Our last two visits, about a month apart, were difficult. They were out of a lot of essential ingredients for many dishes, but served them anyways without notice. Tonight they were out of chicken, eggrolls, and lumpia. We were able to work around that, but then they got our order completely wrong. No apology or offer to remake it. This is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants, I enjoy their menu and variety of vegetarian options they have. The place is really nice they have a fish pond and out door sitting area and indoor. They have recently added a bar as well witch gives it a more modern look. Veg in the Northeast! I'm okay with Mexican food, but my palate often craves different regional dishes. I must have Vietnamese at least once a month, which my empty wallet will attest to. Thankfully this place is delicious and close by. I USUALLY get the tofu sandwich, which they fry in a lemongrass sauce. Makes a grown man cry. They put in a crispy french roll with pickled carrots and cucumbers which cut the grease and make it a light refreshing sandwich. I try not to, but I can usually throw two or three of these bad boys down. I also get the shrimp spring rolls. I've tried the tofu spring roll (which is unspiced) and the grilled salmon, but shrimp is my favourite. Although, I don't know if I like it for the roll itself or for the legit peanut sauce on the side. Put that in an IV for me, please. They do have a seafood soup, which I've had, but it's not really pesc friendly since it's beef broth. Only the one on I10 has a truly veg soup. Of course, you also have to get some boba tea when your there. They have a great assortment of flavours. On a recent trip, I tried the redbean boba. It reminded me of the filled sesame balls that you get at asian restaurants. That, coffee or watermelon are my favorite. I'm drooling as I'm writing this, so I may have to break open the vault and head out this week. read more

Boba tea is something I have been driving across town to get. I have drove across town from west to east and north to south. Taste experiences varies from "boba tea" that taste like straight skim milk, savory to overly sweet. This place have mastered the perfect blend. I get so happy when I see that young guy at the front, he is the key to all the perfect blend of boba tea. The results are always great and always identical. Amazing food, variable service quality. I get take-out from here on occasions. My favorites are the combination pho, spicy beef noodle soup, grilled beef sandwich and shrimp spring rolls. I rarely order besides those choices. Combination pho: soup is flavorful and the are reasonably proportioned. Be careful with their soup take out. The container top is a thin plastic, can be easily torn if the hot soup is too full. Spicy beef noodle soup: different kind of noodle than pho, kinda like udon but smoother. The food is really good here, what prevents a 5 star rating is the small staff and small location. If you go during peak time you may not get a seat and of course your food will take a while. If you love Vietnamese food, you're going to be hurting in El Paso. However, Pho Tre Bien Express is the best of the 3 I've found in this city. The other one is Pho Tre Bien off of HWY I-10E and Saigon Taste on the westside. Service has improved, and when there are no alternatives, you'll wait. I came here for lunch today craving soup, since I am coming down with something. I love pho and visited their other location on the gateway previously with pleasant results. Today I got #13 - rare steak and brisket pho. The only recommendation I have is to call your order in ahead of time because I waited 30 minutes for soup. Really?!? Otherwise, what the place lacks in decor, it totally makes up for in it's soup. The broth was ah-mazeballs!! The to-go container looks small, but there are plenty of noodles, meat and accoutrements, if you will, that make for a huge meal. My pho was $7.50 and I couldn't finish it. A shout out to my fellow yelpsters for helping me find this place! =) (that is the term, right?) I love using it to find new places and this one was definitely a good choice. I just finished eating what I could of the take out. First, it was super fast... by the time I placed the order, got in my car, and drove there, it was ready. Second, it's a really good value for the money because of the portion sizes. There's a thai place around here where you have to get two dishes to get full and so I did same here... at least now I have leftovers! Also the food was very good! The soup (54 - seafood noodle) I would say was OK, but that was more a matter of personal taste than the dish not being up to par. I loved how they separated all the ingredients for the take out with the veggies and seafood and stuff being in two containers (well one styrofoam container and one ziploc baggie) separate from the soup portion. The main dish I got was 76 - lemongrass noodles with chicken. And it was GREAT! I wanted to take a picture of it all to post here, but then I decided to eat a bite then couldn't stop - sorry everyone. =P But the ingredients again were separated within the dish to keep anything from gettin soggy or anything like that and everything was just perfect, haha. The food is excellent but the wait is often far too long and underestimated. They are frequently out of specific ingredients and you will find yourself waiting ten to fifteen minutes after placing your order just told be told they ran out of something and can't make your food. I love this place. My year living year, my order has never been messed up, and the service is just amazing. I don't even want to deduct any stars because I know during these times we are all going through stuff and orders have probably reduced since the covid-19 ordeal, with that being said, lately the broth has been off, it taste different and even looks different in color. Ok. Update time. All is good with the food. There are a couple of things with the atmosphere that I have noticed that take away from the place a little bit. First, the music in the dining area is pretty loud but the music in the kitchen is just as loud. So I want to dance to both Mariah Carey and Nikki Minaj at the same time. I've tried many dishes here and they all tastes great. However, I really like the Spicy Beef Soup and Chicken Skewer with rice above all. The servers does a good job relating my request to the cooks of no onions in my soup almost every time I comes here. The restaurant is small but it's still good for a small group of people. This was the WORST PHO I ever had! It was sooo greasy, the brisket was all fat... thats all you tasted... the "sides" you put in the pho was OLD ... it was disgusting.. I will NEVER go back...and NEVER recommend. IF someone does go... check your food, which is what i should have done before i left... This dang Covid has this business taking advantage of the carry out situation and putting this awful food out to customers who are given "bag" and food all sealed up.... which is good.. but you can't see it... and not good if you're going to send out horrible food! Great food and great staff, but no one is enforcing the social distancing. At lunchtime the soldiers were seated right next to each other not even a foot apart. We all know better. That wall area with the stools right next to each other should be closed off or some of the stools removed. read more
