In the Grassfield area of Chesapeake, you will find this place near the Walmart shopping center. When you first walked in, you will be welcomed by 2 kiosk where you place your own order and pay in advance. There were 2 guys working in the kitchen so there wasn't any way to ask them questions if you had one ... ugh. After you place your order, you seat yourself and they will bring your food to you. Chicken Pho- not good! It was salty and had a very strong taste of star anise that I could not eat it!! So back to the kiosk I go. This time I got the Pad Thai. Pad Thai- the portion was plenty, like a serving size for 3 people. It was very saucy and had a very strong taste of tamarind to the point it was too sour and again not tasty at all. I wasn't going back to that kiosk and left hungry and disappointed. I saw a lot of To-Go orders on their smoothies so maybe that's what I should have gotten instead!

The meal was that great. On that visit I got the "souper bowl" Bun/Vermicelli - Chicken, Beef, Pork and Egg Roll over noodls with all the veggies. SO good. So unique. It was a singular experience. I've also gotten the Egg Roll version of the dish (had like 2 egg rolls cut in half in it IIRC). I've had the Pho Soup a number of times in various combos and always good - better than Pho 79 IMHO, but you know, people like what they get used to so... The Bao Bun was great - something I'd not tried before but would definitely have again. I'm actually not a Bahn Mi fan but my son loved it. One day I just went crazy and had the wings instead of any Pho etc. and they were quite good - as good as any anywhere else so nothing wrong there. Staff is generally friendly, attentive, and food is presented well, tasty (some amazingly so) and the place is clean, nice, "sit down meal friendly", and seems well-managed and cared for. I have had a couple of visits where the staff were a bit less attentive, but it's not been bad or ignoring me or anything. As another poster said, this is a gem in Suffolk. Sure, someone might have a bad visit, or it might not be what they expected if they were used to something else, but the quality and care here is exceptional so I feel the widespread praise and accolades are justified.

We enjoyed the Vietnamese Egg Rolls which were served with a mildly sweet fish sauce, good for dipping. The beef pho with lean round steak (tai) came with a more generous serving of meat than I get at other Vietnamese restaurants. The pho also came with an ample supply of mung bean sprouts and fresh basil, as well as the usual jalapeño pepper slices and lime wedges. The vermicelli noodle bowl was also a large serving and attractively plated, although a good portion of the bowl was composed of the egg roll sections (which were not mentioned for that dish on the menu). The dish needed more seasoning; the sliced chicken was very dry and a little tough. The ambience is relaxed, casual, and very clean.

He politely directed me to THE OTHER VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT! APPARENTLY, the other restaurants were in the area prior to VIETNAM 81 and did not want the competition, and he obliged. With that, I asked him to suggest a meal for me, and so he did. I can not remember the name of this noodle dish, but it was scrumptious and delicious! Service was not too long to wait as a good meal does take time. I sat and enjoyed a glass of cold ice water. The ambiance of the restaurant is nothing to fancy, clean tables clean condiments bottles and plants adorn the window. #SEE YOU TOMORROW#!! When my meal arrived, it was a feast for the eyes, as I couldn't wait to dig in. Frash grilled marinated chicken sliced, cut cucumbers carrots, and fried rolls that are also in the menu. This place looked like it specialized in bánh mì, so we figured we'd give it a shot. The shop itself is really cute, and they also have boba drinks, which pulled me in because I love boba. I ordered a Thai milk tea along with our sandwiches. That's kind of where things went downhill. The tea tasted really artificial...like, not something I've had before, and the color was off too. It was also super sweet. My boyfriend tried it and said the same thing. For food, we split two sandwiches: he got the marinated pork and I got the roasted pork. The roasted pork was honestly disappointing--almost all fat. I get that pork has some fat, but this was excessive. Most pieces were barely meat, and the texture was just not good. I ended up picking around it just to eat something. The marinated pork was actually pretty solid. But since the other sandwich was such a miss, we basically ended up eating a marinated pork and what felt like a veggie sandwich. Overall, I think we'll keep looking for other spots when we're in the mood for bánh mì.

The owner took my order right away and my order got started right away. The owner and the cook were definitely Thai and I heard them talking to each other. That made me more confident the food would be legit. I waited at a table while my food was being prepared. The restaurant was kind of big and looked like there were two sections of the restaurant. I didn't really peek well at the other side but I am sure they had many more tables for dine in. The dinner Panang curry came with rice which was nice. My food was ready after a little wait and I went home. The owner was really nice and the restaurant looked nice. I took the food home and it was really warm which was good for the cold night. I didn't specify how spicy I wanted my curry but the menu says it's spicy. It was only a little bit spicy for me but I really wished the curry had some vegetables in it. The Panang curry back home usually has julienned zucchini, ginger, bay leaves, etc but this curry was just curry and meat. The flavor of the curry was good as was the meat but just wanted some veges with the curry. The spring rolls were really good and I finished them all whereas I had half the curry and rice for the next day. Overall, it is a good Thai restaurant and I was satisfied with my meal's flavor and volume so really the restaurant is more like 4.5 stars on the scale of five.

As soon as I walked in I was greeted by T. who was incredibly nice and helpful. I let her know this was my first time visiting and asked for a few recommendation. After asking about my flavor preferences, she recommended that I try the Vietnamese coffee or the salted coffee. I decided to order the Vietnamese coffee along with a beef Spring roll. The coffee was excellent, strong and well-balanced. The spring roll was fresh and delicious. My only suggestions would be to include less ice in the drink and to use shaved beef instead of thinly sliced beef in the spring roll. I enjoyed my first experience so much that I returned for a second visit. This time, I tried the Peach Black Tea and a croffle with strawberry sauce. Based on T's recommendation, I adjusted the tea's sweetness, and it was very refreshing, with the sliced peaches being a great addition. The croffle was okay, I missed the sweet sugar crust typically found on them. The Strawberry sauce was also a miss for me. I found it to be very watery, more like a syrup made for a drink vs a dessert topping. Overall, I had a wonderful visit on both occasions and really appreciated T's excellent customer service and recommendations. I would 100% recommend stopping in and I look forward to returning again soon.
