East county finally has a legit Vietnamese restaurant and the pho is amazing! We ordered the Pho Mai with the beef ribs and it did not disappoint. Broth was rich and tasty and beef was tender. We also ordered the beef stew which was also amazing. The beef was tender and this broth was also flavorful. Service was attentive so much that they noticed my partner had not eaten the beef that was in his stew and came to ask if the beef was not tender enough which it was. This is a pretty solid Pho restaurant that serves hot dishes with deep flavors. There's a great balance of fatty broth to slow roasted spices where it's not too salty or too watery. I got an onion and fried garlic soup that I've never heard of before and it was a great addition to the already exceptional dish. I got to enjoy a delicious bowl of soup while gazing upon the giant mural of Ha Long Bay and listening to the subtle musical track of native Vietnamese songs. We were excited to try Pho Mai Cali in Santee because some of my friends recommended it. The restaurant is cozy, beautiful, and clean, which made it even more appealing. We ordered a few dishes, and I tried the House Combo Rice Vermicelli and the Mango Salad. I didn't really like the Mango Salad, maybe because there was too much mint, but I loved the Lychee Lemonade! Great spot for Vietnamese food especially if you dont want to drive all the way to Convoy street. I didnt have the chance to try the pho, but I ordered the shaken beef fries, crab fried rice, Hainan chicken, fried bao buns and potstickers. The highlight of the night was the shaken beef fries. It had amazing flavor with onions, peppers, cubed steak and fries. It wasn't too oily or salty. The crab fried rice is made with real crab, but I wished there were more pieces of crab throughout the dish. The Hainan chicken dish came with sweet and sour sauce, and the rice was made with the broth from the chicken. I think if they served it with ginger-garlic sauce, chili sauce and soy sauce, it would be a hit. Im used to eating the fried bao buns with condensed milk for a sweet treat, but it was different to eat this as a savory dish with sweet and sour sauce. The buns were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The potstickers are exactly what you would expect them to be. It's crunchy with meat filling and served with sweet n sour sauce. We tried the marble and taro coffee drinks, but my favorite was the marble. If you like your coffee on the sweeter side with a kick to keep you awake, I would recommend these drinks! Parking is easy to find and service was great. Clean restaurant with soothing decor especially the picture of the water/rock formations on the wall. read more

Found a great Vietnamese place in Santee! They have all the Vietnamese staples like pho, spring rolls, vermicelli bowls plus northern Vietnamese items that I don't usually see anywhere else. Everything seemed really fresh and was delicious. I loved the freshness of the mango salad. The beef on the Sizzling Beef plate was really tender. And if you have room for something sweet, try the baked bao buns with red bean filling, loved the crispy texture. Next time I'm in the area, would come in to try their beef rib pho! read more

I got Hanoi style pho, taro coffee and and spring roll with that red meat in it (forgot what it's called). Love the flavor of Hanoi style pho. It's simple broth that feels homemade. Can mever go wrong with any of the spring rolls. Those are always a must try. Peanut sauce is a bit sweet but still good. Taro coffee was a good balance of sweet and coffee. Good size also! First off, there's plenty of parking. Upon entering, there is a nice relaxing, elegant music playing, and the temperature inside the restaurant is just right, even in that East County Summer heat. You receive a warm welcome from a host and are seated very quickly. They have a very large menu, with many authentic recipes, as their chef ha out of Vietnam and brings their favorite dishes to life here in Santee. The portion of the BBQ Vermicelli was generous. The Bun Cha Ha Noi is honestly the best I've had in San Diego since having the real deal in Ha Noi years ago. My friend who is from Vietnam took me here claiming it was some of the best Pho in San Diego and she was not wrong! The menu has a great variety and I really enjoyed the Brisket Pho with Chinese Donuts. Decor was cute and clean inside and has a parking lot outside with plenty of parking.
