Tofu banh mi- If ordering vegan... go through ingredients with them.
    Mirna E.

Updating my previous review. I had seen someone post that they had a vegan banh mi sandwich. I decided to grab a banh mi sandwich on my lunch break. Ordered two- one for now and one for later. I called before leaving and asked if they could make a vegan banh mi and was told yes, that it wasn't a problem. I specifically asked if there was anything in the sandwich that would make it not vegan- the employee said no that if I asked for vegan than it would be made vegan. So no pate and no mayo? Employee confirmed they don't use mayo and omit the pate for vegan. Great! So I ordered two, went to pick up and paid. After getting back to work and starting to eat my sandwich, I notice that there is a creamy taste. I called the restaurant and explained that they must have put mayo in my sandwich. The employee said there is no mayo in their banh mi, so I asked what the white cream was and he said it was butter. I said I couldn't have butter and butter wasn't vegan. He then said it was vegan butter and I asked three times to be sure if I was understanding him correctly. He then said he would go check the ingredients. He read them off to me on the phone and once I heard MILK, it was game over. I told him I can't have milk and milk Isn't vegan. Then a long awkward pause and he said, "it's not?" And I sad, no, it's vegetarian but definitely not vegan. He apologized and said he didn't know. *sigh* He offered to remake them without butter so then I had to drive back and waste more time and gas. So... I drove back. The sandwiches were remade but, I'm glad I do not actually have an allergy. As I was leaving, he told me that next time I ordered to tell them no milk. That bothered me a little bit because unfortunately this establishment does not know the difference between vegan and vegetarian. To be honest, I don't know if I will return. Now I'm questioning if what I ordered the last time I was here was vegan at all. :( If you're vegan and ordering here, I don't know that I'd trust they don't use any animal products in their ingredients. I feel like you would have to ask for a list of ingredients to be sure you're not surprised with anything.

Had to come back here! I tried something new and it is my favorite now!! Vermicelli Bowls are so GOOD!!! I tried the 3 toppings: Beef, Chicken, and Egg Roll Noodles were al dente Fish sauce was on point Tender pieces of beef Succulent chicken slices Fragrant basil Crunchy peanuts Friendly service with a smile Clean, organized, speedy dining room. Laidback vibe. Wow! So glad that I came back. You must stop in and give it a go.

For incredible bò broth in North County, look no further than Pho House! I was craving Bún bò Huế during a long commute down I-5, and Pho House Oceanside was my best lead between OC and SD. In fact, traveling to Pho House Oceanside may have been my first time driving down SR 76, so once I got used to the Mission off-ramp I was glad to find the small 'Mission Camino' sign clearly marked with "Pho House." I was absolutely pleased with my comforting bowl of soup. The broth was spice-forward, so my meal was flavorful and aromatic without overwhelming saltiness. Lots of fresh veggies both topped my bowl, with lots of extra veggies on the side. A squeeze of lime gave my soul the perfect brightness. For some reason I thought it would come with both a beef shank and a pork hock, so I didn't specify my preference; the default was a hearty and tender leg of beef. The meats had an extra peppery spice to them, which I personally really enjoyed, but still found myself bracing for bold bites of peppercorn. They have a spacious private lot shared with other retail shops, and I was mainly competing with folks parking for the fresh fish market nearby. Pho House's dining room is clean with lots of small group seating, and I imagine they could combine some tables for larger parties, perhaps not suitable for a large event. Kudos to Pho House for my favorite Vietnamese beef broth in North County!

THIS IS HOW MY FOOD LOOKED 3 1/2 WEEKS AGO !! THIS WAS ACTUALLY STEAK!!! IDK WHAT THEY PUT IN MY BOWL OF PHO TODAY BUT IT WAS NOT THIS!!!

I'm genuinely disappointed and leaving a review because I can't believe that this was my experience at Pho House. It's really a good atmosphere here, and my husband and I come here pretty often that they know our usual orders, so I'm very disappointed to say I probably won't be returning. I usually order the rare steak add shrimp pho with no cilantro and no white onions green onions only (it's my preference). I ordered that today, and I couldn't even finish it. The bowl came with a lot of onions and cilantro, so that upset me a lil just because the server "memorized" it but the pho still came with it in there and when we were previously here about 3 1/2 weeks ago they did the same thing. The steak .. omg.. I'm pretty sure that wasn't steak. It tasted like chicken, and it usually doesn't look the way it did. I got a Sprite because of how sick I was feeling, and it was so flat, like how can a can drink be flat ? It was no fizz .. I'm just really disappointed and I only leave good reviews, but pho house I'm disappointed and needed something nice and hot on my stomach, and I'll have to think about if I'm coming back.

Great place to come if you're feeling cold and want something warm to eat. My sister ordered the kids bowl of beef pho. Along with some eggrolls and I got the beef sandwich. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. The service was quick and we waited for our food for about 10 minutes. There is not one time that I come into this restaurant where I'm disappointed with the food. Everything tastes great. Till next time

Wow. This is truly amazing Pho, dare I say one of the best I have ever tried? Service is friendly and prompt. Broth was piping hot and flavorful. The meat was delicious, tendon was soft and decadent. Upscale decor for the ambience yet the prices are reasonable. $16.50 for a large house special pho... Plus the have a phenomenal house made chile oil that is unlike anything I have ever encountered. New favorite Pho in Oceanside? Undoubtedly!

My family and I go here almost weekly! There's not many good Viet options in North Country, so this place takes my top spot! Service is fast, never had to wait. We usually get the Oxtail Pho, Nem Nuong, and Bun Bo Hue. The BBH used to have the pork shank but they've replaced it with a beef bone, which I prefer honestly.

A roach fragment in my Pho chicken Soup

I ordered chicken pho hoping to soothe a sore throat, and unfortunately found what appears to be an insect fragment in my soup. This wasn't a spice or herb--it was clearly a foreign object. I stopped eating immediately. While I understand mistakes can happen, finding something like this in a hot soup raises serious concerns about food handling and cleanliness. Very disappointing experience, especially given the reason I ordered the dish in the first place. I hope the restaurant takes this seriously and improves their kitchen quality control.

What a great pho spot! So glad I found it because the broth is so flavorful that you don't need to add any condiments to it! Prices and service are great (cheapest pho prices in SD! Definitely will be back. Tried their hot stone pot pho and it was so much meat and perfect for any protein lover!

    Any gluten free options?

Yes a couple are gluten free. The pho is gluten free and don't add any soy sauce or hoisin (clearly), I just use sriracha and lime. The grilled shrimp and rice dish is gluten free but nothing else. The pho is really good and worth trying!

And when that happens, it's usually a piping bowl of ramen or pho that will answer my body's asks, so I checked out this place! This restaurant is in a strip mall a few blocks from the pier (ok maybe more like a 15 min walk) literally next door to Sunshine Kitchen. Sunshine Kitchen had a lot of diners inside and out, and I felt a little FOMO while I stuck to my decision to eat at Pho Bowl & Grill. They have two tables for outdoor seating and since no one was sitting outside and the temp was nice enough, I asked to sit outside. No problem for the guy taking care of me. He was the waiter, the guy answering the phone, the guy making sure take outs/deliveries were happening and cashier, and he got it all done! What a magician. He was pleasant enough as Asian service is about getting down to business so he took my meatball pho and diet Coke order and got to work on it. Meatball pho was delicious and piping hot and the side veggies were all fresh and abundant. Meal was very casual, I ate and slurped in peace and then went inside to pay. Great, low key spot that makes good pho. Id definitely return.

Luckily, we got there around 630ish (PM), because not too long after, there was someone coming in every 2 to 3 minutes until it was packed-this place is popular! Anyway, when we came in, we were told to just pick a seat anywhere we wanted. There are plenty of tables put together (family style) and once seated we were able to order right away. Like I said, after we came in, it started getting a little busy so the wait for our food was a little longer than I had expected (but not too bad, maybe about 10 minutes). However, we did order some spring rolls for appetizers and those came out right away..... later, when the broth came out it was nice and hot! Everything was delicious, the beef brisket and flank steak were flavorful on their own within the broth and nice and tender. Of course, the broth, like I said earlier was very flavorful and that's definitely what you want to expect eating pho. All of the wait staff were great, cheerful and happy/attentive. We'll definitely be back, as this is definitely our go to for Oceanside pho in this area.

A quick search on Yelp gave me a few decent options but Pho Oceanside won because they were opened later than the other businesses. Our party of 3 arrived at 7:45pm on a Friday night to a pretty quiet restaurant. There were only 2 other parties dining- one being a table of about 8-9 guests. The staff let us know we could pick our own seats and provided us with menus. The offerings here are very typically of what you would expect to find at a Vietnamese restaurant. Kudos for the vegetarian options for those non-carnivorous eaters. Dinner consisted of: *P14. RARE STEAK, FLANK, TENDON & TRIPE PHO (TÁI, NAM, GÂN, SÁCH) *L6. SEAFOOD (MÌ XÀO HẢI SẢN) Calamari, shrimp & fish ball *VIETNAMESE SANDWICH- GRILLED PORK [Cucumber, pickled carrot & daikon, onions, cilantro] So this is where the visit took a dive. The one male staff member cane by with a plate of veggies for the pho. What was provided had to be the worst portion and quality I had ever received. There was only one... YES, ONE!! sprig of basil and the basil was limp, crusty, and honestly just SAD!!! I was honestly ready to throw in the towel and mentally prepare myself for a poopy meal ahead. Thankfully, my guy spoke up and made a request with the gentleman in charge- he came out with an abundance of fresh thai basil. Food was surprisingly pretty good. My daughter enjoyed her seafood chow mein. The pho was alright but the broth could have been a bit more flavorful. The banh mi was my favorite of the night and i totally didn't see that coming. The sandwich wasn't aesthetically pretty on the eyes but the pork marinade was delicious. The cuts of meat were tender and the bread was soft yet crunch in all the right places. 4 stars overall. My only bit of advice is providing patrons with fresh, crisp herbs if you are going to skimp it down to 1 sprig per person.

The downfall is this place runs warm, not enough air flow for me. This evening was there after having early hot weather this March. The food was unfortunately just ok along with the Thai Iced Tea w/boba. The tea didn't seem strong enough and the boba were clumpy. My dish didn't look like the pic on the menu that I was hoping to get. Instead of the marinated looking meat, I got more of a saucy or soupy chicken dish. It was good but not what I was craving for. I do always like to get the fried buns. You can order it with pork slices, but I requested no meat. It comes with a fish dip sauce which is good together, but good without too. The Chicken Fried rice was ok. It was bland, almost no salt or real flavor. I added hot sauce and salt. It must have been an off night or maybe us coming in an hour and a half before they closed. The food is usually good. The service is a hit and miss. Tonight the service was good and friendly and just ok since we had two people catering to our table. I would return. Like I mentioned the food is usually delish, drinks too. Now that it's summer I think I would choose to sit away from the windows where the sun beams through.
