I had a nice meal at Pho Kitchen, trying several of their appetizers and of course their pho. Specifically we had: 1. avocado rolls, 3/5: everything is soft inside so this is just too mushy. the shrimp version of this has some chew and texture, but soft avocado means it's just a mouth of mush. Taste is good (I love avocados) but they need to add something with crunch. 2. Pork and shrimp eggrolls, 4/5: I love these so much. Not 5/5 because they served it with sweet chili sauce instead of nước chấm and didn't include lettuce and herbs to wrap it 3. Fried chicken potstickers, 2/5; these were like deep fried Costco potstickers. They aren't BAD, just not very good. And they served the same gloppy sweet chili sauce as the the eggrolls had. 4. Beef combination pho, 4/5: My dish, which I ordered with vinegared onions. Good broth, slightly sweeter than what I'm used to but not in a sugary way, just barely noticeable which made it interesting. Good amount of herbs served with it, I think a bit more than typical. Onions were okay, no real vinegar flavor, but that's okay I like raw onions anyway. Soup was oddly not that hot so I don't think they cooked much. 5. Brisket Pho with extra brisket, 4/5: I ordered this for two people with smaller appetites to share and it was more than enough. I do wish they had an actual half-price kids size to avoid needing to split the dish, it wouldn't cost them anything extra but would be neater. The cost for all of this was a bit over $100 with tax and tip, which is par for the course (unfortunately). If I was in the area though this is a legit spot for Vietnamese food, appetizers had some misses but the pho itself is good. They take credit cards and there is ample parking in the large strip mall they are a part of. My dad had the beef pho, while my mom and I shared the BBQ pork rice plate with a sunny-side-up egg, BBQ pork ribs, and the popcorn chicken rice plate. Everything was excellent! We could also tell the pho is a favorite here--everyone around us seemed to be enjoying it. The service was attentive, and everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. Both of the pho orders came hot with good amount of protein which we liked, they could be a little more generous with the condiments. One thing I noticed with my sensitive taste buds was the slight sour note in the broth instead of slightly sweet taste in most of the other pho eateries. Service/Ambiance 4 stars: It has a casual strip mall restaurant nice ambiance, and it was very clean (they use Lysol disinfectant to wipe the tables). We were seated quickly, and the service was immediate and friendly. We ordered our food from a tablet, but they also provided a physical menu, which was appreciated, and our order was delivered promptly. Food 3 stars: was good, but not great. There are ~100 food items and ~50+ beverages on the menu, which are WAY too items many to prepare all of them well. - Taiwanese Basil Popcorn Chicken was very well seasoned and the crispy fried basil was a nice touch, but the breading was so "crispy" it cut the roof of my mouth and the chicken itself was very chewy. - Bbq Pork Vermicelli Salad had lots of fresh veggies, and the bbq pork was very tasty, but the vermicelli noodles themselves were pretty thick and served really warm. Bbq Chicken and Shrimp Vermicelli Salad had the same fresh veggies and warm noodles, the bbq chicken was tasty, but there were only 2 shrimp (mentioned in another review, and there are other photos of this dish with 2 shrimp).
