We ordered for delivery. We got the chicken green curry and chicken khao soi. The green curry was pretty bland and did not have enough protein. The khao soi was really delicious and flavorful. I would try this place again but would probably not do any of the curries. read more

We got the Pad Thai and the Talay Shrimp, everything was cooked wonderfully and tasted amazing! Their hospitality and kindness were also amazing. Worth taking the ferry trip for! read more

This was a small family owned Thai spot right near the Staten Island ferry station. It's a no frill, seated fast food spot. It reminded me of the Chinese take out places but Thai style and it was the first of its kind that I have tried. My friend had just finished a half marathon in Staten Island and so we wanted to enjoy a meal right after to celebrate. We were the only ones with this plan, other runners and friends came to celebrate and enjoy their after run meals as well. We ordered the Green Curry with shrimp, Eggplant with Basil Sauce with chicken sautéed, Mama's Fried Chicken with French fries, we substituted the white rice with brown rice for extra 2 dollars, and got the taro bubble tea. We ordered and paid for our food and waited for about 20 minutes for everything to be prepared. There were two people running the entire place but they were pretty quick given the amount of constant people coming in. We sat down and chatted. The food was served to our table and we got plates and spoons as we all ate family style. The taste was amazing and it tasted very authentic and home made. It felt comforting both a lot of flavor and the perfect texture. It will give us another reason to visit Staten Island again, even if it is Thai from this gem of a place. read more

Talay Restaurant - Chicken Pad Si Eu Noodle with Thai Iced Tea - Thai Near Me - Staten Island, New York

Love the house just not the location. Parking is a pain. A take out spot with a few tables. Kitchen is legit though, great food. The people at the front are very nice. I've gone here a couple of times with a friend and have not been disappointed with my food or drinks choices. Come on Talay, there are plenty of empty store fronts with parking up Victory. Wink wink, nudge. read more

There are only a few "must have's" anytime I am back in this bit of Atlanta Metro! Talay always makes the list and is the favorite of my team at work! Great food and service! Be warned, if you ask for something to be very "hot/spicy" they will push you to the limits of human endurance! read more

Disgusting. Do not eat here. They serve the food with side of hair in it. Unacceptable. I would post the picture but I was so disgusted and disappointed that I almost vomit and threw it immediately in the trash. read more

The food here is amazing. It's woman and POC owned so definitely go support this place. Their lunch special is literally cheap (only 12 bucks). You get a great quantity of food. The restaurant isn't really a sit and eat restaurant. It's more of a to go restaurant. But it's great for lunch and amazing food. read more

Talay Restaurant - Thai Near Me - Staten Island, New York

So we eat out a lot! I love good food and I appreciate great service. I believe that when the food is not cooked properly, the chef and business owner should make it right. Talay Thai Restaurant on Staten Island misses the mark for service as well as food quality. So lunch since delivery was $20.(we are literally 5 min away from our house) So drove over to pick up our lunch. Our food tasted like coconut milk and was bland as bland could be. We called and they told us that they would send us spices to mix in the food but was not willing to make it right. Are you joking? $50.00 and they could care less. (And $10.00 for sticky rice???? Really????) So much for quality control. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! This was the worst experience that I have had at any Thai restaurant. We ended up tossing our meals with great disappointment. I can not recommend this place at all. They have no quality control in the kitchen, seem to careless about your experience and appear to simply want your money. With so many other great places to eat on Staten Island I would skip this one. read more

This place is great! Really friendly and nice staff. I have ordered the pineapple fried rice with chicken and it was really good. The rice, cashews, and pineapple blended in pretty well. The chicken is a little bit bland, but still a good overall meal to eat. Would come here again for a quick good Thai bite. read more

if you're looking for some seriously good Thai food, you gotta check out Talay. This place is the bomb! First off, the folks who work there are super nice and welcoming, so you know you're in for a good time. And don't even get me started on the food! They've got all your favorites like Pad Thai and Green Curry, but also some lesser-known dishes that'll blow your mind. My personal faves are the Massaman Curry (so creamy and delicious!) and the Pineapple Fried Rice (it's like a party in your mouth). And the best part? Everything is made fresh and with high-quality ingredients, so you know you're getting the real deal. read more

Serviceable Thai takeout for the times I don't feel like treking out to Elmhurst. Portions are small for the price.

This review is long overdue. It all started when I was looking for Thai restaurants close to home as my favorite restaurant has odd hours. Anyway, I found this NEW restaurant and placed an order to give it a try. I planned to pick the order on my way home. Lo and behold when I got there I could not find parking. I called asked if they could bring the order outside. They blatantly said "NO" and I was fuming. I should have taken the hint that customers service was going to be bad. I had to drive around to find a parking spot close to the restaurant. Mind you I was on a one way street. Finally, I parked on the main road by the post office; looked for coins in my purse to secure 1/2hr. time meter ticket to be then placed on my dashboard. Walked uphill to the restaurant which is right across from the courthouse. When it was time to pay they did not know how to proceed a $50 vanilla gift card. Good thing I reserved 1/2 hr. parking, because it took that long to figure it out. I ordered my usual pad Thai, Thai spring rolls and Thai eggplant. The food was not that bad. I made several more trips by pre-planning my parking situation. Last Friday was my sayonara order. Here is what happened. I had guests from overseas and found out that one of my guest has a peanut allergy. I wanted to give my guests a new food experience. I called ahead to inquire if they could accommodate with ensuring me NO peanut ingredients were used. They said yes. At this point they understood that it was going to be a significant order, I took a chance and asked if they could bring out the order outside as I was paying cash. The said yes. I reviewed the online menu and made my list. At the time of my order as I was calling out the Thai dish I asked "there are no peanut ingredients in this dish Right! Th woman taking the order started to get an attitude. As I was placing my order a wanted confirmation that that particular dish did not contain any peanuts in any form or shape. She had the audacity to say "did you read the menu, if peanuts is not listed, then the dish does not contain peanuts." I am the customer, if I want you to verbally confirm, then you should go along with me and pleasantly confirm. Try to pick up mu cues of uneasiness, helm me make me feel at ease as I don't know if my guest brought an epi-pen with her. At the end of my order I asked if they would be adding a surprise for my guests as the order was quite large. I must have said it several time as the woman though I was speaking martian as she did not understand what I was saying. She said "NO" I have had restaurants add a little surprise when my orders were above a certain dollar amount, an incentive to keep me as a customer. The lack of customers service in this locale leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth. To add, more fuel to the fire, after half hour I got a call that said I could park in front of the restaurant after 5pm. Once again the lack of customer service as if the restaurant was full of customers. nada! zero! The food was enjoyed by my foreign guests who had never tasted Thai food. They had nothing to compare to, I on the other hand found that all of dishes to be bland. I had a large order yet it was ready in 1/2 hr. By that alone tells me they are rushing orders out because they are too busy and don't spend enough time on getting it RIGHT. There was absolutely NO UMAMI. I was very, very disappointed. I'm here to say that's It was my last order, I don't like wasting my money. It's time to move my orders to Chang Noi ! down the block. I will keep you posted on this restaurant. I have been there several times a couple of years ago and i hadn't yelped about it yet. read more

Solid take out spot. Ordered two classic dishes, chicken pad Thai and shrimp Pad See Ew. Both were very flavorful. Good portions. Inside decor is not much to look at. Friendly service. Will definitely order again. read more

While looking at the menu I heard the woman in front of us along for things and the woman behind the counter didn't have them. When I got up there I asked for something they also didn't have it. Went ahead and ordered chicken with broccoli and garlic sauce. The menu didn't say it had soy sauce in it but I told her I couldn't have it in there anyway. My sister got the mixed veggies in cashew sauce, leek cakes and a Pina colada drink. They give everyone's meals to go but we are in the dining room. She offered us plates. When I tried to take the food out of the bag everything spilled. Idk if the caps weren't on right or the containers don't hold liquid well. Both our sauces were watery. Mine tasted good and I usually have a problem with chicken from places but there's was good. My sister said hers tasted good and liked her variety of vegetables. She really the leek cakes with the sauce it came with. The drink was good too. We both agreed it wasn't a place we'd run back. read more

Soo good. Scarfing down my shrimp pad thai and tom yum. So much shrimp. Will recommend this thai spot!

We had to pinch ourselves! What a wonderful takeout experience we had! The food was fresh and well seasoned. 4 people ordered 4 different dishes and we all marveled how each dish maintained its identify, not getting lost in the ease of oh-just-make-it-taste-the-same-but-use-different-ingredients humdrum of many restaurants. The Tom Yum soup was delicious, seasoned just right with a delectable lemon grass flavor throughout. Mains were eggplant with basil sauce (yes, the Thai kind!) Tofu with cashew sauce, Pad Ki Mow (otherwise known as drunken noodle), and Green Curry. All were excellent. Each of the dishes had a choice of Chicken, beef or shrimp, vegetables or tofu. Something there for everyone, and the spring rolls were still crisp when we got home. Yeah, definitely going back to this one! read more

Just ordered takeout from here and had high hopes but was VERY disappointed. Not only was the garlic chicken & vegetables VERY BLAND, the portion was extremely small and it contained only 6 small pieces of chicken. And $22 for a TINY piece of salmon with a few veggies? You should be ashamed of yourself! I will not be ordering from here again. read more

This is a small place you can order to go or sit down to eat. The food is fresh and flavorful. Truly delicious. I had the basil fried rice with chicken, a tom yum soup and a pineapple boba tea. My boyfriend has the Mama's fried chicken with french fries and chicken satay with a boba tea as well. The portions are satisfying. The staff are polite. I have to say it again, the food is fresh and flavorful! I will be going back again and again! read more

I've had my eye on this place for several months and finally took the plunge and ordered takeout for my birthday lunch. I went to the restaurant to pickup the food myself. The woman at the counter was very polite and courteous and took care of my transaction right away. Things got even better when I got home: the food was absolutely delicious! I had the Pad Ki Mow/drunken noodles lunch special which I ordered with tofu, and crispy fried spring rolls with sweet and spicy sauce came on the side. The noodles were still steaming hot when I took the lid off the dish and oh, what a treat! The dish was flavorful, fresh, and complex bursting with chili and Thai basil all throughout. I almost couldn't believe it was so tasty. I cannot wait to go back and try more dishes! read more

i'd tried their mama chicken and found it to be good. so after that i tried ordering $45.00 worth of lunch and could not eat it .. it looked like someone took this lunch out of the garbage and plated it to send out to for me to eat. so insulted and dissappointed worst thai dishes i ever tried to eat. the noodles were stuck together like they had sat out all night - the shrimp was rotten spit it out the only item in the order i could use was the can of ginger ale. not for 45.00 and not for one penny. oh well was hoping my neighborhood had added a decent new place to eat.... not so bumbed. read more
