Solid spot for Pho if Pho 79 is too busy or you forgot to bring cash. Pho 86 isn't the best in town but it definitely is enjoyable and gets the job done. Nothing fancy here about their pho, but their service is really quick and the restaurant isn't too busy so you'll be seated and get a quick meal. Prices are pretty fair. When Pho 79 line is ridiculously long, this place is the go to spot across the street (Could also be busy). It is located in the stater bros plaza. Ordered the large Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) for $8.50. The broth was really tasty, the steak and beef were soft, and the noodles were also cooked perfectly (Some pho places will serve you pho with the noodles clumped into a big hard ball that will take a few minutes to soften out). The service was also good, as they fulfilled all our requests I docked one star because the quantity was much smaller than what I usually receive at other pho restaurants. For a large, I didnt get much beef (Filet mignon, flank, brisket, tripe). Overall, the quality of the pho is great! read more

I was starving and luckily this one was a few Pho places that were still open at that time. I ordered Pho with fatty flanks, raw brisket on the side, fresh noodles, and a bowl of beef blood soup with egg yolk. The foods were excellent. I felt like I was eating Pho in Vietnam! Just look at how gorgeous my bowl of Pho was. Plus, unlike other Pho places, the soup here was boiling hot - hot enough to cook my raw briskets, so it was a huuuge plus! The only minus point was that it wasn't as aromatic as my favorite Pho place, but this comment might be a bit subjective. $12 before tips for my order. I love this Pho restaurant near Brookhurst and Westminster blvds. I stopped here not long ago to pic up some lunch on my lunch break. I could call in for pic ups. Owners do not speak English real well. One of their daughters or nieces had to translate. I ordered a Pork steak and shrimp cake meal . I was a combo of shrimp and egg cake. Really really delicious. One of my go-to spots in Westminster when I'm craving Pho! Came here on a rainy and cold day, which is the perfect time for a steaming bowl of Pho. I ordered the regular size of Pho Tai (which is essentially lean beef) with the fresh rice noodles (banh tuoi, flat and wider rice noodles). You can load up on veggies and herbs which makes the bowl actually pretty healthy. Don't forget about a squeeze of lime/lemon and a decent amount of hoisin/sriracha. My mom always told me that the bowl should still be steaming after you finish the Pho. So, no judgment here on eating fast while it's hot! Located adjacent to the stater brothers, this place doesn't look too special from the outside --until you see they start serving at 5am. What makes this place special compared to other restaurants I've been to is the beautiful beef tendon you can order. They serve huge beef bones with the tendon and the fat ready to rip right off. This is a true delicacy. The tendon is so juicy, savory, and fatty you can taste the umami bursting from the gelatinous goodness. Not to mention after your meal you are left with huge bones you can feed to your dog after. People tell me the tendon is good for your joints, but hey, I'm here for the food. The health benefit is a side effect. They serve the pho with the usual trimmings, but order the oxtail-pho while you are here. Also get a thai tea. Its not too sweet but very creamy. I would advise you to communicate clearly with the server. My family and I don't speak Vietnamese but we were able to fare ok. read more

We came on a Saturday night craving for some pho since other places are closed late at night. The service here is pretty friendly and quick. We got seated immediately. However, we were disappointed in the taste of the pho. It tasted really bland and at moments I could taste hints of sweetness. I wished it had more of a star anise and beef broth flavored to it instead of being bland. Also, the meat was tough and hard to eat. The good thing was that they did not skimp out on the meat in the pho. Prices are pretty decent for a bowl of pho being around $11 for a small size. This place has been here forever I kinda forgot about this place until my dad, I, and one other person decided to have lunch here. We came in on a busy Saturday around 11:30am and there was no wait. I went with their small pho bo vein. When my bowl came out I noticed it was much smaller than other small size bowls at other pho restaurant. My bo vein was also much softer than other places. I enjoyed it but one of the people I came with did not. You also get the option of having fresh noodles instead of regular for an additional $1. It's also an additional $1 for each size up. It's also additional charge for whatever you want to add in your bowl. Besides the mediocre food, I actually like the service here compared to other places. They are really nice and any requests came fast. They are also very honest people. What I do not like is that it is pretty packed inside and it can get very crammed. Stopped by to order a large chicken pho to go. Inconsistent on pricing. The cashier said $15. The older lady (probably the owner) said $14 so the cashier ended up charge $14.50. When they gave me my order, I looked at the broth in the small container, it was about half full not enough for a large bowl of pho. I asked the cashier to give me more broth she hesitated and said next time I have to pay more for the broth. That is ridiculous they didn't give me enough broth in the first place. I just walked out and said there is no next time around here. On top of all this I find out when got home the portion is very small. The chicken is mostly bone, no meat. Terrible customer service. I first inquired about my Pho; they asked me what kind of noodles was in soup--wide or thin; I thought what's the difference and I wasn't asked for choice--it's standard thin I stated; they corrected reasoning that order was written INCORRECTLY?! I asked what's the $1 charge for; they reasoned it was for the (simple and standard Vietnamese) hot tea. I asked what's $.50, and they stated it was the filtered water and ice; I looked for it on the menu, and they SHOWED AND ACTUALLY HAVE IT WRITTEN INCONSPICUOUSLY ON THE MENU--I've never seen any Vietnamese restaurant charge for simple and basic water, ice, tea--padding their profits lol! The food was also basically ok. It's located at a "dead" and dirty strip shopping center with a homeless. Please, don't patronize here for your peace of mind and their conniving business ways--no wonder couple customers only present. We love Beef Pho at this restaurant! My favorite is Beef brisket (Pho Nam/Gau) served with fresh pho noodle (they will ask whether you want the fresh noodle or dried version, make sure to go for the fresh noodle, it makes a big different). I also love to order a bowl of egg yolk (tiết hột gà) as that's how I would like to eat in Vietnam. Sometimes, I would add some onion soaked in vinegar (hành giấm) in my Pho for an extra sour flavor. Parking: plenty as it shares the plaza parking space with other businesses. Place: spacious, somewhat clean Service: quick to take order and clean up, need to flag them if we want any extra stuff as they don't check on us after dropping off food on the table, which is typical for most Vietnamese restaurants. read more

Of course the bank will charge business for providing the credit card's service, but that calls business expensed, just because you want to collecting back that fee from the guest, for .50c it will turn your guests away from your business, this is ridiculous. Pho 86 is a nicely remodeled places with ample seating for all the lunch rush crowd. Can't say the same for parking. Just like all other pho places, Pho 86 offers a few items they do well. I ordered the large pho tai. I always taste the soup when it first comes out and I was expecting a stronger tasting Pho than what was ordered. I've been to Pho 79 and their pho was more realistic. Quantity wise, it is all there and you'll end up with a full tummy of mediocre tasting pho. I also ordered a big bowl of beef bones w/ tendons (Xiu Quach) that was fantastic. I had to use my hands and forgo the forks and knives that was offered. Tendons were great tasting and there were plenty to dig out of the beef joints. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch. My husband and I moved from San Diego to Los Angeles in 2018, leaving behind our beloved favorite local pho restaurant Pho Hoa. Up until last week we had no real go-to pho restaurants in LA. Alot of the broths here in LA taste bland and one dimensional. To be honest my husband and I came across Pho 86 because the original restaurant we originally drove down for had way too long of a line and we were hungry! Honestly--I pref Pho 86 even more than dare I say, the other restaurant. Wow. The broth was INCREDIBLE!! Buttery!! I loved that they allowed me to customize my bowl of pho too.
