Pho has a bit too much herb or they've cooked the herbs too long. But the flavor profile is spot on. Portion on the large is great. Having grown up on pho I can demolish a large bowl home made self portioned bowl and ask for more. The large Dac Biet had me satisfied. The eggrolls are spot on. I honestly couldn't remember tasting eggrolls that tasted so Vietnamese in a long while. The noucmam is nice too. Not the best I think I make it better but their sauce is paired well with the eggroll which matters more. The thit nuong (BBQ pork) was salty and definitely missing the mark, not sure what they are missing but something isn't completely right. My guess is they added rice to their place as a menu filler like most pho houses. It's eatable (yes, eatable) but nothing to rave about. I was initially extremely worried ordering here because the menu was so geared towards the colorless and had no hint of being authentic Vietnamese. But having tasted their food I'm glad I don't have to drive to Santa Ana for a Vietnamese fix. Fuck this place!!! Wish I could give it ZERO STARS. Waited an hour for two dishes and then I got my beef dish, opened it at home and NO BEEF. Was trying to get a dish home to my sick boyfriend. Did they offer me a refund while I was there waiting for an hour? Yeah because they felt bad. Did they say they would get my next order. Yes, BUT nobody cared until I had to say something after AN HOUR. I never Yelp but I am so pissed. Especially now that I got home and my order was wrong after all of that. Never again! I stopped by here because of location and Yelp rating. I was disappointed to see so many people sitting so close to one another during a pandemic. I was happy I ordered a to-go order. Husband's a die-hard fan who claims he can eat pho 3 times a day if he could. We've tried pretty much all the pho places in Oceanside and this one is by far our favorite. The people there are great and friendly, and whenever we go back after not being there for a while, one of the guys there always talks about how big our son's getting and asks my husband how work is, etc. If we're going to be regulars and be loyal customers to one pho joint out of a few, I like a place where we can talk and converse with the owners. We always get the egg rolls or spring rolls in addition to our combination pho. Broth is not too salty and has the right amount of flavors. First and foremost , no one was here during the time that came into the restaurant and eat . 3 of us ordered food . The waitress took our order , did not write anything down . I felt this to be strange to begin with . After several minutes everyone got their food and mine has not come out . I just had a late lunch here for the second time. It was an odd time to eat so we were the only customers. They had the World Cup on and I would have preferred no TV and just music, but oh, well. It's a friendly, family restaurant with a light, bright atmosphere and great service. The fresh spring rolls were delicious. We both had the chicken breast pho with added vegetables. The chicken was plentiful but a little dry. The veggies were fresh and I like that they gave us a decent portion of broccoli. I used to be a big fan of Pho House, but they've started slipping in a few areas. First off, I had to ask the staff three times (politely, I'm not a Karen) to please clean a table for us outdoors. Then I had to request they also clean the chairs which were covered in food. We're a year into the pandemic, and keeping their space spotless should be clockwork by now; it's not. In the past, I've enjoyed their Lemongrass Chicken and Pho, but the Banh Mi sandwiches are a big miss. The pork used in the Banh Mi is not traditional, and I didn't care for it. I think they used pork from the Pho and grilled it in some basic type of sauce, and it missed the mark. I could make a better Banh Mi pork at home (and I'm a terrible cook). Lastly, the Banh Mi meat was already cold when we received the sandwiches, which was a little gross. I guarantee they'd been sitting for a while instead of being handed to me freshly cooked. I'd like to see them rework the Banh Mi entirely and I'd suggest retraining the staff. read more

The hubby and I were STARVING and were so happy we discovered another fabulous local eat! We ordered a combination pho, egg rolls, broken rice combo, and bun bo hue. The star was the bun bo hue. I am telling you I love BBH more than pho lol and they seriously did a fantastic job! Probably the best BBH I have tried in North County SD! Rich, spicy, and flavorful broth and I could smell the light scent of shrimp paste (some people actually skimp on it!) which let me know this was AUTHENTIC. They were not at all stingy with the goods! Lots of chewy noodles, MEAT, and even with the pork hock that a lot of places skimp on!! It was a tad sweeter than what I am use to but that is personal preference. Pho was packed with meat but I would have liked a richer broth. Their broken rice combo plate was loaded and nuc nuom was great. The pork chop was ok I would have preferred more charcoal grill taste. Quality of food is of course always important but equally important to me is quantity! I hate those pretentious restaurants that give you a spoon of something and charge you an arm and leg and you are not satisfied so after you eat you got to run to the nearest micky d's. The Pho - I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to my apartment, but unfortunately I can't say that I do. The pho is about a dollar cheaper than most pho restaurants, but the bowls were the smallest that I've ever been offered at a pho restaurant. The regular was very small and the large would've been considered a regular at other places. Although the pho came out at a timely manner, the broth was not that special or memorable. The (burnt) Chicken Wings - We ordered fried chicken wings as an "appetizer". We received our pho bowls first and by the time we were done eating with our pho and ready to leave, the chicken wings had yet to come out. At that point, we just assumed that they forgot - okay that's fine, we just won't pay for it. We sat there with our bowls and utensils stacked to indicate that we were done for about 10 minutes, but no bill came to us. The chicken wings finally came out, BUT they looked like they were burnt, forgotten in the fryer for way too long, then thrown on a plate of greens randomly for plating.
