We only received a $5.00 refund and a $10.00 credit for a $19.00 product that didn't only ruin our night, it caused an injury. What was most disappointing was the response when I contacted the restaurant. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the injury, and no indication that they would even review whether the packaging met appropriate safety or legal guidelines for extremely hot broth. I was simply told to go through DoorDash, which felt dismissive given the circumstances. I understand accidents can happen, but situations involving injuries should be handled with care, accountability, and basic concern for customer safety. We had a party of seven, easily accommodated with a 11:30 AM arrival, they don't take reservations. I called ahead anyway, not wanting to catch them by surprise. I lived here 11 years ago and lived coming here. Today I was disappointed as the food wasn't as tasty and everything looked flat. The service was good, the waiter came around periodically to check on me and refill my drink if needed. I will have to say the spring rolls were huge! I used to live in the area 16 years ago and Saigon Taste was my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I loved the vegetarian bun tofu - still dream about it, it was amazing. We have recently moved back to the area and was happy to find that Saigon taste was still here. However they are definitely not the same. Had the Goi Cuon summer rolls and bleh. No flavor, tiny shrimp and full of lettuce. Same for the vegetarian tofu bun. So much lettuce no flavor. Even the fish sauce had no flavor. Very disappointed. I stopped by for carry out one night after work - and it was super inconvenient. You can't pay over the phone, you have to walk in all the way to the back, and I still waited around fifteen minutes. I think, in these Covid times, that most places have adapted a better system so maybe I'm spoiled but dragging two kids in just to grab carry out and and still wait AFTER calling in an order, no thanks. The Pho was phenomenal, I'll say that much. The only other thing I ordered was a bubble tea - it was mostly big chunks of ice, so it was undrinkable. It's been a minute since I've been to Saigon Taste, with all the new Vietnamese places opening up. I decided to try it as I was across the street at the optometrist, to cheer up the kiddos with some yummy food after our crummy experience. I saw an advertisement for Vietnamese Ragù as their new appetizer and knew I wanted to get it because Vietnamese Ragù is amazing on a rainy day. If you didn't know what it is, Vietnamese Ragù is borrowed from the French ragout, which refers to a well-seasoned meat and vegetable stew. It also means something that tastes so good that it reawakens your senses. The Italian term ragù (Bolognese sauce is a type of ragù) comes from the French ragout. Unfortunately it was sold out when I went, it's that popular. They did however have this new Vietnamese Menudo (best description of the dish I could think of) and specials on their beef pho ($8) and their BBQ chicken/pork banh mi ($5) and I couldn't resist ordering it alongside their pork stuffed fried eggplant. Their pho was as good as ever and they're generous with their meat portions. The kids devoured their bowls and said it was delicious! The eggplant dish was seasoned well, but much oiler than I'd like. The banh mi was delicious or so my husband said as I brought it back for him. I already knew as it was one of my favorite dishes at Saigon Taste alongside their banh khot. The Vietnamese Menudo was a revelation, it's intensely spiced like rojo menudo, but it's not spicy. The broth base is coconut water, so it has a much lighter flavor profile with notes of curry, cinnamon, anise, lemongrass, and bay. It's mildly sweet but with a complex assortment of southeast spices. The tripe itself is soft and unctuous, velvety in mouth feel. All the crevices and nooks absorb the broth and is intensely delicious. The best way to eat is with some bread and I dipped it in and sopped up all the flavors. Unfortunately I ordered too much and had to take a lot of it to go. But like menudo it tastes better longer it goes so I'm eating it for breakfast and it's amazing. I highly recommend it if you want to try something new and yet familiar. Don't forget about Saigon Taste, it's still one of the great Vietnamese restaurants in El Paso especially now with all the specials they're running. Come out and support local! For years, we have been customers for this restaurant and they used to have the best Pho in El Paso. About a year and a half ago we stopped coming altogether because they were always lacking ingredients that were necessary for the bowl of pho. They did not have star anis in the broth, and they did not have basil... so when we came back giving them a second chance, it is worse. We asked for a thought that would have to meet and it only had one. The broth still has no star anis, and they gave us some basil that was like soggy, (not fresh). I have been searching so long for a good Viet place, and this probably the best contender in El Paso. Ambiance - Plenty of tables with nice decor on the walls. It's simple and everything you need. Food - I got the pho and banh xeo which were delicious. The broth was flavorful and the banh xeo was crunchy. I did wish that there was a bit more meat in the pho though. There were also other things on the mention I was pleasantly surprised to see. Overall, a good Viet place with things other than the standard pho and banh mi. Based on the menu and somewhat mixed reviews, I was curious but a bit hesitant to try Saigon Taste. Thankfully, the naysayers were proven wrong. We started off with the vegetarian summer rolls, which I believe were No. 69 on the menu. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, with crunchy vegetables and lightly fried tofu. The peanut sauce had a pleasant balance of sweet and savory. One member of my party got No. 68, which was a savory crepe filled with mushrooms, tofu, and bean sprouts. It was very yummy, especially because the crepe had a very slight coconut flavor. The accompanying sauce was tangy and flavorful. I got No. 72, the eggplant and tofu with basil. This was my favorite. The eggplant and tofu were perfectly prepared, and the tofu was firm and nicely browned, and the eggplant was tender without being mushy or greasy. The sautéed peppers and onions added a nice crispy contrast in texture. According to the youngest member of my party, the chicken wings were delectable. The digs are slightly dumpy, with Formica tables and linoleum, and the restaurant could provide a more pleasant ambiance with some low background music, but all in all I truly enjoyed Saigon Taste. Ive recently been encouraged to expand my pallet by some friends who love to indulge in a variety cuisines. Turns out Vietnamese food has some of my favorite dishes. I tried the Charbroiled Chicken (Bun Thit Ga Nuong) and it was delicious. The chicken was tender and marinated perfectly with a sweet glaze. The noodles and vegetables tied everything together perfectly. Best of all is how light this plate is. It's a perfect lunch option. I'll be returning to try other options. read more

Overall I enjoyed my experience here at Saigon Taste. 10% military discount is always appreciated (although my receipt said 20% off with 10% $ amount??). A friend of mine recommended this place as having the best tasting pho in El Paso, and I was not disappointed. I wish there were some similar establishments on the east side of El Paso, but there were none according to my said friend. Pho Tai (beef round eye steak) was very good. I especially enjoyed the broth--I believe it makes or breaks pho IMHO. I usually judge pho by its richness of broth anyway. However, I thought the serving portion was somewhat small. I was glad I ordered the "large" instead of small. I'm used to have a "large" pho that is very large--even the bowl itself is large--large enough that I have hard time finishing it. I thought the large bowl here was the regular or small size bowl elsewhere. I had no problem finishing it and even wanting some more. The amount of rice noodles and sliced beef corresponded the size of the bowl. If it were the "large" bowl indeed, I hate to think how small the small bowl would be--probably a kid-size one. My server was friendly, courteous and prompt. My food came out very fast. I cannot speak for other servers/cashier, especially the cashier was without personality or courtesy. It can't be a cultural thing, since most Asians are at least courteous unless he/she has a severe language/cultural barrier. Nonetheless, my pho tasted very good. Beef was sufficiently tender. I wished they had a combination of round eye steak and meat balls, but it wasn't on the menu. Perhaps, I probably could have asked for it, though. If you don't ask for it, you won't get it. All they can say is "no." I think I would frequent this establishment to try other dishes if it were closer to my residence. After two plus years my first review is still very accurate. The food continues to be delicious, the staff continues to be very friendly and attentive. Even during the Covid-19 restrictions, I would drive by every week to see if they had reopened and they finally did for take out. First thing I did was call up the wife and exclaim "Saigon Taste is open!!" And sure enough we had some of our usual dishes, the veggie pho and my wife had a brisket pho. Service was about 15 minutes, and they have the entrance blocked off so you can stand by the entrance next to the fish tank and they come to bring your food and take your payment. My friend tried calling up on a different day, but they were closed. So I'm guessing they aren't fully staffed to be opened every day, and at this rate any day they are open is good on my list! I'll keep stalking them until I can order again. read more

So a couple a things. Whats definitely a win is the flavor of the broth. I can truthfully say that the broth was as velvety smooth and savory as it should be. The problem i have was what the put in their bowls as far as combination meats go. I paid about $10 for the small combo bowl (#16 for pho i believe) and what i got was a whole bunch of tripe and tendon, and less of the brisket cuts and steak. The bowls are pretty huge tho for a small which kinda justifies the price but it was interesting how you get way more tripe and tendon than actual meat. I also tried their shrimp spring roll with peanut sauce which were good. And i requested to add basil to them and they did so with no extra charge thankfully. My waitress was super friendly and knowledgable. I asked if they had the viet coffee and she even went as far as explaining that it wasnt the french pressed/drip way like they should be. They make theirs with instant coffee. I was super thankful she said so too as i doubt j would have enjoyed it as much. She was also very prompt at straightening out a hygiene issue i noticed in the bathroom when one employee used the toilet and left without washing their hands. Now i know there are sinks in the kitchen but im pretty sure the standard of food safety includes the minimal washing of hands when using the toilet. She pointed this out to her manager and also apologized for the incident which i was truly grateful for. I described which employee it was and she assured me that she wasnt the one who handled my food. Tho i was still grossed out, i still managed to enjoy my lunch thanks to her helpfulness. read more

Came here and got the small, combination pho. I've had bad pho before where it tastes like the broth was made from a powder, and let me tell you that this place doesn't taste like that. There's more depth than the soups I've had in my poorest pho experiences, and don't get me wrong I'm sure they make the broth from scratch in the kitchen, but someeeething is missing. I just can't pinpoint it because I don't make pho myself... Despite that, I still think that it's tasty. They give you a lot of meat for the bowl - at least two pieces of tendon and tripe, and hefty amounts of rare round eye beef and brisket. The small is a good portion, but definitely pricier than I'd like. I've had bigger, more flavorful 'small size' combination phos for about $8, so paying $9-$10 was more than I'd like. If you're trying to leave really, really full, I'd suggest ordering a large. They give the usual bean sprouts, jalapeños, and lime. I wish they had basil to go into the broth, though. I also wished that the pho came out piping hot. Perhaps this is a preference, but that's why I'm knocking off a star for this place. Service was average - asked us a couple times if we needed anything else, and provided more lime wedges upon request. Would come back, but definitely need to try other pho places around the area for comparison to see if there are cheaper options for the same amount of food! read more

First of all, I don't live in El Paso, I was just in town for a visit. Secondly I should say that I eat Pho at least once or twice a week, and sometimes more. The night we ate at Saigon Taste, they were out of sprouts and basil, which I had never experienced at a Pho joint before. I also had to ask more than once for napkins, and I had to grab hot sauce myself from another table. Although my experience was far less than stellar, it is only fair that I mention that my visit was around 9:00pm, and they close at 10:00. The foods are ok. I ordered rare steak pho and pork chop over rice. Rare steak pho only has 6 super thin slides of meat. Everything will be perfect if they add more meat. I'm going to start out by saying this restaurant is phenomenal! I went into this restaurant craving some Vietnamese cuisine and let me tell you Saigon Taste did not disappoint. Everything on the menu is easy to understand and it all looks absolutely delicious. I tried their pho I would say that it was definitely some of, if not, the best pho I've ever had in my entire life. I am a connoisseur of pho. Okay, not really an expert, but I eat pho any chance I get and EP does have some pretty good options for the broth-y, vegetable soup that is pho. Although there are a limited amount of Vietnamese restaurants in EP, I'm lucky enough to live right down the street from Saigon Taste and am known for making a few stops a week for a big bowl of pho here. The restaurant is very typical Asian-El Paso. Wood tables, a TV, a couple of plants, canned soda, and generally clean. Like a step above a hole in the wall, but a step below trendy...it hovers somewhere comfortably in the middle. Service is okay, sometimes a little slow, but no real complaints. I actually really love Vietnamese food, but somehow every time I'm here I've only ever ordered the pho. The pho is decently priced ($10 average, give or take) and the portion is what I'd expect. The broth itself is a little weak, but ever since I was introduced to hoisin mixed with sriracha, broth depth is a non-factor. I like to stick with the steak because it's cooked perfectly, but I have accidentally eaten the steak with brisket (this may seem like an impossibility, but just think about it). The brisket is thicker cut than the steak and you actually get more meat than ordering simply steak which is a little of upsetting since they're the same price. Broth to noodle, veggies, and meat ratio is on point. The noodles can be a little long, but I do the chopstick-to-spoon technique so that isn't really an issue. The added veggies that notoriously comes with pho can sometimes be skimpy [or nonexistent], but that's never a problem here...jalepenos, limes, bean sprouts, cilantro and occasionally liquorice. I'm actually not a fan of liquorice or anything that slightly resembles it in taste, but the first time I had it in my pho at ST I found that it was rather enjoyable in a broth. Eventually I think I will make my way through the menu, but I know that no matter what I will keep returning for the pho every time a craving creeps up on me. read more

Since moving here from Cali, I have been here twice now. The shrimp vermicelli was tasty and was a nice reminder of home. On this second visit, I decided to try to the wet cake barbeque rolls.
