I'm very disappointed with the service and the long wait for food during my visit. The restaurant was not especially busy, yet it took far too long for anyone to take our order, and even longer for the food to arrive. When our meals finally came out, we had to leave. (It was our lunch break) No one checked on our table or updated us about the delay, and the staff seemed uninterested and disorganized. We watched people come in after we did, and received their orders fairly quickly as we waited patiently. I been on a haunt for the best bah ni sandwich in EP and honestly this was mixed feelings. The bread looks like it was cut in half from a full loaf which was confusing since it's usually a full loaf sandwich in most places(the loaf reminded me of the 1 dollar loaf breads in Walmart for some reason) .Yet how stuffed the sandwich was made up for that. The cabbage and spicy mayo was a great touch to the sandwich. The only thing was the meat didn't have wasn't that seasoned like I tasted in other places. Found this place by word of mouth. We ordered a shrimp roll as an appetizer. For meals we got pho and Korean ribs. This place is a small establishment but is decorated very nice. We were traveling through the i-10 and my wife had the insane craving for pho. Our initial choice had a 40 minute wait so we ended up here and we were pleasantly surprised at how amazing the food was. The staff was very friendly, and the service was quick, and I do suggest their pho (brisket) and Chicken fried rice. They also had Boba as well. Years back I use to visit this location a lot. Never had an issue always positive experiences. Tasty Pho, nice inside decor, private, and good costumer service. Recently I visited for their Bobba Tea bar. Bobba has lots of calories but loved it. Firs time here and upon departing, we said we will be back. The restaurant is hidden in one of the strip malls on the side of Gateway West. It's not exactly easy getting to, but a few turns on side streets and you're there. Parking is scarce, so arrive early if you want to eat dinner. Service was OK, they were swamped, so I did not hold that against them. The food was good, large portions that you could take home as an additional meal or two. Give it a try. read more

My family and I tried searching for places and didn't see many Vietnamese restaurants in El Paso since we just passing by the city. So we decided to give this place a try. When we arrived a little after opening, the waitress was still setting down chairs and didn't have everything prepare by opening time. When she gave us the menu, I was disappointed that there was not any Vietnamese written anywhere on the menu for an "authentic" Vietnamese restaurant. Another disappointment was that they do not sell Vietnamese iced coffee. Food: 1/5 - I ordered Pho #16 in the menu which has well done brisket, rare steak, and tendon. When I plate of veggies came out, I was surprised how little herbs that gave for six people only has bean sprouts, cilantro, lime, and jalapeno slices. Where are the basil and culantro?? When the bowl of pho was placed in front of me, I was let down once again. There was too much broth and barely any noodles and barely any meat for this large bowl. (If you look closely in my picture, they added a leaf of basil in the pho.) We had to request for more basil, and even then, it was not enough for all of us. As for service, it seemed like the waitress wasn't thrilled to wait for our table at all. Not only we're they super accommodating- but they were also able to deliver! I had the rare-steak Pho, boba, and tiramisu. The pho broth was AMAZING! Probably one of the best I've had in the state of Texas. The boba was on the sweet side but definitely hit the spot. We entered and easily found a booth, but the table had not yet been wiped down so we quickly moved to another clean table. It seems as though they are short on staff--I noted several uncleared tables/booths. Anyway, waitress Esther soon brought us menus; when she returned with our ice waters we ordered the 4-piece egg roll appetizer. It was delicious! Our entrees were a Vietnamese Sandwich with Tofu and a Teriyaki Chicken bowl, both extremely tasty. The restaurant has a nice ambience and NO overpowering background music. The decor are poster-sized images of pastoral scenes in Vietnam, and the realistic slender bamboo alongside the West wall are actually very good imitation. However, as far as quality goes, it MIGHT be the best, of the few, Phô places in the EPT. The area is kinda whack.. Jammed in between a restaurant and a 24 hr laundromat, but INSIDE is actually rather nice. One waitress, place is rarely packed. Menu is to the point. Service is fast. Food tastes great and is a very good sized portion for the price. We've been twice and for sure will go 3-5 more times. We've been to a few, and for now, this is our go-to Phô place. I'm still uncertain if this place is called Pho So or Pho So 1 because I've seen it written both ways. Either way, it's a good place to grab some pho at a reasonable price. So why not a higher rating? The menu as a whole and customer service could use a little work. I tried a couple of different things here and most were okay to good. Nothing out of this world, just exactly what I'd expect them to be. The Charbroiled Pork dish was not among this list. I've had Charbroiled Pork from a lot of different Vietnamese restaurants so I may be no expert, but I know a good dish when I taste one. If Tyson Chicken made Tyson Pork, this is what would be served at Pho So. It just had an unnatural taste and texture to it. Not very fond of it. While I ate my Charbroiled Tyson Pork, I listened to Show Me by Chris Brown featuring Kid Ink. Actually, when I walked in Show Me was playing and I thought PS was playing the radio. Weird, but okay. I'm not stereotyping, a Vietnamese restaurant can play whatever kind of music they want, but when you put so much work into the decor why ruin the ambiance with American hip-hop. The interior design really does do a good job of making you feel like you're at least outside of El Paso. So back to what I was saying about Show Me. Shortly into my meal Show Me came on again. Huh? I've only been here maybe half an hour...if that. Then another song started to play and I noticed a server run over to the counter, push something and immediately Show Me came on again. There were families eating there with small children. I certainly don't know what other patrons listen to when they're in their car, but what I do know is Show Me is not the song you want to hear REPEATEDLY while eating with your family. And just in case you aren't familiar with Show Me, here's a snippet of the lyrics: "Baby let me put your panties to the side, I'mma make you feel alright cause I'mma give you what you need...I could tell you a freak, go show it. Lookin for the after party, where the door at? Go on the floor like a doormat..." I don't even know what that last part means, but you get my point. Some servers where better than others. My server took my order and brought my food out, but I had to have other servers refill my cups and get the check. The egg rolls were tasty with a really good sauce that I mixed with siracha. The pho was much larger than I expected for a small and it was tasty and filling as well. Pho So? More like Pho So So.. Came across this place after doing some work nearby and I was looking for a place for lunch. I travel a lot for work and have eaten Pho at a LOT of places all over Texas. This had to be in the lower third of places as far as quality. I ordered a ca phe sua da to drink, looking forward to a strong creamy coffee drink. Disappointment ensued. It came pre-made in a tall water glass. The color was almost completely white and watery. The taste.. well, there wasn't much of that. On to the Pho. Number 7 on the menu, Pho Tai, and they call it Rare steak Pho. It was neither rare, nor very much like steak. It was like they dumped a few pieces of tasteless beef jerky in the bowl, covered it up with noodles, and poured broth over it. The broth.. surprisingly tasty actually. It had a rich tangy flavor to it. The noodles were cooked just right as well. The side plate had cute key lime halves, a good portion of jalapeños, cilantro, and bean sprouts. For those of you who like your bean sprouts crunchy and cooked by the broth, make sure you ask for fresh. The bean sprouts they served me were presteamed and a cold congealed mess. Service was at best indifferent. The one time the server asked how everything was, I responded "okay" and she walked off without a word. In summary, there have to be better places in El Paso to find a good bowl of Pho. You might want to look for one of those. read more

Finally our meal came and we decided to order dessert and by the time we got someone else's attention for refills and our order for dessert it took 30 min . I had a pretty positive experience at this Pho So location, the restaurant had lots of tables available, was clean and quiet, and the waitress was super nice and helpful. I accidentally ordered the wrong Pho (chicken) because I stupidly just ordered the last number listed on the Pho menu, which is usually the combination one, my favorite, but they changed the menu; lucky for me the waitress was able to get me a side of meatballs to add to my soup, so even though I didn't get to eat my favorite, my meal was made great! She also brought me lots of limes, how great is that? I'm a fan of Pho So in general, I usually visit their other two locations more often, but I was in the neighborhood. The reason I like them so much is that when I first learned about Pho (the food) I was given the impression that it was supposed to be, for lack of a better word, a cheap but tasty meal, and the first Pho restaurants I visited reinforced that impression, which is by no means a bad thing, it was rather authentic. In El Paso, where we don't have many Pho options, I feel that Pho So best embodies this authentic Pho atmosphere. A great example of what I mean is in the price. At Pho So, the Pho dishes are all under $10, and though I also like Pho Tre Bien, I don't believe paying more than $10 for Pho is 'authentic,' though the difference isn't tremendous. Another thing I really love about Pho So is the Charbroiled Pork Spring Rolls, which are delicious and I actually prefer over the more popular shrimp spring rolls. My recommendation is to get some Pork Spring Rolls as an app and then finish up with a big bowl of the #21 (the combination Pho), not the #24 (the chicken and shrimp), but if you screw up, they got your back! :) read more

I was looking for fast food but I came across Pho So. It looked completely empty so I was reluctant to go in but when I walked in, the wall of booths were pretty full. The tables were just empty. The waitress was friendly got my order quickly. I asked for bun bo hue, my regular VietDish but the waitress had no idea what I was talking about. It is El Paso after all so I didn't make a fuss. I just ordered the Pho with tendon and shrimp spring rolls. The food came out promptly and looked good. My only gripe was the lack of herbs/veggies that come normally comes with pho. I got 2 sprigs of cilantro (coriander), 2 dry lime wedges and a palm full of bean sprouts. Kinda disappointing. But the veggies looked very clean and fresh. The spring rolls were bland because they didn't have any fresh herbs. Just lettuce vermicelli noodles and butterflies shrimp. The peanut sauce was just ok too. Good for first timers and kids...but not for foodies. The pho wasn't much better. The soup wasn't really savory. It had all the taste of good Pho but lacked umami. And the goodies were spartan; the tendon etc. I put in a lot of Hoisson sauce, Sriracha, and the veggies. These perked up the flavors so I enjoyed the dish. Given that this is only the second Pho place I've found in El Paso, I had to give it 5 stars. It's waaaay better than the other place across the freeway and if I really want pho, this place works out just fine. Not Westminster/Orange County CA good but great for west Texas. Pho is great on any type of day! Pho in the morning, pho in the evening, I'm always down to go. I've been here a few times and finally had the time to sit and write a review. The business is located in a funky area, between another restaurant, asian store (wan jia le), and a laundromat. Nonetheless, the interior is great. Kinda small, but it does accommodate a group setting. Parking is sorta small, but the sides of the building have space. The pho was pretty good, but sometimes the broth seemed sorta off for me. Some days it taste just right other times I needed to add flavor. They do have bobba and coffee, so it's a plus. The only thing is that there's one waitress. I can tell she's super tired and busy, cause she started jogging around trying to accommodate everyone. A couple times she forgot the menu for my friend and left abruptly when she handed the receipt, but to handle that much people by yourself is overwhelming. I'm hoping they have extra help soon. Their other selections besides pho are good, spring rolls and rice noodle and meat is good, if you're not feeling the soup on a particular day. Pretty quick food service too. read more

The customer service is a little lacking, but honestly I'm just glad they were able to swap out the meat in the pho and spring rolls for some tofu. I think the tofu pho is amazing, but my boyfriend really cringes when he has to eat here (he said the chicken tastes like unseasoned, processed chicken product).
