food other than the basics you see everywhere else. They even had nuoc mia (sugar cane juice) which we obviously got. The banh cuon was great - exactly what I wanted. We also got ca ri and com tam dac biet and that was delicious as well. Now that it's soup season, my wife and I were craving pho and saw that this place was nearby. We got the pho van (beef brisket) and the pork, egg roll and shrimp vermicelli. Both were excellent. I am in Charlotte for work, and found myself next door doing laundry when saw this place across the street. I figured pho sounded good on this cold winter night... and wow... great move! Absolutely delicious!!! I ordered the pho nam (21) and hot chrysanthemum tea - both were stellar. The food came out quick and tasted better and better with every bite. The food was very fresh, and the tea was phenomenal for something I had never heard of before (needed a non-caffeinated option since it was 8pm). It was a nice, quiet atmosphere, and was very clean. The owner was my waitress and was very friendly and attentive to me. She mentioned that she just opened this restaurant two weeks ago, and said they make the broth from a family recipe her grandmother use to cook. Their secret to this good family recipe is that they let the broth marinate overnight... and man... that definitely showed! It was soooo good! I'm from Los Angeles/Orange County, California, and I know good Vietnamese food... this place is top of the line and I'll definitely be back. Definitely would bring my parents here. read more
