Amazing food after a long flight! Located close to the Charlotte Airport, Pho Van was a great way to end our vacation! Nothing like a great bowl of pho to quench your cravings after being away in a country with minimal pho options! The nem nướng rolls were excellent as were the crispy egg rolls! But the pho was our favorite! The Đặc Biệt bowl with everything had all you could want! The pho Ga (chicken) was excellent for the more cautious. Wow! We came here expecting the old Vietnam Grill and found the new Pho Van restaurant - and the food was amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and they can bring the spice peppers too. My favorite dish is the Bún Gà Nướng at most Vietnamese restaurants and Pho Van really made an outstanding one. We will be back! The ambiance was nice. Loved the music. I recently found out about this place and that owners are the same couple that owned Asian Roll & Grill in Tega Cay for many years. I decided to pay them a visit on a recent Sunday for lunch and the Pho was delicious, very flavorful broth. I also ordered fresh summer rolls which were just standard. I'm looking for place that includes ham or pork as well as shrimp in their summer rolls. There were many places that used to do this but so far only 1 place in Ayersley but unfortunately their Pho is not up to standard. I was traveling through this area and decided to stop in for a bowl of pho. From the limited reviews, it seemed like a decent Vietnamese restaurant for the area. Being in Charlotte, I tempered my expectations. Located in a strip mall, the restaurant is not too big with simple, clean decor. I was there for an early dinner on a weekday, so I was the only one dining. I played it safe and ordered their pho combo. The food came out in about 10 minutes, and the side of fresh Thai basil was a good sign. The broth had a good complex flavor with a hint of sweetness, but the portion size (even though I ordered the larger bowl) was disappointing. It didn't fill the bowl, and the beef portion was quite small. I finished quickly and felt a bit dissatisfied. Overall, it's a decent spot for Charlotte, especially given the challenging market for Vietnamese cuisine here. However, I probably won't be back. Paying $20 (including a $3 tip) for a small bowl of pho isn't the best value. read more

Now that it's soup season, my wife and I were craving pho and saw that this place was nearby. We got the pho van (beef brisket) and the pork, egg roll and shrimp vermicelli. Both were excellent. Been wanting to come bc they have banh cuon on the weekends as a special! I ordered to go and it was clean and the food came out super fast. They were really nice and even offered to help me take the food to the car since I had so much. Loved seeing and getting Vietnamese food other than the basics you see everywhere else. They even had nuoc mia (sugar cane juice) which we obviously got. The banh cuon was great - exactly what I wanted. We also got ca ri and com tam dac biet and that was delicious as well. Unfortuntately my visit with my daughter was not a good experience. Food came out very late and both dishes came 10minutes apart, so I was almost done with my bun dish by the time her bahn mi came out. Even though there were only maybe 3 other tables (weekday early evening) our server disappeared. I am in Charlotte for work, and found myself next door doing laundry when saw this place across the street. I figured pho sounded good on this cold winter night... and wow... great move! Absolutely delicious!!! I ordered the pho nam (21) and hot chrysanthemum tea - both were stellar. The food came out quick and tasted better and better with every bite. The food was very fresh, and the tea was phenomenal for something I had never heard of before (needed a non-caffeinated option since it was 8pm). It was a nice, quiet atmosphere, and was very clean. The owner was my waitress and was very friendly and attentive to me. She mentioned that she just opened this restaurant two weeks ago, and said they make the broth from a family recipe her grandmother use to cook. Their secret to this good family recipe is that they let the broth marinate overnight... and man... that definitely showed! It was soooo good! I'm from Los Angeles/Orange County, California, and I know good Vietnamese food... this place is top of the line and I'll definitely be back. Definitely would bring my parents here. read more
