My friend ordered the noodle soup special (medium bowl) for $12.25. The soup was loaded with noodles, rightfully so, but lacked the meat quantity. Soup SHOULD have had more meat. I ordered the house specialty entree: sizzling mongolian chicken ($17.50). Plenty of sizzling and taste delicious. But there was very little chicken on the the plate. It was served on a small plate, sadly. There were more onions than chicken portions on the plate. Only about 7 tiny strips of chicken. This dish SHOULD have a larger portion of chicken. I'm pumped Pho Dakao opened a metrowest location that meets (or even exceeds?) the Worcester location for food and decor. I've been three times since it opened and the service has been prompt, the drinks and food excellent, and the restaurant clean and organized. I go to Dakao in worcester all the time and absolutely love their pho and love the atmosphere... so, i assumed framingham would be the same right? Wrong!! First of all the staff they have are very unpleasant and slow.. it was just me and my Husband there and it took them about and hour to get us our food.. then i ordered a thai iced tea with Boba i had to remind the waitress to which she rolled her eyes.. then when i would ask for napkins she would give a little attitude. If i wasn't starving i would have left.. Dakao owners better do something about their framingham staff and their attitudes bad for business.. thank god my pho was not bad. I am all about supporting local businesses, and even more about supporting businesses that hire people who have learned English as their second language. I will though, preface this review that part of the outcome did have to do with a language barrier. I'm Asian and I love Asian food. I usually don't mind if my order comes out wrong or it's not exactly what I ordered. I know it can be overwhelming having to take orders with specifications - I was a waitress once. I usually don't complain unless I absolutely have to. My cousins and I decided to chance it with this restaurant even though we normally frequent Vietnamese restaurants in Dorchester or Chinatown. I ordered the grilled pork rice dish and I wanted the rice base to be modified. Every Vietnamese restaurant I have frequented will do this willingly, but will also warn that you will have to pay more and I am more than fine with paying more to have my dish prepared the way I wanted. When our waitress said "oh we don't do that", she said it with such attitude. I overlooked this, knowing they always say this because they think we'll make a big deal about having to pay a few more dollars. I said it's fine, I'm willing to pay more to have it modified since most places charge you $3-$4 to have this done. First offense, being rude and condescending when she said "oh we don't do that". Most people are very nice about it and just explain what they mean. She did not. Second offense, asked for water with lemon, she gave us water with lime. Third offense, everyone else ordered pho and there were no sauce dishes at the table. I asked for some sauce dishes and she came back with soup bowls.... We finally got our food and she named one of the dishes she was holding to see whose it was, my cousin promptly responded it was hers. She was sitting at the other end of the table. Instead of walking over to her, our waitress put the dish in front of the person closest to her. Great, we pay you to not give us our food properly? We finished our meal around 9:05 - 9:10 and we didn't realize the restaurant closed at 9. We felt awful we made her stay late until she never came back. She checked in once with us at the beginning when we received our food but that was it. We had to flag down the other waitress on duty just to get our check. When we finally get our check, I realized she charged me for 2 meals. Once for the grilled pork I ordered and then again for the rice I asked to be substituted. If she had explained at the beginning she was going to charge me for 2 full meals, I might have reconsidered my modifications. I wouldn't be so mad if she had been nice about it and tried to explain the situation. She gave so much attitude and repeatedly said "I told you". Actually, no she didn't. She never clearly explained herself. The reason for our poor service was due to a language barrier, which I am able to overlook. What really upsets me is her attitude. Yeah, it sucks to have to pay for 2 meals but I would have done it willingly if she hadn't been so rude. People go out to dinner to have a good time. Her rude and condescending attitude ruined our experience with this establishment. I will never be returning here and I will never recommend this place to anyone else. Why be a waitress if you aren't going to make the experience enjoyable? The manager should really consider training the employees. You will not be receiving my business ever again. read more

This is the best and most affordable Pho in miles. Lots of traditional Vietnamese cuisine and many sauces on he table to spice to your liking. Friday nights have live Jazz with a large selection of local artists. If you prefer a quieter experience, ask for a table in the back. They even have boba tea (which used to be quite the rage) and if you want a varied selection of flavors, you've got it. Beware, the Vietnamese style coffee is sickeningly sweet! I, too, have been waiting YEARS for a Vietnamese restaurant to open in or near Framingham! Glad this one's arrived, and hope that the "less than positives" are things they still work on... First, the food: fantastic! We've already been here several times since opening last month, have had mi xiao, bun, pho, spring rolls, summer rolls, etc and all were delicious. My salty Plum Soda (a specialty drink made with preserved plums) was yummy (but my husband and 8 year old VEHEMENTLY disagreed & thought it was disgusting! LOL) Also, the people who work here are VERY nice...my 8-year old interviewed the owner with all kinds of personal questions, which he cheerfully answered during a lunch 2 weeks ago. Also, the INSIDE decor is very nice (some who may remember is as Limeys will be shocked at how nice!) The downs: the service is slowwww, I mean REALLY slow. It took almost an hour to get dinner one night, and 45 minutes between ordering lunch & it arriving. Wasn't busy either time. Hope this improves. The outside decor: I HOPE this is still progressing, for the sake of their business...the plastic/cloth sign over the front window was torn & dangling a few weeks ago, and the outside looks less than inviting. Some paint or a permanent sign would be HUGE improvements. It's great to make the inside look polished, but this won't matter if you can't make folks WANT to come in. Last thing: they charge for soda refills...this may not seem like a big deal, but when we were there for lunch, we were all recovering from colds so were VERY thirsty, 3 of us had 3 soft drinks (Coke/Diet Coke) each and that portion of our bill was $18...FOR JUST THE SOFT DRINKS. Very unexpected & not cool: I don't know any nearby restaurant who charges for soft drink refills from a machine ( I could understand if a bottle of soda was brought over each time, but fountain soda is pennies on the dollar). This just irked me, I brought it to the waiter's attention and he said the owner tells them to do that. I hope the owner reconsiders this practice...it seems super-cheapo and I'm miffed enough about it that it soured an otherwise very pleasant (although unexpectedly EXPENSIVE!) lunch... I think this place has another location in Worcester, but I am not sure. Came here on a Friday night around 8 pm and it was pretty packed. The waiting time to be seated wasn't long, but the waiting time for our food was long. We ordered the spring rolls, fried rice and 2 pho (a medium and XL). Spring rolls usually takes no more then 5 mins to make but for some reason, it didn't come out until nearly 20 mins later on. The spring roll was ok, they were cheap made, meaning there was one very thin slice of pork meat per roll. The Vietnamese fried rice was really soggy and lacked in flavor. The pho were cheap made too. The XL bowl had the same amount of noodles as the medium bowl. There was a few pieces of meat. The broth doesn't have much flavor. It was missing the herbs and spices. I think they should of let the broth cooked for a few more hours. Overall, who ever said this place was an authentic Vietnamese, should drive up to Boston and give their restaurants a try. read more

So so bad. Got the vermicelli with pork and shrimp. Something tasted fishy. I know, it comes with fish sauce. But this fishiness did not taste anything like the normal fish sauce that normally comes with it. The shrimp was burnt on the outside, despite being undercooked on the inside. I was also left famished after eating this $10.75 bowl of vermicelli (little overpriced compared to other pho places I've been to). Why? They only put two small pieces of pork in the bowl, and two shrimps. Barely ANY meat. The rest of the bowl was just vermicelli and some veggies, but I really think the portion was kind of small, which I wouldn't have minded had it tasted good. read more
