This was my first visit here to Pho Tre Bien and I must say it was great! It's a cute little establishment, the volume is fair, soft music and spacious seating. The service was fair. For appetizers we ordered the shrimp spring rolls with the peanut sauce (pictured), one is very filling as the serving sizes are big. I got the chicken skewers with the rice noodles, peanuts and side salad. It was too big to finish, very filling and good. I found the chicken tough to chew. The peanut sauce is by far the best I've had, it really went well with every item we ordered. Parking was very easy, there's a pretty good size parking lot in the back of the restaurant. I ordered the combination pho, subbed meatballs and added extra brisket. Super tasty! The restaurant had on a great 80s music playlist and the coy fish outside was really cute. The service was bit slow which is why I took off one star. He's picky about his chicken and when brought up to our server, frank, he said there's nothing they can do about it he can return it but he very well might get the same thing. This food was nasty. I ordered the lemongrass tofu that came with a large portion size of jasmine rice with a side salad with plenty of tofu. The salad was still wet as if it was just washed and not dried before putting it into the takeout container. The tofu was dressed with sauteed green bell peppers with onions, but it tasted bland. I think the dish needed salt. It did not taste like lemongrass, but spicy. The tofu was crispy though. Upon walking into the restaurant was a bit of a challenge, especially at night, you walk into this door that leads you into this rainforest oasis with waterfalls in the background noise, lots of trees, and there's plenty of doors. I was completely confused about where the door actually led into the restaurant. I had to ask some people who appeared just as lost as I was. They guessed one door which we all got right. Tip, y'all need to add some proper lighting and signage to direct customers into the restaurant. It was my first time visiting this restaurant and I'm not even from El Paso. We've only been in Texas for almost 2 weeks. So disappointed. After spending $95 on delivery so I didn't have to put my 20 month and 4 month old grandchildren in the car. Half of the order was missing. When I called Arianna she was not at all helpful or nice about the situation. She said yes some of our order was still there but she couldn't do anything about it. So, I had to be completely inconvenienced with my young family and drive to get the rest of our food. When I arrived at the restaurant was dirty and smelled like vomit. I spoke with Arianna who was rude and short with me and not at all kind. When I asked for a manager she said no one could help. Then I asked what she would do if she was the customer she said ask for a refund. So I said ok I would like a refund. She responded she couldn't help. I asked again for someone to give me some customer service. She again replied no one could help me. I am perplexed with why this young girl is the face of there customer service. I don't know what happened to this place, but I got the yellow curry and both times it was watery and flavorless I got it once at the Montana location and then the other I decided to give it another try at the Mesa location and the same thing it's like they're following this disgusting recipe. It used to be thick and sweet with mushrooms and green onions and cilantro, but now it just tastes really watery and flavorless and no mushrooms or cilantro. I would suggest going to Viet on Zaragoza for authentic Vietnamese food from now on. Also, the service has gone down too because nothing but a bunch of kids are working there. After 20 minutes of being at our table we asked the hostess if we could get a waiter to take our drink and food order since no one had checked in on us. I was disappointed that there wasn't much protein considering I paid extra for it . They have limited parking in the front but there are more parking in the rear. Second time here we tried giving it a second chance after the first time the staff was rude we ended up leaving before ordering. This time around as we went in, there was a written sign on the door that said no brisket and no bean sprouts we waited to be seated as she said therewas going to be a 15-20 min wait but as we were waiting we noticed some people had not been served their food yet. As tables seem to empty out they tried to seat us but the staff started to argue stating that we couldn't be seated due to the kitchen being "backed up." We visited in passing on a road trip. Surprisingly beautiful patio seating with ample bonsai trees and a beautiful fountain with koi fish. It provided for a peaceful and spacious feeling while dining. Much needed during the pandemic. I was impressed by their safety measures- they took our temperatures before seating us and all staff was wearing masks. They only seat 4 people at a table and the tables are widely spaced apart. We ordered lumpia rolls to start- decadent crispy fried rolls. Delicious fish sauce on the side. The pho broth was actually really good, and this is coming from someone who grew up with good local Vietnamese food in Houston. I ordered the brisket and tendon pho, and the tendon was ample and tender. They were not stingy with noodles! We definitely felt that Pho Tre Bien exceeded our expectations on all fronts. Appetizers: Try the Vietnamese egg rolls, they looked & tasted homemade! Don't forget to wrap your egg roll in the lettuce! Drinks: 9.5/10 authentic Thai tea! I had to ask if it was the powder before ordering this drink and thank god they said it was freshly made! It was really good and ask for No whipped cream. I don't know why people started putting that on there but it kinda disgusts me and reminds me of cheap American food. So yeah no whipped cream it taste so delicious and authentic as is. The only reason I considered a four star was because they were understaffed, but from what I could tell, not by choice. The waitress was hustling and keeping drinks filled. I ordered the tofu curry with rice. I will be going back to order the exact same thing soon because it was so delicious. The tofu was perfectly fried on some sides. I wanted a little something after my flight and Vietnamese food is easy and light. Pho Tre Bien has great reviews and it's close to the airport. Easy choice. I ordered a bahn mi but they were out of bread. (It took my server a while to tell me this so I decided on lettuce wraps as a quick option but there was a long wait for them.) I'd wanted a lime mosake drink but my server didn't know how to make it. Another server overheard us and he offered to make me a cherry version. (It was very, very sweet, like drinking cherry syrup.) The pork for my lettuce wraps was seasoned well and delicious. I also liked the pickled cucumbers and pickled shredded carrots and cabbage. My food was really good so I understand why they were pretty full for a Wednesday at 1:30pm. I sat at the bar and the flies were a little annoying (they are attracted to the drink syrups). I would avoid sitting there in summer, even if you're a solo diner. Service was super slow for me and my server seemed a bit stressed. She took a while to tell me that I couldn't get the bahn mi and never refilled my water ( which I was obviously drinking as it was almost empty). And while I was still eating (Food In Hand) she asked if I was ready for my check. I said yes because I thought she wanted to close out her tabs and leave. But again while I have Food In Hand she asks if she can take my water. I say no. WTH?! This new Covid Society gets on my nerves every day. Coming from LA & having eaten pho for 15+ years, this is not an authentic pho spot but overall was executed pretty decently. We stopped by in El Paso during our road trip and wanted to fulfill the asian food cravings so we came here. We walked in at around 1pm on a Tuesday and stood there with no assistance for about 5 minutes until a lady told us they are full so we will have to wait for a table. This was a bit weird since we saw at least 4 empty tables right at the front. Nevertheless, we didn't question her and sat on their bench for about 8 min until someone was ready to seat us. Couple of notes: - There is no fresh mint provided (only lime, jalapeno, bean sprouts, cilantro) - No separate little sauce bowls provided so we used the plate they gave for the bean sprouts - We had to ask for chopsticks since they only give you forks on the table (maybe because the asian community is not strong here?) - The pho is more noodle-heavy compared to what we're used to.
