My brother was in town and I wanted to take him to Vietnamese. This family owned business is small and the night we went, it was packed. The food will not disappoint! In addition to several types of pho, they have several other entrees featuring grilled meats and serve several kinds of "bun" - another tradition dish. This will be my last visit to this restaurant. The carry out menu listed the ingredients in the dishes, but neglected to list more than 1/2 the ingredients that were actually in the dishes leaving us in a situation where some of us were unable to eat dinner. The person taking my order was extremely difficult to understand and was rude when I attempted to clarify my order - the message obviously did not make it through or the ingredient (allergy) issue would not have been as big of a deal. The portions were pretty generous, but the prices are high. The lemongrass soup had zero lemongrass flavor, but the add-in box had a very nice variety of items. A very decent bowl of pho in York, PA. Ordered the eye round, rare steak and tendon. Nice portion. Didn't seem to be lacking in toppings. Broth was pretty good and flavorful. So I feel a little stupid but for about 10 years now, I've lived maybe 2 blocks away from Pho Bistro. And I've avoided going for 10 years because I thought the food would be to spicy and I wouldn't enjoy It..... boy was I wrong on both accounts. The food is amazing and has just the right amount of spice and if you need more they will be happy to add more for you! The family that owns and runs the story are awesome especially the young adults who work there when they aren't in college or whatever they are doing. They are sassy and funny and just awesome in general. The food like I said is amazing! Pho is not what I expected and I was pleasantly surprised! And I was introduced to lemongrass and yellow curry! Soooo good! The price is a little high. But the portion is also pretty large so it makes sense. I've never had a bad thing to eat there only good experiences! I definitely recommend it! And recommend being more out going and discovering new fun food places! read more

My all time favorite pho place. And i have been to a bunch. It is kinda small, but the food makes up for it. The spring rolls are amazing as well as the rice and shrimp. Everything seems so fresh and healthy. The owners kids are the servers and they are very nice and courteous. They are usually quite as well unless you strike up a conversation with them, in which case they are a delight to talk to. I have brought many of my friends to eat here and will bring many more. The food is cheap as well. I believe a bowl of pho is like 8$, and i can barely finish it its so big. A well deserved 5 stars for pho bistro read more

Walking into this place, one may wonder how good the food can be. It's very simple in it's approach - not much in the way of decor, and pretty basic tables & chairs for dining. It's a small place, and definitely family run. They do a pretty good job of it, and we absolutely love the food. We've had most everything on the menu, in some shape or form. Obviously, they offer Pho (traditional Vietnamese noodle soup with an endless variety of meat combinations). Additionally, they have several other noodle based dishes as well as rice based dishes. The ones with Lemongrass have been excellent, as well as those with Curry. The vegetarian dishes have also been very good. Have never had a bad meal here, and we try to get here quite often. Everything has been delicious & very fresh tasting. We've recommended this place to many people, primarily because the food is so good. The family is also very friendly, and generally so are the other diners. Because the tables are rather close to each other, it's hard not to strike up a conversation with another table. But everyone who is there is having such a good time, it really works out quite well. One last tip - feel free to bring a bottle of wine with you. My review is on the Bun Ba Hue (spicy noodle soup). I eat a lot of pho and bun ba hue, Pho Bistro's Bun Ba Hue contained the minimum ingredients to be called bun ba hue, more like lemongrass soup. Some things missing, pigs blood and hot chili peppers. The broth is a WATERY lemongrass soup instead of a beef broth. Smh. Portions were small especially for a large. Not poor service. THE BEST PHO IN YORK!!! This is the best and may be the only place in York to get Pho and real vietnamese food. The vietnamese coffee is amazing as well as their boba or...bubble tea. Checked out the Pho Bistro reviews on Yelp this afternoon and decided to give it a try. My husband, daughter and myself arrived for lunch just before 1:00 on Sunday and were seated right away. This was actually our first trip to a Vietnamese restaurant and we loved it!!! Some of the reviews note that Pho Bistro is not in the best part of town. I suppose that's an accurate statement, but I felt perfectly safe and thought the location was fine. Though the restaurant is not fancy by any means, it's clean and homey. On to the food.....we ordered fresh spring rolls, some shrimp and some vegetable. The shrimp ones were good but the vegetable ones were amazing, so packed with yummy flavors!! A delicious fresh peanut sauce was great for dipping. My daughter, afraid to be adventurous, ordered shrimp fried rice. I tasted it and found it to be very good, much fresher and tastier than fried rice from a Chinese retaurant. I know this is a Vietnamese restaurant, but my husband and I both ordered pad thai. It was awesome! Very, very tasty! I ordered mine mild, my husband ordered hot. He loves very spicy food and enjoyed the spice. I like moderately spicy food and even though I ordered mild, I would not have wanted any more spice. I loved it but if I hadn't ordered mild it would have been too spicy, so if you don't like much spice make sure you let them know. They seemed happy to make accomodations, my husband is not a seafood eater so he asked for them to hold the shrimp on the chicken and shrimp pad thai and they were happy to do so. The veggies in the pad thai were lightly stir fried, still leaving a little crunch just how I like them. There were lots of fresh herbs, too. Yum! The owner's daughter and son waited on us and did a good job. After we had finished our meal the owner came out and talked with us. He's very personable and happily chated with us about Vietnamese food. He seems very concerned with the freshness and quality of the food he serves. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Pho Bistro. Our son will be attending York College beginning next fall and we decided that we would make return visits to Pho Bistro every time we visit York!! read more

Food is very good but the serving pace is bad. The owner's kids serve and they have no interest in the customers. They miss all of the basics like, give everyone silverware and water. I am new to the PHO world and this restaurant is very close to where I live so I was very excited to try their pho and spring rolls. I have gotten them at two other places so now have an idea of what the flavor should be. I ordered carryout, the rare steak and brisket pho, two summer rolls (spring rolls) and the shrimp lo mein. Arrived and the owner (?) was yelling on the phone to someone and their credit machine wasn't working. Totally fine, I had cash. IT's more expensive than I think it should be and no receipt was given because the guy was still yelling on the phone. Take the food home, lo mein is decent but really just spaghetti noodles.. pho tasted okay but was lacking some of the herbs I like to get at other places, it was the Summer rolls that were the problem. The ingredients were wilted and the sauce was weird and soupy and not as flavorful as it should have been. Would have given 4 stars but ended the night with a stomach ache due to the food. Vietnamese is my favorite go-to cuisine these days and I try it everywhere. I either order Bun with pork and spring roll or I get Pho Ga (chicken soup). I opted for the former here tonight and was pretty disappointed. This is a really nice place. The people are great, the prices are good and the menu is large. This was not one of the better dishes I've had. I didn't like the pork or the spring roll. The pork isn't grilled, it was tough and just didn't really taste very good. The spring roll looked like they tried to cut it with a spoon. It was mashed a bit and wasn't really all that great anyway. I like it when they arrange it so you see the cucumber, cilantro, sprouts and lettuce on one side of the bowl and the noodles on the other with the meat on top. They buried the vegetables on the bottom and they suffered a little. They should come out as a crisp fresh relief to the noodles. I'm giving them three stars as a benefit of the doubt. Maybe the pho is great but I wouldn't order this dish if I were you. read more

Very good! A word to the wise, spicy means SPICY. I like really spicy foods and so does my best friend but she and I were in tears and it was too hot to eat. So keep that in mind. It's an intimate atmosphere and it's got a very casual family run business feel because it is LOL. The service is not anything to write about, the few times that I've gone we've waited quite a long time for drinks and people who came in after us got served appetizers well before we got ours BUT the food is worth the wait.
