A great Vietnamese place tucked right in beside H-Mart. The broth was very flavorful and definitely was able to stand on its own without any sauce. We made a trek to Catonsville specifically for Pho. I was familiar with the shopping center Pho Pasteur is located in so I figured it had to be authentic. We went in to order take out and the young lady at the counter was very helpful and courteous. We ordered 3 different pho dishes, a vermicelli dish, the beef wrapped in grape leaves, egg roles and 2 drinks with boba (1 tea, 1 smoothie). It wasn't until we got to our next destination that we realized they forgot an order of pho. I also felt the ratios were way off. We got way more noodles than we needed in comparison to the broth, meat and veggies. The food was wrapped up separately for you to assemble yourself which more take out places should do. The food was good even though we were missing some of it. The broth had excellent flavor, the veggies were fresh and crisp. The meat quality was decent and cooked perfectly. The appetizers were also good but nothing to write home about. I'm sure we will go back to this place again and eat in as opposed to carrying out. Will probably try some other Vietnamese places in the area first though. read more

I was there on the 16th Saturday. Food was great. The problem is with the credit card system, it was down. It's obviously not the first time, since I see another review here earlier than that day that mentions the same problem. I wasn't happy with it since I had to walk to the ATM at the nearby bank to withdraw money (and got charged an extra $3 for transaction fee): the staff at the nearby H-Mart told me that they didn't have an ATM like the Pho Pasteur staff told me that H-Mart would. And till I left, I didn't see the Pho Pasteur staff notify any of the other seated customers either about the card machine being down, I'm guessing the others also might have discovered it only at the end of the meal when they tried to pay. read more

One of the best pho I had so far in the east coast, the waiter also friendly. Service was really fast. I ordered #1 XL it was close to $9.00 and I was full the whole day lol. I moved to the Baltimore area about four months ago. I was in philly previously and pho was a weekly staple. i mean its really great and just what you need on a sunday for lunch. So naturally i searched the baltimore area for the best pho. I must say the Pho here is the best. the summer rolls were awful.. but pho is definitely the best. i think pho saigon is overrated. fried rolls didnt come out last time until we were nearly done with our pho so that was unpleasant. however the overall decor was far nicer than the spartan settings of philly viet town pho. overall, this is our main pho spot for two big pho lovers. read more

We have come here at least 5 times and will keep coming. We order the small chicken pho and there are large pieces of chicken and the most delicious broth. I have had it a few other places and it is dim flavor next to this place. If you have never tried Pho you need to try it here and it will be a new favorite. Ordered the pho ga (chicken pho). Broth was clean tasting with well-developed flavors, but not overly salty. Serving was generous and there was plenty of chicken and noodles. Only one wedge of lime was served. I like my pho with a fair amount of lime. When I asked for more, the server was very generous with bringing more to the table. Overall, a very decent bowl of pho. Been to several pho places in Catonsville; and for the price and meager portion of Pho I am confused why people like this place a lot.... The place is conveniently located by the Hmart strip which is convenient before/after grocery shopping. The plus side: has chicken broth selection and has a set selection for 2 people if you want to eat a lot. The downside: the broth came out WARM (people were asians and used to hot soup, that's why you use breath to cool it down), portion is small, and they got my order WRONG (already stated the number, the name and pointed it out on the menu). If its an ordinary Friday there would have been no problem but I'm on my Meatless Fridays. So they just removed the pork barbecue from my order at the kitchen (but the authentic pork barbecue recipe by the way for the Pho was not a head turner at all), so I had no choice but ate my Pho with clear noodles with seafood supposedly only but still has ground meat on it still. Even my non-asian boyfriend says he still likes the Pho#1 in Catonsville area. I'm sorry for the low scoring but wrong orders should be fixed appropriately and not just fixed to save extra bucks for tour restaurant. Will not recommend this to my Asian and American friends =( read more

Oh my god. This pho place is possibly the worst pho I have ever tasted. The broth is extremely salty, like wayyyyy too salty. The best part of a pho bowl is the broth, and this place makes the broth too salty giving customers high blood pressure. What else is bad? Well, the meat is too chewy, it needs to be boiled longer. Other pho places makes the meat very tender and savory. This pho place makes your teeth hurt from chewing and possibly choking. IN LOVE! My neighbors, my husband, and I are hooked! We went a few times in 1 week! I highly recommend the Spicy Bun (I think it's #39). So flavorful that I actually described it as "intoxicating". I was there a few days ago and I tried the Pho Ga (chicken) instead of the beef offerings. It was pretty good since they used chicken broth instead of beef where some of the other Pho restaurants use. I saw Guy Fieri having Pho Ga in a Vietnamese restaurant so this was why I gave it a try. This is the absolute best pho restaurant that I have found in the catonsville area and is one of the best I've ever been to. The cooks make wonderful tasting pho broth here and you can tell that they take their time preparing it. Some places serve canned beef broth, which is terrible by the way, but not here. In addition to great tasting pho it is priced wonderfully. There is a good selection of other kinds of food, but I get the pho every time I come here. Com and bun are on the menu, as well as various appetizers, but I haven't ordered them yet. Another interesting point is that their pho ga is actually made with chicken broth instead of beef broth with chicken thrown in like some other places. The cuts of meat that are served with the pho here are also high quality. They only use tender cuts of meat and serve a satisfying amount. Bathroom is always nice and clean. This place is HORRIBLE!!! Just don't even bother coming here! It was my second time visiting this place in a long time and I did not have any problems on my first visit but on my second visit, customer service was the worst I had ever experienced anywhere! My friend and I came in 40mins before close and one of the guys who work there was obviously upset that we came in 'late' because I guess he was just ready to clean up and go home. Mind you, there were still people in the restaurant eating. He told us to sit anywhere and then he immediately gave us menus and then after about 2mins he was ready to take our order. We did not even get a chance to skim the menu and my friend who had decided that she wanted to try Vietnamese food for the first time was not even sure what she wanted, but was basically forced to make an immediate decision. We order two different drinks with our food and they were both horrible. The attitude of our guy waiter just made everything bad and we were just ready to stop eating and leave due to the pressure we felt just for sitting in a restaurant that was not even at it's scheduled time of close. We left no tip and decided to politely write our reason for it on the receipt, and as we were leaving, I saw our waiter guy show his other coworker the note we wrote and they started laughing at it. This shows how unprofessional they are and how they do not value their customers opinion. I felt really bad that my friend first impression of a Vietnamese restaurant was not a pleasant one thanks to the horrible service. read more

The best pho restaurant, and the one I just go back to as it has the best pho at a very good price. They have napkins, saucers, and sauces all on the table for us to use. So we do not have to ask for those. The pho I get is flank and steak, and the proportion of meat is very generous compared to other pho restaurants. I often get alot of meat in my large pho noodle soup...every time. The soup is delicious, the meat proportion to noodles is very very generous, and the service is very good. The manager is an asian man who is very nice and often helps out with the waiters and is very cheerful all the time. The atmosphere of the restaurant is comfy and serene, the space is large. I like the booth seats as there are many. Please try this pho restaurant out, I bring all my friends and family here to go here with me, and they all like the pho here. Some of the reviews here are obviously fake - So I'll give you a real review. The food here is really just okay. It doesn't suck and it isn't really above the average. Normally the only pho places I go to only do pho, and they are the best. This is true in this case. The pho here is not the best I ever had. The first thing I noticed was the lack of cilantro, onion and greenery in the bowl. The broth was lighter, or watered down, and the meat was soft, but almost too soft. That's why I like to get all the different meats - they have the different textures and chewiness - but when everything is soft and the same it just becomes really bland. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls was too sweet and not enough peanut. The actual spring rolls are packed too much with rice noodles. They'd taste a lot better if they put more basil and/or mint. They just use cheap filler. They do have the notorious blood soup called Bun Spicy, with pork blood cubes. You can't get that everywhere, so maybe try that if you go. Overall, if you're in this area, go to Haanori Town instead and get some Korean food. So many good options over there. If pho pasteur wants to survive, they need to tone down the swanky decor (who cares, asian food isn't suppose to be about fine dining) and focus more on the food - and go more authentic. Me and my friend had our dinner here and she ordered a seafood noodle soup. I noticed the shrimp in her soup had a rotten taste. My friend had a diarrhea after the dinner....I myself ordered one of their pho noodle soups, and I got it literally 45 seconds after I placed my order (looked like it was pre-made). The noodle was sour and all meat had a rotten taste. I didn't eat at all (which saved me from having a diarrhea). The worse thing about this place is the service: they gave us a bowl that I found dirty (there was a piece of leftover vegetable sticking in it). I asked the waiter to change a bowl BUT he simply wiped it off with his finger and gave the same bowl to us!!!!!!! So freaking gross!!!! And worse still, the leftover was still there, along with his fingerprint!!!!!! We went to this place because it appears to have a high rating on Google. Maybe it was good in the past, but definitely no longer now!!!!! I've been to at least 20 Vietnamese restaurants in the US and Southeast Asia, and this is undoubtedly the worst one. read more

This is one of my go-to pho places. I always get a small number 1 with spring and/or summer rolls, and the taste is always consistent. Service is great and the food comes out so incredibly fast.
