Although they were unable to comply with my request for no cilantro because the onions, scallions, and cilantro were pre-mixed together, the server offered it on the side so I could pick it out myself, which I appreciated. The pho itself was underwhelming because the brisket was tough and I couldn't finish it. The soup was just okay, I've had better in Brooklyn and Manhattan. My family ordered the rice dishes as they have come here before and had advised the rice was better than the pho. The grilled pork chop on rice was pretty good. Long overdue review! My husband and I dine at Pho Rainbow at least once a month and this has become his favorite restaurant since moving to SI 3 years ago. I decided to throw his birthday party here with family last night, and it wound up being such a great idea. The lovely host assisted my family with the menu, suggested meals and appetizers for the group and even brought out some fried chicken wings for my 4 year old nephew (who was also enamored by the fish tank in the back of the restaurant). Solid pho experience! My friend recommended it and I didn't have high expectations tbh because I'm generally flushing and Brooklyn has "better" food but I was pleasantly surprised. An awesome, cozy restaurant serving great Vietnamese food on New Dorp Lane! I have been here several times throughout the years and I love eating their roasted pork banh mi. I have also had their fried spring rolls (Cha Gio) which were also delicious and crispy. The Cha Gio tastes fantastic when complemented with the lettuce wraps they serve on the side. I also enjoy pairing up some of the roasted pork slices from my banh mi sandwich with the lettuce wraps, another classic delicious combo. I have dined in and also did pick-up at this restaurant, they do not take very long to serve (about ~15 minutes each time I have went). As others have mentioned, the parking around this area isn't great but this is on New Dorp Lane - a busy street on the East Shore with lots of great places to eat including this one. It would be best to park on a side street nearby the block if you want to come dine here! Will be coming back - I hope to try some of their soups next time! read more

This place is delicious. Authentic Vietnamese in SI. I've been there before covid and been ordering take out while wishing that I can dine in soon. Pho needs to be eaten fresh and in the restaurant to really immerse yourself in the flavors. So when they finally had indoor dining, I was so excited and made a trip from Brooklyn to try. They follow pandemic guidelines with spacing the customers out and the place is very clean with a bottle of hand sanitizer on each table. I highly recommend for you to try. Great for if you're in the neighborhood shopping around or running errands. I recommended their pork chop Vietnamese sandwich. They use the same grilled pork chops as they would that accompany their noodles and rice. I have never had grilled pork chop in my Vietnamese sandwiches before but once I tried it here, to be very honest, I always order it to share. The pho is on point, this is a legit viet establishment. The soup is very comforting and I am 100% drinking that huge bowl of soup. It does not leave you thirsty for water as it is not as salty as some of these other restaurants I've tried around town. My second time coming to this place! The first was actually maybe a year ago. I decided to come back because I was craving pho and this place is still very good. Both experiences were great! Very nice service with good quality food. They have to have the best crab Rangoon! Very crunchy on the outside and perfectly filled inside with sweet dipping sauce. Their pork chops are also very flavorful and juicy. My boyfriend got the beef cube fried rice and loved the rice. Nice portion, again with very juicy beef cubes! Probably one of the best fried rices I have ever had. I got the pho noodles which is always my go to order in any pho restaurant! I've been here twice and both times I ordered soemthing different that was not really authentic to me. The beef broth for the pho was not as flavorful as other places I have been to. The bahn mi was surprisingly delicious and perfectly toasted. The beef cube fried rice was not really your typical beef cubes. I don't know what it was but it was just not the same as how other places usually make it. It does get super busy during weekdays at night time so try to come early. Pho dac biet: the broth tasted decent. Flavor was not as strong or oily as another viet place I frequent, but still decent. Huge bowl. Beef cube white rice: the beef cubes were disappointing. I would not recommend ordering it from here. The flavor was not as strong as other places. It tasted more like chinese food. I normally love beef cube rice but this dish did not satisfy. Condensed milk hot coffee. They serve it with a metal coffee drip thingy on top of a white teacup. When they serve it to you, you have to wait a couple minutes before you can drink it, cuz u gotta wait for the drip. Interesting. But my coffee got cold by the time I was able to drink it. Yummy simple Vietnamese. I came here on a chilly winter night with my boyfriend and we had fresh brewed tea within a minute of sitting down. So good and much needed in this weather! We ordered tofu summer rolls and butterfly shrimp spring rolls. The summer rolls were standard and decent. The shrimp rolls were ridiculously spicy!! Super spicy and flavorful jalapeños are wrapped up with the shrimp. For our entree we ordered the vegetable pho and the shrimp beef broth pho. My boyfriend loved his and it was super flavorful. However, I've had better vegetable pho elsewhere. The veggies were basic and I would have loved some tofu. However, it was a solid bowl of pho! I've been to Pho Rainbow a few times now with family, and can definitely see our visit rate going up now that the weather is getting cooler again. Not the best pho or Vietnamese food in the city, but pretty solid and the Vietnamese place we like most on Staten Island. There is a lot of the menu that we haven't tried, as we always seem to gravitate towards the appetizers and soups on our visits. The goi cuon (summer rolls) and cha gio (spring rolls) are both good options. The appetizers we seem to order most lately are the fried calamari, which comes with grilled onions and a really zesty seasoning, and the banh cuon, steamed rice rolls that are light and fresh with lots of flavor. The soup I like best is the pho ca vien, rice noodle beef soup with fish ball. The beef broth is good, although not as rich as some others you'll find in the city. It comes with a good number of halved fish balls, plenty of noodles, scallions, onions, and fried garlic, along with the usual basil and bean sprouts on the side. It's a very satisfying soup for only $6.75. (The soup prices top out at $8.50 anyway, so very affordable.) Looking forward to getting more of that when the weather goes really cold! read more

I haven't had good Pho since pre-pandemic days. So I decided to try this place on a whim, and am I glad I did!! We got spring rolls (delish), dumplings, pho (both beef and veggie) and some grilled chicken. It was all delicious! I love that there were options for veggie, chicken or beef broth for the veggie pho! And the broth!! AMAZING! My husband got the Thai iced tea which was scrumptious. This is the best Vietnamese food you can find on Staten Island! My favorite thing ever on the menu is their crispy squid/fried calamari. It's perfectly seasoned with white pepper and salt and it's so crispy. I think I also tasted some Chinese 5 spice powder. The squid is not chewy but soft and it just makes for a great combination. They also sauté it with onions and the onions soak up all the seasonings and it goes so well with the squid. HIGHLY recommend this dish. The spring rolls are super crispy (they use the correct rice paper which a lot of Vietnamese places don't) and it results in a crunchy/slight chewy texture that perfectly complements the meat inside! The pho broth is pretty decent but I feel like it's lacking a little depth. You can taste the spices such as the star anise but I feel like it's missing that salty, fatty flavor that makes pho so comforting. Overall it isn't bad and it's my favorite pho compared to others on Staten Island. read more

The grilled pork chop was tough. The presentation of the dish was nice but it was a coverup of the rice. The portion of rice was the same size as the egg.
