The broth is inconsistent. I don't know if it is just that they haven't been open long or maybe the time of day. I still recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want to leave Brighton for pho. They do keep making improvements on things in the restaurant and I hope they keep going in that direction. I still think people are ridiculous for their crazy harsh reviews. Used to be my favorite pho in Brighton, but sadly after many stops I just cant recommend this place anymore. The spring rolls are good. But the main problem is the pho. When buying a large, I expect the broth to at least come close to the top. Lately it's been half full. Other pho places I have a hard time finishing a large. But here, in left hungry. The wait staff has been cut down considerably and it really shows with the length of time it takes to order. they also got rid of the soda machine, replaced with overpriced soda cans. The first couple of times I visited this restaurant (shortly after it opened), their servers were very attentive and the overall quality of the food was excellent. It's been a few months since my last visit and, I am sorry to say that today's experience was very disappointing. The restaurant was nearly empty of customers so it is understandable that they only had one server. Sadly this waitress was way too young to understand the duties of her position. Needless to say, the service was subpar. In addition, their food had neither the presentation nor the flavor that one would come to expect from a Vietnamese restaurant. Went to get lunch there today, waited super long for an order that wasn't right. Then proceeded to wait another 20 or so minutes for the correct order, which was the seafood pho, my crab was still frozen in the middle when I got it. Ordered a beer and was never served. Went with someone and we both did not like the soup. Very slow service for not very good food at all. Don't waste your time. Ate here for the first time a few weeks ago & was pleasantly surprised. The broth was delicious. The noodles & the fixins' were fresh & tasty. The staff was friendly & the price was decent. It's not really a complaint, but I had the beef in my broth & after ordering, not sure it was necessary. The broth alone was sufficient. LOVE that these guys offer delivery through UberEats! ordering through Eat24 or GrubHub is too expensive because the minimum order price is too high and force customers to order more than just the chicken Pho for dinner. I've occasionally done it anyway, but that was before I discovered UberEats. The chicken Pho is always really good with very tender chicken, plenty of basil, tons of noodles, and a bit more hoisin sauce than Sriracha, but still most excellent. (I keep extra sriracha at home.) I don't think I've ever really been disappointed in Pho. But this place needs some serious changes. I feel like the restaurant isn't doing well so they are cutting corners and such. But the quality of the food and service just wasn't good. I ordered the steak and brisket pho that I order from every other pho place. The broth was very bland. My friend ordered her pho with shrimp and extra noodles added. Her bowl came with 2 shrimp. 2! And that cost $2 extra. The noodles were also $2 extra but there weren't extra noodles from what we could see. We ordered spring rolls that were good. Definitely not as big as most I've seen but still good. I also ordered a taro boba smoothie and she brought out an avocado boba smoothie. I tried it and just couldn't drink it but that's just my preference. However, the boba pearls were hard and either way undercooked or way over cooked. I have no idea which one because I've never had boba pearls that hard. The sriracha was watered down. We tried to find a bottle that wasn't watered down to no avail. Are you serious? It was the consistency of cholula. Also, we asked for Togo containers for our pho. We were CHARGED for the Togo containers. That is ridiculous. I hope the owners realize soon that this is NOT the way to save their business. My friend took me here for lunch today because she loves this restaurant. But she probably will never be back and I won't be either. This was hands down one of the worst experiments I've had. A takeout order took over an hour. The lady kept staring and stopping my order to get orders after me out because they were smaller. The two Chinese dishes were got were mushy and tasted nowhere close to a Chinese dish. It was super expensive and I was told the prices increased but weren't yet reflected in the menu. I paid $90 for 4 meals. Overpriced and not worth the wait or the money. This food was nottttt goodddddddd. It was the fly Olympics in there, going for the gold and bronze medal. We really love the high end china platers and silverware the we were served on! The fired rice was mushy and tasted like fish, and last not but least don't forget about the undercooked and overcooked sesame chicken. My husband and I decided to try this out tonight, we ordered 3 appetizers to try them out, for dinner he got the pho and I got the pad Thai. We were very pleased with the food and the serving sizes on the entrees were bigger then we expected. When we first arrived service was very slow, we were seated quickly but even though no one else was there (1 table was leaving) it took a long time for anyone to get our drink order. When someone did come over we ordered drinks, apps, and dinner fearing even longer wait. We did not get our drinks until after the apps arrived. Under impressed with Pho 81. We went for lunch on a Sunday. I tried the sesame chicken special, which was advertised on the windows. The special comes with the main dish, rice, Broccoli, crab or roll and a canned drink. My meal was subpar and the Diet Pepsi has a use by date of five months prior. I don't know that sodas go bad, but being a restaurant they shouldn't be serving them. It made me wonder about the use by dates on all of their food. read more

This is a picture of the Mongolian Beef from the lunch special. The "beef" texture was confusing and the meal smelled exactly like cow manure. I had one bite and gave up because I couldn't help but wonder, how does someone replicate the smell of cow manure to such perfection? And why does this "meat" have such a mushy texture? I'll leave it to you to answer these questions... The spring roll that came with the meal, I swear was filled with tapioca pudding, how can vegetables be that overcooked wrapped up in so many layers? The hot and sour soup was interested and you will absolutely love it if all of your taste buds are dead!! The egg drop soup was ok. Don't go here. Worst Pho in Brighton!! One time I went with my friends to check it out during lunch time. As soon as we entered some older woman was talking on the phone behind the register and sat us down with menus (still on her cell phone). We sat there waiting for her for about 15 minutes to come take our orders and we decided it was too long of a wait and left. Mind you, we were the only customers at the time. This past Labor Day weekend my boyfriend and I decided to give it another chance. I ordered the pho rare steak and the broth tasted like salty water, steak was rough, and the noodles were stiff. OMG! Absolutely the worst Pho and Chinese food I've ever had. Unfortunately the bad experience started in just placing the to go order. The order was placed two hours before we intended to pick it up, when we arrived at Pho81 to get the food, we had to wait 45 minutes for our order to be recooked because it was not even warm and even missing items. We had ordered nine things from they're menu online, different types of Pho, appetizers and even a dish from the Chinese food menu they offer. Once our order was now remade from the mistakes and missing food, we did not even get an I'm sorry for any inconvenience for the issues we had from Pho81's poor service. The food ended up being horrible to make the experience even worse. It was actually inedible! Between the Pho and other entrees we had to throw out our meals after only taking a few bites. The worst was the food was either tasteless or badly over salted. I've never had a bite of white rice taste like a teaspoon of salt, but Pho81 managed to make it happen. That's just one example. Please eat here at your risk! I certainly will not waste money ever again at Pho81. Let alone the $100 plus I just wasted. This was my first experience at Pho81, and will be me last. This restaurant was in close proximity to another Vietnamese restaurant we like that was temporarily closed, so I decided to give it a try. I placed an order for Chicken and Shrimp Pho, and an order of steamed dumplings. It takes about 15 minutes to get from my house to the restaurant, so I thought the food would be close to ready when I arrived. I ended up waiting another 25 minutes for the food, and neither of the people working made any apology for the slow service. I would understand this if the restaurant were busy, but there was only one group of 3-4 people at one table being served at the time. The food was pretty good, but as others have stated, the portions are fairly small. There was very little chicken in my order. I was highly disappointed with this place. I ordered the sesame chicken plate. It took about 20 minutes to get the food and when we did get it the chicken tasted either like rubber or undercooked. I'd even say like plastic. It almost tasted like they bought a make your own sesame chicken at home microwaveable meal from Safeway. Besides the food the building looked dirty and unclean. A very unfortunate first experience to say the least...As my wife was greeted with a head nod she asked if we could sit at a specific table at which time the waitress did not respond to her request. It was only when I engaged the waitress that she answered our question. Once we sat down we attempted to order one of the boba drinks however the waitress continued to tell us that "they didn't have that flavor". After asking for 4 different flavors and being told that they didn't have it, we finally found two flavors they had in stock. When we began ordering our main meal, we were again told that they were out of a specific item. After attempting to order two different dishes I finally settled on Pho, which I did not even want to eat that evening but it seemed to be the only item they actually had. I thought this place just opened! How are they out of everything! After the waitress delivered our food she disappeared for the rest of the evening until I had to get out of my seat to go track her down so I could get some more water. Came here Sunday bc pho tj was closed. Broth was very bland. You can see the oil floating on top. Broth didnt even seem warm. The meats were lacking for a combination. Didn't even have any tendon/tripe. The spring rolls were room temp making the noodles/lettuce feel warm and not fresh. The pork and shrimp inside the rolls lack taste/seasoning. The large bowl in my opinion felt like a median. One thing that made me gave a one star and not two is bc when we were about to leave, we asked for a to go cup for our Thai tea. The waitress brought it over but instead of having myself pour it from the glass to the form cup, she did it. First taking the straw out of the glass with her hands and putting it in the form cup, poured in the tea then put the lid over not before pushing the straw through the hole, holding the straw from the bottom. I really loved my pho and the imperial rolls (egg rolls) were delicious and gluten free. The rare and well done beef were thinly sliced, the noodles firm, the broth clean and the table accompaniments were plentiful and fresh. The pieces of tendon melted in my mouth and the tripe had a nice bite to it but was still soft and clean. The Vietnamese coffee was also very tasty. Overall I had a really good experience. The second time for pick up, they forgot lime and they jammed the pho broth containers in so tightly that 2 of the three broke and leaked all over my car. We walked in the door and the lady behind the counter told us to grab our own menus from the pile and seat ourselves and proceeded to have the most disgusting Pho I've ever had! We ordered Pho, sesame chicken & some sort of deep fried, empty breading that were supposed to be wontons. The chicken had a brown sauce or gravy on it instead of sweet, tangy, spicy glaze. Don't even get me started about the weird spice in the Pho that to this day I still cannot identify. The wontons were genuinely empty shells. I have been here twice before this incident and been pleased with the food, however they are always really slow. This experience sent me over the edge, however. It started with a hair in my bowl. The waiter didn't apologize as I would have expected, he just brought a new one like it wasn't a big deal. After waiting 45 minutes for our food (and watching them bring out food to several tables that were seated after us) I asked one of the waitresses where our food was. After checking with the kitchen, she came back and let us know that she forgot to put our order in. She didn't even remember what we ordered, so we had to order again. Then it took another 15 minutes to get the food after that....it's just noodles, beef and broth, not sure why it needs to take so long. We were finally eating 62 minutes after we walked in. (Yes, I timed it carefully.) As if that wasn't enough to warrant a 1 star review, the three teenagers that were working there were chatting and laughing with each other at the front of the restaurant, and not paying attention to their customers.
