We got delivery with uber eats. This review is just the delivered food experience. House Special Pho Uber says this is $13.95, but when you add to cart, you have to choose a size, and you only have the option to choose "large" for an extra $2. So this is a $16 dish. Don't like the price hiding game folks... Also, the dish was missing tripes. My favorite.. I believe the extra $2 I paid was probably just for the noodles, as it came with a huge amount of noodles, but not really a large portion of meats. I could have also used a little more sprouts. Soup flavor was good, though, as I remember it at the restaurant. Calamari Stone Not sure why it's called "stone". But it's fried calamari. It's got an interesting redish color. It was cold upon delivery. Not warm, not lukewarm, but cold. Like it came out of the fridge. Meanwhile the pho soup came piping hot, so I know they just put this on a container from the fridge without reheating or cooking fresh. I don't necessarily mind cold food, but this one wasn't good cold. The squid was chewy and the batter was separated. Sad. I didn't think you could really go wrong with this dish. Papaya salad with shrimp Meh. Another disappointment. It came with sauce on the side, but the salad was already tossed in sauce. This dish was also underwhelming, mostly because it was probably pre-made and sitting there for a lot longer than the 30 minutes it took for delivery. The papaya and carrots were wilty from having been sitting on the vinegar based sauce. Only saving grace were the huge shrimp pieces that were cooked just right. I would go to the physical location, but I'm very underwhelmed by the delivery option. Will not do it again.

Loving the crisp weather because a bowl of Pho Cali's pho tastes even better than it usually does! This probably my 50th visit. Always greeted warmly, feels like home. And the pho is fragrant with spices and meat - noodles fresh and springy, the basil and bean sprouts fresh and crunchy. Please support this amazing "mom and pop" business.

Pho Cali has been my go to spot for takeout whenever I crave Vietnamese food! Their banh mi (I've had the pork and beef banh mi's) are super delicious and flavorful and their pho is so good! They give you a ton of noodles and meat, and the broth is pretty flavorful. So far it's the best pho I've had in Milwaukee! I'll definitely have to try their other items in the menu (especially the bún riêu)!

Not as good as it used to be. The pho base is still delicious but the meat is not. Especially the rubbery meat balls. The restaurant seems dirty and it needs a lot of repairs. Only a few people that work there speak English and they don't always get the orders correct. My kids got the sweet and sour chicken (which is completely different that the chinese kind) and the chicken was sopped in sauce but completely dry. The service is very slow and it took forever for someone to come over and then to get the bill. We had to track them down for the bill.

The customer service here was impeccable. I came on a slow Wednesday around 3:00PM. I got the tofu spring rolls and asked if they had a tofu/veggie pho since it wasn't listed on the menu. They did. It came with bok choy, celery, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, lettuce, mushrooms, and onions. I do believe the broth is beef broth though (sorry vegetarians). Everything tasted amazing and they packed all my stuff up to go and gave me extra to boot. Will come back again and again.

Contender for best Vietnamese in Milwaukee. I had lunch here today and had a really great meal. I showed up later in the lunch hour on Sunday and the restaurant was busy. I got a seat without any trouble though. Service was bare-bones but that was expected. You're here for food. I was impressed by the large menu and reasonable prices. The spring roll order came with 3 rolls and the "medium" house special pho was huge and packed with noodles and different cuts and textures of beef. I took a spring roll with me I was so full. And I was also impressed by the full chili tray with all the condiments. There was hoisin and lime juice and Sriracha and a couple other types of chili sauce. I made a point to not go overboard on the condiments but add enough to enjoy all the flavors. The pho has a lot going on by itself. I saw bun bo hue and crab noodles on the menu, as well as the crispy pancake and vermicelli and rice dishes. It's worth getting out here.

Pho Cali Special was delicious and perfectly spicy!

With their rotating menu items and weekly specials, I am definitely coming back after having such a flavorful and fun meal. Waited about an hour on a busy Saturday since one of their locations was closed, but the food was well worth it! I had gotten Wolfie's Patty Melt and it was filling and a great start to our morning. The bread was nice and crisp from the buttered griddle and held everything together perfectly. Inside the crunchy sandwich were 2 seasoned patties and enough gooey cheese to make it rich, but not heavy. To contrast the fatty flavor, there was a slightly tart bacon jam and onions that were truly caramelized. Overall really tasty sandwich with no notes! In the description it says there is a sauce, but I could only taste the onions and jam, so I'm not too sure what it added. The side of fries was ok, but I think some crispy thinner ones would have been better with the sandwich. For my drink, I got a hot Ube Chai. The chai was strong and had a spicy kick to each sip. Already a subtle flavor, the ube was not very strong with the chai mixed in, but still added fun color. The design on top was also very cute and added another dink of sweetness. My girlfriend got the Spamelette for her main and it was pretty pretty and delish. Not too often that you see Spam, but when you see it, trust it earned its spot on a menu! The big chunks of Spam and accouterments gave each bite a pleasant feel and one full of flavor. I was skeptic of the mushrooms at first, but they were seasoned well and added another kind of texture to the meal. I think my favorite toppings were the drizzle of kewpie and the green onions... not sure if it counts as a topping, but the tamari glaze of the spam made it delish. Taste aside, it was also a pretty meal! Pook got a Hot Chocolate for her drink. Nice simple drink for the cold weather. We would have liked to see some more chocolatey flavor, but still a good milky drink for the meal. This drink also had a fun design and nice cream top, yum yum yum. This was such a tasty meal and they have lots of other options that I was debating on getting - I guess we gotta come back! It was a really cold day, but the cozy atmosphere and hot drinks with our food made it a great experience. We had originally planned on going to the Downtown location, but it was closed because of heating problems. I wish there was a bit more uniformity between their menus, especially since the Brewers Hill menu has different items and is smaller, so it feels like there is quite the difference between locations. Going off of that point, I am excited to try their dinner menu when it releases and see how it compares to when we ate Downtown! I am not sure how the places differ, but I felt the food here to be more flavorful than the other location. In addition to the dining area, they had a small shop and coffee area in the back while you waited for your table. It was fun and made time pass faster, but I feel as though that area is also perfect for dining. Maybe there are specific reasons why it isn't, but just a thought. Hope to come back soon!

This was perfect for us because it was much quieter in that room so we were able to have a conversation while enjoying our breakfasts! The design of the restaurant is so beautiful, with pink accent walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and painted flowers. It was the perfect backdrop to take photos of our food! Our waitress, Sophie, was so great! She was very kind and welcoming, she made sure we got our food quickly, and she even put a birthday candle in my pancakes! For my birthday breakfast, I indulged in some chocolate chip pancakes. It was definitely a chocolate overload, with chocolate chips inside and on top of the pancakes, and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup on top. It was a big portion of 3 pancakes, and while they were definitely delicious, they were so rich that I couldn't finish it all! My sister had the cinnamon icing French toast, which looked like a cross between a cinnamon roll and French toast. She finished it all and said it was amazing! My dad took the more savory route and ordered the meat lovers skillet. It came with over-easy eggs and breakfast potatoes, and it was another generous serving that was a good deal for the price. I loved the SweetDiner, and I would definitely come here more often if I lived closer!

I ended up calling in an order to go, substituting wheat bread for the rye, and also added a piece of lemon ginger coffee cake. The lemon ginger coffee cake tasted fine, but man was it dry. Like Sahara Desert dry. Maybe this was an anomaly and their other baked goods are better, but I'd be hesitant to try them based on this coffee cake. Even though the website says the side is potato pancakes with applesauce, my fish fry came with fries. They ended up being the best part of the meal, which I certainly wasn't expecting. Still, I was disappointed cause I prefer potato pancakes and was given their inclusion as an expectation. The wheat bread itself was ok, but the butter was oddly unsalted. The fish, of which there was three pieces, was battered with a hint of beer, but like the butter for the bread there was no salt to speak of in the batter. As much as I didn't enjoy the unsalted butter for the bread, not having salt in the batter for the fish managed to be more unpleasant. Maybe Blue's Egg should just stick with serving breakfast items instead of adding something temporary that they clearly aren't pros at.

I surprisingly don't have many options in my "MKE - Fish Fry" collection that are near downtown, but Swinging Door Exchange was one of them. I was pressed for time, so I placed a to go order rather than dining in. I got the combo fish fry (two pieces of cod, two pieces of perch, and three fried shrimp) with potato pancakes. I was also very easily talked into the half rack rib appetizer. The ribs were good, even though I prefer sauce that's more sweet and smokey. Their sauce was on the tangy side with a tease of spice that really only became noticeable when the majority of the half rack was gone. If I were in the mood for ribs as my main meal, I'd consider getting theirs as an entree. The two potato pancakes weren't homemade; instead, they were premade hash brown patties that some other restaurants also serve with their fish frys. These were perfectly acceptable in lieu of homemade pancakes. The cod tasted great, but the breading didn't hold up very well. Either the fish itself was too wet or the two block walk back to my car allowed for condensation to wreck it or possibly both. The perch was not yellow lake perch but probably something like pike perch. Even though both kinds of fish and the shrimp were all good sized portions, $29 feels like a lot. I wouldn't say no to it, though, if I were dining in next time and avoid the extra cost of their takeout fee. Shout-out to the bartenders working that night.
