I was really excited to explore a new Pho place. It's a bit away from where I live but if it was yum, I wouldn't mind making this trip regularly. In the Grassfield area of Chesapeake, you will find this place near the Walmart shopping center. When you first walked in, you will be welcomed by 2 kiosk where you place your own order and pay in advance. There were 2 guys working in the kitchen so there wasn't any way to ask them questions if you had one ... ugh. After you place your order, you seat yourself and they will bring your food to you. Chicken Pho- not good! It was salty and had a very strong taste of star anise that I could not eat it!! So back to the kiosk I go. This time I got the Pad Thai. Pad Thai- the portion was plenty, like a serving size for 3 people. It was very saucy and had a very strong taste of tamarind to the point it was too sour and again not tasty at all. I wasn't going back to that kiosk and left hungry and disappointed. I saw a lot of To-Go orders on their smoothies so maybe that's what I should have gotten instead! read more

First time here and the service is great, they are very attentive and nice. Had the pho # 8 with brisket and it's definitely fatty but oh so tasty. The broth was solid, I added some chilli oil. Hubby had the chicken pho, the broth was good but I'm a purist when it comes for pho. Bone broth or bust lol. I ordered take out- the pork banmi and a bowl of pho. The banmi isn't traditional, it's a teriyaki meat with cucumber. No pickled veg, no pate or processed ham/sausage. But it was still tasty. The pho was pretty good, very heavy on cinnamon. The customer service was not good at all. I saw an order on the table ready to pick up, and no one at the counter. I called for help to confirm it was my order, as I wouldn't want to grab the wrong one. The lady acted like she could not be bothered. She didn't even know what the order was and told me just to take it. So basically anyone could have walked in and stolen an order if they really wanted to. She was pretty rude. I regret tipping, it was a cash tip, 20% too. At least the entrance and steering area looked clean but no one was there and it was 6:30pm. It should have been a dinner rush, which was weird. Soup was good, nice size portion, came with all the extras to add into the soup.. flavor was great!! Visit 2 - Vermicelli Noodles with beef Another great dish, vegetables were fresh, beef was tasty.... Portion size was great as well. Visit 3 - Beef Banh Mi This is the 1 item that I felt off from my usual Vietnamese sandwich experience.... The bun felt more like a hoagie bun instead of a crispy French baguette... the bread was a little soft.. there was lots of beef on the sand which, more than other places I tried. I came by around 5:30 and ordered a #3 pho soup with beef broth. It had everything except meatball. Hubby loved it. They packed it well and with all the condiments. I noticed the restaurant was nicely decorated. They had plenty of seating. I was a bit surprised to see that in an empty restaurant they had several tables with dirty dishes on top. When it comes to Asian restaurants, I am a tough critic. I'm hard to please because I grew up in SouthEast Asia, and I really hate when Asian restaurants 'Americanized' their dishes. I want the real thing. :) Anyway, this review is based on their take outs. I went in and I asked what's good. She recommended the chicken and shrimp pho, and that's what I ordered, but I wanted it spicy. How spicy? She asked. I replied, "Make me cry." I received my order in 5 mins. Everything is packed separately. I love it. The chicken and shrimp pho is so good. The broth is seasoned and flavored well. The rice noodles is cooked perfectly. I am so glad that Thai chili pepper was used for heat, and not chili flakes. It was spicy good. And yes, I cry... wiping snot and all. And my lips are numb for 10 minutes. The spring rolls were mostly lettuce, the pho came without basil, the dining area was uncomfortably hot, and a loud, bizarre, swimming pool ASMR video played throughout the meal. My youngest picked pho as her lunch of choice for one of the days last week. Pho Yeah! (PY) was nearby, so PY it was! - Parking - Center lot, plenty of parking - TLC - We were warmly greeted and the lady was very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed. - Noms - Mango strawberry smoothie - My youngest had seen the pic of this smoothie as I was researching and browsing the photos on this page, prior to the visit so of course, she asked for this. I would definitely pass on this on future visits though. It's the artificially flavored powders blended with ice, so it melts fast and just not worth the dollars and empty calories. Using frozen fruit for their smoothies would be low lift and provide way better value. Spring rolls - The rolls they make are pretty long. They make three rolls and cut it in half so it's a pretty big portion, served with peanut/hoisin sauce. The rolls are tightly rolled and are fresh and made to order. Pho tai nam gau - This soup is offered in 2 sizes, small and large. I ordered the large since I was sharing it with my youngest, but although the bowl was in line with large bowls in other pho places, I felt that there was not a lot of noodles for the large size. There was definitely a lot more broth, which I am not complaining about as it was delicious. I always taste the broth as is before I squeeze the sriracha in the soup. I also ordered an extra order of noodles, which came in a bowl of some more broth. It costs about $4 extra. Unfortunately, it was slightly undercooked, it probably just needed one more minute of dunking in hot water, but it was a bit too chewy so we didn't end up eating it. I did let the lady know, so did give me a 10 % discount on the entire bill for the mishap, without me asking, which I thought was nice. Nice to have a pho spot in Chesapeake! Service & atmosphere were different, not as inviting as the last time we had been there I think last summer. The spring rolls had too much lettuce ? so it was hard to pick up. So the restaurant is really nice and clean, it looks like they just had it remodeled. They gave us big cardboard menus, which was fine. They have iPads to order from, but when it came time to pay the tap wasn't working and logged out and required a pin to log back in so we sat there forever and nobody came out to help us. I grabbed a different iPad off another table and was able to place our order. They have you pay and tip in advance which I found odd. Cause I'm tipping for a service I haven't received yet. The guy came out several minutes later and asked if we placed our order which we said yes and asked us what we ordered. He brought us our food and then I guess our order finally printed 10 minutes later so he apologized for having to ask us what we got. The pho was okay, the portions were good. The broth lacked that deep bold flavor you expect. The egg rolls were good and everything was hot and fresh. We had gotten water to drink as pho is typically salty and you get thirsty, but we never received any refills, nobody ever checked on us to see how everything was or if we needed anything additional. I had a taste for Pho so hubby and I decided to give this place a try. The did not disappoint. Customer service was excellent. Ambiance was nice place is not very big but can still accommodate a nice size party, has seating inside and outside. Our Pho was so flavorful it was Yum Yum Yummy!! I love a good Pho and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be returning again soon. The Vietnamese bahn mi with bbq chicken, pork and beef topped with fresh cucumbers lettuce basil and jalapeño. Also ordered the crispy chowmein. I've tried a few pho places around the area and I haven't had a great experience. This place is AMAZING. I was greeted and sat down and waited for my sister who was meeting me. I had just gotten off work so I was starving so I went ahead and ordered the spring rolls and pork banh mi. Let me say...I WAS BLOWN AWAY. The banh mi was amazing. The pork was so flavorful and all th elements made the sandwich perfect!!! I couldn't stop eating it. Spring rolls were awesome, I asked for nuoc mam on the side after the peanut sauce came out. I also got the Pho Tai, and it was awesome! I got a small just to split with my sister since I had already eaten the entire banh mi and it was soo good. For drinks I got the Vietnamese iced coffee and it was perfect. Also had crushed ice and came with a spoon to eat it. My sister got the strawberry smoothie with boba and I tried it. Super fresh taste but also sweet and delicious. Quality has gone down. Got takeout yesterday and all the fresh fixins were not too fresh, onions looked and felt soggy and a little brown. The bean sprouts were the same. The spring roll was stuffed with brownish lettuce and just wasn't good. The noodles also don't maintain. They break apart almost instantly. To start, inside the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. There was no music or even a TV in there somewhere, so a points throughout the meal, it was just awkwardly quiet. We order at the table, via a tablet, which is fine, but they didn't even bring out everything we ordered through the tablet. Overall, the food was alright at best. We got fresh and fried spring rolls, a bahn mi, 3 types of pho, and a vermicelli dish. Something in the spring roll had just been taken out of a freezer, because it was icey. The Bahn mi was good, but not nearly enough of the pickled veggies and the bread not crispy enough. But the meat was very good and there was a lot of it. The vermicelli dish wasn't cold, as a vermicelli dish is usually served. Very let down by that, as it is one of my spouses favorite dishes. The saving grace was the pho. Broth was very good. Unfortunately, we had to get up and ask for all the stuff that usually comes along with it (basil, jalapeño, lime) because we didn't have a server to come to the table. Fantastic Vietnamese food. Egg rolls and rice noodles (maybe vermicelli on the menu) are my favorite and it's amazing that they have it on their menu. The eggrolls are closer to American spring rolls, deep fried amazing broken up with a bite of everything. The nuoc mam (spelling) is great, sweet and salty. Delicious food that really has the homemade care and flavor. If you aren't used to Vietnamese food just ask questions and the staff will help you pick out something you will enjoy. This was the first place we ate when we moved to the area. It was fantastic! We haven't tried the other pho places in Chesapeake, but since this is so conveniently near us, I see no reason to! The owners are so sweet and personable! The food is amazing and made with good quality meats! Trust me, I just moved from a place with only one decent pho place (couldn't be picky) and while it satisfied the craving, I wouldn't order their bun vermicelli dish with beef because the beef didn't taste so great. But not here! I had some of my husband's teriyaki beef with egg roll bun (vermicelli) dish and the beef was so tasty with great seasoning and caramelized nicely! I loved my pho tai; all the ingredients were so fresh! My daughter loved her teriyaki chicken with an egg over rice! I'm also impressed they offer a rice dish with Chinese sausage, which I love and will try sometime! Their smoothies are delicious... we got the strawberry and taro without boba. Their boba is more like a hard jelly, and that was the only thing my daughter didn't enjoy the first time. But simple to just request the drink without it. If they had the popping flavored bobas, we'd get it with those. Oh and their fried egg rolls are also amazing! I feel so lucky this is close enough that we can go here often.
