Not the fanciest of places, but rustic decor aside, the food and service were among the best I have tried. We ordered a meatball pho and chicken and rice combination plate. The meat with the combination plate was seasoned and prepared very well, the meat cut into small and flat pieces laid over sticky rice and everything was served hot. I especially enjoyed the sticky rice and chicken together. The pho was fantastic as well, I tasted less salt than I have at other restaurants but there was no lack of flavor, I was three bites in before I realized I hadn't added any of the sprouts, jalapeños, or basil leaf, all of which were fresh and had a great snap to them. We were very pleased and will dine here again.

Overall, the service and flavor were excellent, but the portion size and meat quantity could use some improvement.

Having had to drive all the way to Federal to get some pho for the past few years it is refreshing to have another pho joint open besides Pho TJ. We were pretty excited to check out the new Pho 81 and to be honest, a lot of things went wrong. First, the host girl was rude. Asked her where the bathroom was and with a nod of forehead she pointed to the general direction. This should've been a red flag. But I have been to severl rude Asian restaurants both in California and Colorado, most of them had awesome food so I thought, no biggie. Then comes to the time of ordering: out of 12+ flavors of boba, 2 flavors were actually available. Okay, fine, we went with something safe: avocado and milk tea. 10 minutes later, we get avocado and Thai tea. Wait, didn't we order milk tea? The same rude girl then tries to tell us that the Thai tea in front of us is in fact, milk tea. We called over another wait staff and showed the beverage to her: she confirms it is Thai tea and agreed to exchange for milk tea. When the veggies were brought out we asked for a bit more as the portion was tiny. The girl ignored the request. She literally did not respond and walked away. We followed her and asked again, it was then she finally said "ok". Another 10 minutes later, we were told they have ran out of CHICKEN. How is it possible that a brand new restaurant with no chicken. Fine, we change our order and got something else. Another 10 minutes went by, we were presented with 3 out 4 entries ordered. We waited and waited for the last entry and it never formulated. 40 minutes went by, when the 3 people have finished eating, still no food for our 4th friend. So we asked: where is food? The rude girl answered, you cancelled it. ??? After some investigation, as it turned out, the kitchen didn't see the order so another 10 minutes went by, our 4th friend finally got her food. Oh, and guess what? It had chicken in the dish. There you have it. Our first excursion to Pho 81. If you look careful into the kitchen, you will find rice bags being left out on the floor next to the mop and the cook smoking out back. Save yourself the trouble. read more

Great pho place to try out. The spring rolls and egg rolls here are delicious! Considering that they have recently opened and are improving by the day, I can look past the past bad experiences. And maybe you guys should too. The owner really cares about customers so give them a second chance. It seems that majority of complaints on this page is service. I have spoken with the owner and they are looking into hiring more waiters who are service oriented, experienced, and friendly. Oh. Whoever posted the photo of the "doggie cup" for the to go pho. Have you really been to pho places?? All pho restaurants give out those cups to customers who have pho leftover. To call those cups as "doggie cups" is rude and insulting to other customers and pho businesses who use them. read more

YUMMY food. Decent service. Just wish they had more Vietnamese decor. I asked the waiter there when they opened. November of 2014. The majority of the bad reviews for service are around that time so it is understandable that the place can be a little bumpy. Hopefully, they will get better as time goes on. I really like this place and will be coming back with friends and family. read more
