I can't believe I haven't review Chang Noi! Ever since I moved to SI a year and a half ago. My husband and I have stopped by here a couple of times, both dinning in and take outs. If you have time, you should try to dine in at their place. It's usually nice and quiet with locals. Their service is fast but their inside is nice and clean. Chang Noi may be the best Thai food there is in the St. George area in Staten Island. As there aren't a lot of restaurants around. Although there is another Thai food cafe down the street on Stuyvesant Pl, in my opinion, this is the better Thai option. The prices have increased a bit since we moved here, partly due to inflation. A regular noodle dish like Pad Thai, or Pad Sew Ew is now $18 instead of $12/$15 than a couple of years ago. The Mango salad is now $12 instead of $7/$10. Lucky for you all, they do lunch specials so definitely take advantage of their lunch specials if you get a chance. What's more, the food is pretty good! Yesterday, I ordered two dishes for pick up and it took less than 15 mins to be ready. If you're in a hurry, this is a good choice as well! read more

This Gem in St. George area satisfied, we came for lunch on a Sunday (which they close fairly early like 5 but didn't rush us. They have a seating and to go side. The decor is beautiful all wood with traditional Thailand carving. We ordered the vegetable dumpling which were tasty and the calamari which were thick but good. I had a very disappointing experience at Chang Noi Thai. I ordered my food to go, but since the restaurant was completely empty, I decided to sit and eat there instead. To my surprise, I was told I wasn't allowed to eat inside because my order was placed as takeout. There were no customers, plenty of available seating, and no clear reason for this policy to be enforced so strictly. It felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming. Ran into Chang Noi Thai in Staten Island by accident while walking around--and what a great find! The food and pricing were absolutely outstanding. We arrived around 3:50 PM, just before their lunch break (they close from 4-5 PM), so we felt a little rushed to order. But honestly, it wasn't a problem at all--the staff was still friendly, and everything that followed made it totally worth it. The food came out fast, fresh, and packed with flavor. I had the Drunken Noodles with Mock Duck, Shrimp Roll, and a Thai Iced Tea (which is a must-try!). We also ordered Thai Fried Rice and Tofu with Mixed Vegetables. Every dish was delicious, and the portions were generous. The price for three people was incredibly reasonable, especially for the quality. The restaurant is clean, has an "A" health grade, and even features a bar (we didn't try drinks this time, but good to know for next visit). The place had a nice casual, yet intimate motiff. Very cozy and surprisingly spacious. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. For starters, we had the Curry Puffs and the Chicken Stay. Quite tasty. For dinner, we ordered the Larb Chicken, Shrimp Panang Curry, Crab Fried Rice, Chicken Drunken Noodles and the Duck Roll. Everything was scrumptious. They even had a good wine list. I was pleasantly surprised with my dinner here. Perhaps because I have very low expectations for anything on Staten Island--not sure. However, the food was solid. The ambiance is beautiful. Whatever playlist they were also bumping was on point. For appetizers we ordered the chive pancakes and curry puffs (both unpictured). The chive pancakes were tasty, but the size was criminal. The appetizer is composed of four triangles of pancake. The dimensions are about 1" x 1" x 1". I just think the value was terrible because it was literally two bites. So I wouldn't order this again. I think it would make more sense to order an additional entree and split it lol. The curry puffs weren't bad either. The appetizer also came with four pieces. I must say--the curry puffs at Noodle Fan (also on Staten Island) are better. I found Chang Nois to not be as flavorful. Usually I can plow through 4-6 of them at Noodle Fan in minutes, but I didn't find myself wanting any additional puffs at Chang Noi. The entrees were pretty good. Just order from this place. I got green curry, mango salad, taro desserts & lychee drink... The mango salad was absolutely horrific, smelled horrible and the mango's were even ready. Green curry wasn't even green or good. It was extremely watery. The lychee drink was in a cab & the taro was super weird but it was the only thing I really liked. I called the place to ask for a refund, a discount or a replacement for my order. The lady over the phone told me she couldn't do anything for me since I didn't dine in. She began to tell me the mangos arent in season so that's why they weren't orange or yellow. They mangos are literally pale yellow. I'm definitely coming back to speak to the order.
