The husband had the brisket and I had my tried and true chicken and veggies. They offer regular and large bowls. We get the regular which is pretty much. How big is the large? Damn. The iced coffee was strong and creamy as usual. So tasty. Service attentive, but not suffocating. New menus, two-sided. I didn't really study it, as I already knew what I wanted. Ha, ha. Pho thien an is right by the North Star mall. We stopped in for lunch after doing some shopping. My husband is a Pho lover and connoisseur, so naturally i became one too, after eating it so much lol! I usually order brisket pho and I did order that here. My mother in law ordered a seafood pho which I've never had and she was happy and satisfied (thank God!) lol I order some fried rolls as well and everything was very delicious! I thought the banh mi was a bit dry and so expensive for banh mi. The bun bo hue wasn't bad but I was disappointed by the broth I felt like it wasn't that flavorful. There was plenty of seating inside and we were seated immediately. The workers were nice and the food came out quickly. There is also a lot of natural lighting inside. read more

This place is right next door to the parking garage of North Star Mall, cute little restaurant with a decent amount of seating. The pho was good but felt simple. The cilantro came on the side and I didn't see any onions in it so while the broth was clean and tasty it just felt simple. Came in on a Sunday around 11 am when they opened and there were a lot of seats available. We were easily attended too. Ordered our usual summer roll and brisket and steak pho. The broth was flavorful! The summer roll was good amount of shrimp, the peanut sauce was a tadbit too think for me. My boyfriend got the #32 Hủ Tiếu and I got the #51 Grilled Pork & Spring Roll (bún chả giò). I really enjoyed my dish, it was very flavorful and had all the traditional ingredients I'm used to. The fish sauce reminds me of my aunt's homemade fish sauce, giving it a very nostalgic and home-y feel! My boyfriend enjoyed the hủ tiếu broth and said it didn't need any extra additives like sriracha or chili oil. Our food came out very quick, and we were checked up on quite a few times! Our waiter and waitress were very sweet and accommodating. We also asked for an avocado-coffee smoothie (unpictured) and they nailed it! We returned the next morning to try other drinks and the staff recognized us and greeted us very kindly. I ordered the bun bo hue with a level 3 spice and wow it's incredible good and savory. I love the spices in the broth and the small pieces of fat on it too. My family makes it similar to this. Been a fan of Vietnamese food for over 15 years and the pho here is as good as I've eaten in Vietnam. Great every single time. Customer service is fantastic and the flavors are superb. I have been going to Thien An for about 5 years They sell the best shrimp summer rolls and for those of you who don't care for seafood they also serve grill pork summer rolls. They are served with delicious peanut sauce I personally like to drizzle sriracha sauce over my peanut sauce. Their grilled pork Banh Mi is delicious the bread is warm and nice crunch to it. Their food is always fresh and delicious. Their pho also pretty good but I specifically come here for summer rolls and Banh Mi sandwiches. I have mixed feelings about Pho Thien An. On one hand, I really enjoyed the pho- I ordered the Shrimp and Veggie with Pork Broth (though I only received four pieces of shrimp... bummer). The food itself is decent, and as someone who hasn't ordered pho more than a handful of times, I believe I could find a cleaner restaurant where I don't have to worry about whether what I'm eating might make me sick. If the front of the restaurant is kept so visibly dirty, I can only imagine what the kitchen must be like. As someone who has worked in the service industry, I know how easy it is to maintain a high Health Inspection Grade. Anything below a 95 is concerning, and their score of 91 is one of the lowest l've seen. Because of this, I can't bring myself to return. I really hope they take steps to improve in the future. read more

We started out with the fresh spring rolls which were just prepared, filled with crisp vegetables, mint and just plain delicious. The egg rolls were crispy, and reminiscent of some of the best Vietnamese restaurants we've visited in our travels, and again, might be the best in town. We came here on the one day it was cold in SA around 1:30pm and surprisingly it was packed. Due to Social Distancing recommendations, all of the seats were taken so we had to wait for about 5 mins which wasn't too bad. What seemed to be the waitress was running around to all the tables, doing to go orders, being the cashier and also busing the tables. I felt so incredibly bad because although she was doing the best job she could, it was hard to keep up. I saw another lady there and some people in the kitchen and they weren't helping her at all. We sat and unfortunately due to the circumstances listed above, waited 30 mins to order our drinks and food. The 1 waitress said that the kitchen was backed up and would take 15 mins for our order. Fifteen minutes didn't seem too long for what we ordered. We ordered the spring rolls, 2 beef Pho's, and 2 to-go orders. 45 minutes later, we finally got our spring roll appetizers and we still have yet to get our Pho. We've been here now for over 1 hour and 15 Minutes and just got our appetizers. Hence the reason behind my 1 photo. The spring rolls were light, crispy and flavorful. They were a little burnt but it was still pretty good. It comes with ice berg lettuce, cilantro and the fish dipping sauce I love. My husband and I scarfed it down but it was well worth the wait. We had somewhere to be and asked if we can get the soups in a to-go container. When we went up to the register to pay 15 mins later, we still hadn't gotten our to-go Pho's or our to-go orders. Mind that it's been 1 hour and 30 Mins now and the waitress quickly put our Pho's together. Our other to-go orders weren't even made! She said it would be 5 mins, only to be told by the cooks that it would take another 15mins. We couldn't wait but they already charged me for the other to-go orders. The same lady who was walking around and wasn't helping the waitress couldn't credit my card so she took out a wad of cash and gave me the difference. The waitress apologized profusely and she is the only reason why I'm giving this place a 2 or I would have just stayed with a 1. Remember, the experience is just as important as the food! The business owners/managers should reconsider their staffs schedule and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure if I'll come back and if I do, I'll make sure I have 3 hours worth of time to waste! read more

Came here for a late lunch with my family. Apparently it's my dad's preferred place in town, but I'm not on board. I found the house pho very salty from the first taste. Sometimes saltiness can build and it was just hard to eat from the beginning for me. I ordered the fried egg rolls and was disappointed that they serve it with iceberg lettuce. That's just cheap, if you ask me. I love eating Viet eggrolls wrapped in Romaine or butter lettuce. There is literally no nutritional value in iceberg lettuce and the texture is terrible with the egg roll. Overall I should've known this place wouldn't be super authentic because half it's menu is other Asian cuisines. They serve a lot of Chinese dishes and appetizers. Came to try this out. I got a steak and meatball phó, crispy egg rolls, and papaya salad. I like to try lots on a menu to give good reviews. However when I put in the big order, the Vietnamese lady said that's too much food for one person. I know that because I can take it home later. I told her I was aware. She proceeded to tell me that it was three meals and was too much food. I told her that I could also go to a different restaurant. She said no I can bring you what you ordered. The phó was wrong, they brought out a steak and brisket, instead of a steak and meatball. I asked her and she said that's what I ordered. When I paid it said steak and meatball. The phó broth was some of the saltiest I have ever had. I was not a fan. I tried to tame it with lime juice, but that didn't even help. I like a fatty bone broth that I can bring to my own enjoyment. The crispy egg rolls. Not so sure. They were loaded with pork and other items but the flavor was lacking. The star of this meal was the papaya salad. It was great. A nice lemon grass flavor, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, pepper, shrimps, and peanuts. I give the papaya salad 5 stars, the phó 0 stars, the egg rolls 1 star. I've tried the Pho, Bun and other noodle dishes here. They are great! But since I've been eating low carb, I tried the chicken lettuce wraps. They are so flavorful and are served with pickled carrot and daikon, peanuts, cilantro and lettuce. The appetizer is plenty enough for a meal.
