I wanted something for lunch and I happen to have been in the coral Island shopping center and I stopped by red Ginger, and instead of taking my order to go I decided to dine inside. I placed my order for some wonton soup and a side order of steamed chicken and string beans with sauce on the side. Service was excellent. The place was very clean. Tables were very clean. The atmosphere was quiet , atmosphere it was about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. And the food was delicious. I can't complain a bit. I like their wonton soup versus some of their other competitors because they are wrapped like a little round pocket and the meat is not grizzly or fatty and this is my reasons why I like their wonton soup. Sorry to do this but I think this is a case where the wrong things were ordered. Though, I don't know how you can mess up plain fried rice and pre made dumplings. Simply awful lunch. I did also get a shrimp with broccoli special, which was good, no problem there. I'll stick with only this, if I ever order from there again. This was the second time I ordered take out from them. Yesterday I ordered a lunch special combo. Beef with black bean sauce. This is usually excellent. Not yesterday. Probably ran out of the ingredients to make this dish and substituted the black bean sauce with a spicy barbecue sauce. Didn't even try to hide a black bean to cover up the wrong sauce. Not only was this inedible but the pork fried rice looked like it was made last week. Delivery guy sweating bullets as it was extremely hot yesterday wouldn't leave until a desired tip in his mind was handed over. This is the best Chinese food on Staten Island. Sesame or Honey chicken have chunks of white meat. The diet chicken is the best, the house special Lo mien was great. Basil beef was delicious. Moo shoo beef is great. We order at least once a week . read more

Living in Travis does not give us a lot of options for home delivery. Thank goodness for Red Ginger! This is our go to Chinese food spot. They definitely do not cook with MSG (because if they did, I would feel ill immediately). My husband and I get something from here a couple of times a month, and we are always happy. Delivery man is always kind, on time, and food is always nice and fresh. I often get the noodle soup, and we often order off the Thai part of the menu. The Thai combination platters are delicious. Sauce was in a separate container and cold. Shrimp was dried out and rock hard. Like they deep fried it hours before and then refried it for our order. Inedible. I was in the mood for Chinese this evening so I went on grub hub to see what was around. I never heard of this place nor have I seen it in person but decided to give it a shot. I have to say I was impressed. Really enjoyed my dinner. I got the general tso chicken with pork fried rice. I don't like it smothered in sauce so I asked for "less sauce" and it came perfect. The price is right, the food is awesome. A college friend of mine recommended me this place as a "togo place" for Chinese food and i gave it a try. Among the array of dishes they have, the Mango Shrimp is my favorite. Its sweet and if you like spicy, make it extra spicy as its not spicy at all but gives it a kick. I order extra hot sauces to spice things up further. Usually i order when i am in campus, but when i came in today for food, it was empty and well cleaned. This is our favorite Chinese-Thai take-out restaurant on Staten Island. There are some tables but most business is take-out. My wife thinks that their Shrimp Pad Thai is outstanding. She absolutely adores their Chicken with Eggplant. The Thai Tom Yom Soup is spicy delicious. On a recent visit we added Fried Chicken Wings which were meaty, crisp skin and moist meat. We have found the ingredients in all the dishes to be be very fresh. The portions are quite large. The food preparation is excellent. The food in this "take-out" is better than the fare in most Chinese SI restaurants. We are of Chinese descent and we are price sensitive, and we think Red Ginger is a restaurant gem on Staten Island! read more

The dipping sauce was great. Egg roll was a bit flakey and not greasy, which I enjoyed. Rice was a bit bland, and general tsaos was too saucy without any spice and the chicken was not crunchy. I love this place. They're food is really good but on the pricey side. I love that they have dumplings and honestly I love there chicken dumplings more then there pork ones. I've had the boneless spareribs and they are really good but I feel like I'd get the regular not lunch special. I'll start off by saying that based on food quality, portion size, price, and cleanliness, this was my go to place for Chinese food. I've noticed the quality drop the last few times I ordered from there That said......I ordered orange beef last night which is my favorite chinese dish. I've had it from there before and loved it. Well this time was different. When I started eating it, I realized that it was all dough and very little meat. Some pieces were dough only with no meat at all. To put in perspective....a piece the size of a ping pong ball had a piece of meat the size of an eraser. I was totally surprised and annoyed which led me to write this review. I'd give it 1 star but to be fair, I don't usually write reviews and never did when I was happy with the place so I gave it 3 stars. But that orange beef was worthy of 0 stars. I hope they learn that trying to be frugal will end up hurting them and get back to what they once were. I've seen other reviews pointing out the skimping on ingredients to save a few cents. Their food is good. It's what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant & they're not pricey. However, I had it delivered to my job and I had said please come in to the lobby. When the guy called and said he was here I said ok can you meet me in the lobby and he just kept saying can't you come outside. And I may have been petty in giving him a bad tip but he then said, "that's it?!?" If you don't wanna go inside why are you delivering food?!
