We were seated right away and I was very happy to see a kids bowl on the menu. As a toddler parent, it awesome seeing restaurants supporting families with kid options. The service was terrible. We've been coming to this restaurant for YEARS and have always had a good experience, so unfortunately the atmosphere this visit was especially disappointing. The restaurant felt very unwelcoming today. Our waitress seemed reluctant to help us and wouldn't let us properly place our order. When we were finally able to order, she was rude throughout the entire interaction. We had to ask for water three times before it was finally brought to us. We ordered pho, and the bowl we received was clearly the regular size. We were told it was a large, but we've been coming here for years and ordering the same thing. We even visited shortly after the restaurant reopened, so we know what the large portion looks like. Normally, when I order pho here, I have enough left over to take home. This time, I finished the entire bowl in one sitting. That alone made it very clear to me that this was not the large portion we've received in the past. Another issue was the advertised 10% off between 3-6 PM. We arrived at 5:30 PM and paid at 5:53 PM, yet the discount was not applied. There were printed signs advertising the promotion, so why advertise a discount if it isn't going to be honored during the stated hours? When we asked about it she said it was applied but I literally just saw the menu with the prices and it wasn't. It's really disappointing to have such a negative experience at a restaurant we've supported for years. The service and overall experience today were nothing like what we've experienced in the past. Plenty of room and quick to sit, easily accommodated us in a booth. I thought the Mongolian beef hit the spot. It's often harder to find in most Chinese food chains, albeit this is a Vietnamese Pho place. Not too spicy and the rice goes well with it. Good fried egg rolls (shrimp and pork), although they do come with the less sweet (and more vinegar) dipping sauce. Will definitely consider next time I'm in San Jose for dinner. read more

Ordered the beef pho. The broth had a gentle and pleasant flavor - clearly cooked from real beef bones. In a San Jose full of cheap pho broths, this place was a refreshing. I will be back to try some other menu items. Be sure to order a large and extra meat if you are hungry. read more

Delicious food and fast service. Place is well lit and clean. We always have take out pho once or twice a week. The ingredients are fresh.

Local gem! The broth stands out versus other pho places we've been to - it's consistently delicious, and the meat and noodles are both solid. Spring rolls (both veg and shrimp) are clean and the peanut sauce is addictive. We tried the Shaking Beef in our last visit, and were also really impressed with the tenderness and flavor. All food has always been fantastic here. I first began visiting Pho To Thi ~12 years ago, and after moving away and back again to San Jose, I was delighted to see they had made it through the pandemic. It's a small, unassuming restaurant, with very friendly service who'll graciously give you space to enjoy your meal. Great spot! read more

Great small family owned business. They are always friendly and the service is fast. I always get the pho with chicken- yum! My son loves the egg rolls. They now have banh mi sandwiches. Nice clean place. Very accommodating since my wife and I were getting on our lunch from work so we called to ordered ahead. Most places don't let you but they did so we when we got there, we were seated and shortly after received our food. I got the pho combination and my wife got the grilled pork vermecelli. I could tell they felt overwhelmed because it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come give us a menu and another 15 to take our order. Even though maybe less than half of their tables were full - they probably had a lot of to-go order. Regardless, the staff were very nice. The food was okay. For the price, the portion sizes were mediocre and the taste was a little weak for my taste. However, everyone has a different profile. I went with my mom, grandpa and daughter... they were very happy with the food and drinks; we ordered chicken wings as appetizers (very good, fresh, crispy and good portion) , for main dishes: chicken noodle soup, sea food noodle soup and rice with beef ribs, everything was good, big portions and very tasty. For drinks, my daughter got strawberry smoothie (which she loved it), my mom got a Boba tea and grandma a lemonade ( a fresh squeezed - delicious drink!) After all it was great!! I'm always disappointed to write bad reviews, but the food here is not good. I guess a new owner took over in the last month or so? The staff kept forgetting parts of the meal (spring rolls didn't have sauce, no spoons to eat the pho, forgot the fish sauce that goes with the noodle dish). It wasn't worth it at all. I was really bummed out to try a new place, but the pho lacked all flavor, the meat was scarce, the noodles were literally noodles pork and cucumbers with fried onions from a can, and it just was not a good experience, unfortunately. Had lunch here today - this is my new favorite Pho restaurant in south San Jose. There are two other Pho restaurants nearer to my house, but they do not do as good a job making a flavorable broth as Pho To Thi. Husband and I had #6 and #11.
