My aunt and her kids were visiting from Chicago and they wanted pho. We tried to go to another pho place, but they were closed. My dad found Phuong Trang on Yelp so we decided to give it a go! There were only two other couples eating and the friendly waitress pointed out a table to us. My mom and dad had never had Vietnamese food before and were a little nervous, but our waitress was super nice and attentive. We started with some appetizers of vegetarian spring rolls and another non-vegetarian spring roll. They were enjoyed by all the and peanut sauce was delicious! Five of us got pho and my dad got some kind of stir fry, which he seemed to enjoy. I got the beef pho and it was delicious!!! My mom must have looked lost when the pho first came out because the owner ran over to our table and kindly showed us how we should put the toppings in and even brought over some little dishes and put hoisin and sriracha in them so we could dip our meat pieces. A very nice gesture by him! I haven't been to many Vietnamese places before and I wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, but the food was delicious and the service was great. I don't live in the area, but if I were up visiting my parents I would definitely order for takeout. Note - I does seem like you have to go up to the register to pay, they don't bring the bill to your table. That took us some time to figure out. read more

We had been regulars here from when they first opened. When a competitor opened across the street, we tried the Vietnam House and changed alliances as the food, price and overall experience was better. One server's horrible attitude was the driving force that sent us looking for an alternative, not the food. We went to Phuong Trang yesterday as Vietnam House is now closed on Mondays. We both had Pho (number 1 for me and Pho Tai for my wife). The broth was thin, hardly any flavor at all.... it tasted watered down. Very disappointing. The amount of meat in both bowls was not impressive. They overloaded the soup with noodles.The prices are higher as our bill (soup only, no beverages) was $2.52 higher than across the street. Save your money and leave far happier by dining at their competitor directly to the east. read more

This restaurant has THE BEST pho I have ever had. I have tried pho at many different restaurants and this place is hands down the best! I moved away about a year ago and cannot find anywhere that satisfies my craving after eating here. When I did live in the area, I would go at least once a week. I have been meaning to try this place based on the ratings. I'm on a vermicelli noodle salad kick again and think that nothing can top Jasmine Deli. I got the grilled chicken and it's a nice salad with plenty of veggies and mint, even though I like lots of mint so there could be more and some basil would make this better along with CILANTRO. The noodles were a bit stuck together and the chicken is dark meat and not trimmed enough, which was unfortunate but not to say I won't come back and try with mock duck next time. This place is packed which means only good things. The price is what you would expect for a dive and the portions generous. I love that there are plenty of condiments at the table bc I like to add hoisin and a little more pepper sauce. They even have a bottle of fish sauce handy! I'll try this place again, but I'll never order menu items with chicken so you've been warned. The service was quick but not overly pleasant. Eh. read more

Phuong Trang is located in Brooklyn Park off of Brooklyn blvd next to Madjacks. Phuong Trang has classic veitnamese style phó with suburban convenience and a inner city dingyness to it (which I digg). Priced at 7.25 for a bowl phoung trang offers plenty noodles and meat which leaves you very full. The only problem with this place is that the server always gets your order wrong and if you were to complain it would only complitcate things. Between the gay male server and good phó I give Phuong Trang a 8/10 for keeping it real, real fobbish. SOJ! read more

Food used to be decent but quality has gone down. Prices have gone up and portions are smaller. I found out that the dessert drinks can be old because the owner doesn't want to throw it out after a couple of days in the fridge. He would rather risk a customer not liking it than wasting the his money. The place is up and down on cleanliness. Staff - it depends on the day of their mood if friendly or not, mainly the owner. He is definitely not customer oriented and has the attitude of take it or leave it. I have been going there on and off for the past 3-4 yrs. Horrible! Never felt so disrespected and first time I became anger while getting a bowl of pho. I was there with my wife and 3 kids. Felt the ugly attitude from the waitress as soon as she came over. Asks if were ready to order. We just say down, really? I asked for one minute. She literally comes back in exactly one minute. Gives us water with no straws. I ask for straws, she walks away saying something in Vietnamese. I'm asian but not viet, but could sense she was saying something rude about us. Totally ruined my dinner. The whole time, kept thinking I she had spat in our food. Anyways as soon as I get up to pay, she comes over and starts cleaning our table already. I asked the lady at the counter for a box for my egg rolls that I didn't touched. As soon as I turned around, the waitress in a bad mood had already threw one of my egg roll in a dirty bowl. I packed the other one and she quickly ran off knowing that she threw away my untouched eggroll. To top it off she laughed aloud when she walked passed me. Decent food but really poor customer service. I saw a customer ask if they had a certain dish and the cook replied that they don't serve that at the moment because they were busy. He said it in the most negative way possible too. This isn't the first time I saw this. I am currently going to this restaurant about twice a month but will stop going there now after what I saw. I can't believe how bad they would treat another human being like this! I have a MBA and had a business before, and I just can't support anyone who does this. read more

If you want authentic Vietnamese food in the Brooklyn Park/Maple Grove area, this is the place eat. The restaurant doesn't look to appealing like the new one in the area but you can't beat the price and quality of their food. read more

This is definitely the best Pho restaurant in the northern suburbs, and one of the best in the Twin Cities. The soups are excellent, with no MSG and a home made stock with a fantastic depth of flavor, and no skimping on the authentic best bits - the excellent tendons, tripe and, if you order their Bun Bo Hue, even cubes of blood. The accompanying veggies and basil are fresh and plentiful. If you stick to the classic Vietnamese dishes you won't be disappointed. Their other dishes, such as fried rice and various chinese-influenced noodle dishes, are tasty and in ridiculously big portions, but are nothing particularly special. My husband has been eating here at least twice a month over seven years, and has never had a bad experience. The service is good, and they'll greet you with a free pot of tea when you arrive. And it's one of the few places you can get Cafe Sua Da made from scratch with the metal filter rather than pre-packaged. read more
