    Grilled mince pork submarine
    John C.

I was shopping at Superstore, and was hungry. I noticed this place as i was driving in, and decided to give it a try. The place is pretty big with a lot of tables. As we entered, the staff just pointed us to an empty booth and delivered the menus shortly after We tried two things: - Pho Special #1 (House Special noodle soup with steak, brisket, tendon, tripe, fatty flank & beef balls): OK. It was a good size. I think we only got one piece of each type of meat. Nothing too spectacular, compared to a lot of pho places I've tried. - Grilled minced pork Submarine (banh mi): OK. I just wanted something small and more affordable, and it did the job. Bread was a bit tougher than I like Service is very minimal, but fast and efficient I'll give them that. I saw a table of 12+ people walk in, and the server was able to take their entire order by memory. In fact, I think that one server was the only person to take orders in the entire restaurant. They had separate staff to deliver food as it came up. Very efficient operations. Would I go back? Only out of convenience. I didn't find the food special.

Spacious modern interior. Mon/Tues 15% off! Had to wait 10 min for a table, but service was reasonably quick for our party of 8. BBH - plenty of toppings in meat and sprouts, rice noodles were overdone and lost its chew, but still a satisfying meal. House Pho - a solid pho option, no complaints.

After so many posts on IG about this resto, we decided to give it a try! Coincidentally it was on a Tuesday when they offer 15% off. This deal is good on Mondays and Tuesdays. This place is super busy, people were in and out. Tables were set up kinda tightly to each other to maximize seating. We ordered the BEEF RIB PHO which was truly fall off the bone as it was described on the menu. Each bowl has 3 big bones. Love how the pho noodles are al dente, chewy too. It's such a comforting dish on a cold night. The SPRING ROLLS were just so so. I'd much rather have spring rolls wrapped in rice paper. Flavour is a bit lacking too. The GRILLED LEMONGRASS PORK CHOPS has a big portion of 3 pieces and some salad and rice which we swapped for more salad. Sadly, the pork chop tasted mediocre. It was not juicy, color looked artificially red thus unappetizing to me. For a Vietnamese restaurant to serve pork chop like this seems inexcusable.

Prawn Salad Roll: while it's not the best peanut sauce IMHO, the rolls themselves are fresh and tasty!

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE This former FedEx location delivers! Good food, good price, reasonable service and it's relatively easy to to get to - they are good to go with 5 stars in my book - recommended to friends and family when in Richmond! === 2. FOOD Prawn Salad Rolls The peanut sauce is subjectively alright - the rolls themselves are great: plump with ingredients - which are fresh and the lettuce crisp - great all year round! House Special Pho (Pho Day Diet) It's the works: steak, brisket, nice tender tendon and tripe, fatty flank and the beef ball cut into two. The broth gets the attention of being medium in thickness, being flavourful, but also not leaving you feeling thirsty like that of many other places! Grilled Pork Bun (Bun Thit Nuong) The grilled lemongrass pork slices were tender and the spring rolls were piping hot - yes, they definitely use hot oil here to make the spring rolls crispy! This is a great choice of dish. === 3. SERVICE The main lady in charge can be direct and upfront - but she means well and the service by all others was pretty good. The time to get food on this most recent was alright (given how it's usually busy/full) - and when it started coming, all of our dishes for 7 people came within a period of 5 minutes like they stacked the order together. === 4. ENVIRONMENT They've maintained the windows all around as well as the clean white walls and the bright lighting - which makes for a modern, open/airy feel to the restaurant. There are a variety of tables and booths; combining two four-tops accommodated our group of 7. easily. It's bustling and busy all of the time with not much space in between, so those with wheelchairs or baby strollers may find it difficult to dine in and your ability to find parking in the shopping complex lot may mean a bit of a walk from your stall!

Vietnamese restaurant on No. 3 road, under the the Superstore. Inside space was larger than I expected, approaching mid-sized restaurant. Pretty busy for weekday lunch, but we were able to get seats without having to wait. Menu is pretty typical of such restaurants. Has a selection of appetizers, pho, rice plates and vermicelli plates. We tries two of their fresh rolls, shrimp and pork. Decent size rolls each. The rolls don't have much flavor to themselves, but pretty standard taste when you dip into the peanuty sauce they give you. I got their large signature beef pho which was like $18. All the beef varieties have the same price. Unlike some other shops, this place doesn't use a giant bowl for the pho, but the bowl for large size is still pretty good, and filled to the brim with pho and beef cuts. The pho itself is really good: not sticky, and just the right consistency. Plenty of beef in the bowl. I didn't like the texture of the beef meatball, but the other cuts were good. The broth is decent, although I would add a little bit of salt. I was definitely full of the lunch. Rolls + pho were $25 before tip, so not too expensive at all.

Highly recommend you come to pho 68, and every mon & tues you get 15% off :)! We absolutely love their beef rib pho and we tried their oxtail pho too - still prefer the beef rib one. The broth is so clean and flavourful too. Their chicken wings are so good, especially with the dry rub dip. The waitress (boss), she's so quick at getting our order and everything arrives steaming hot. The restaurant is clean and spacious, and I really recommend you come here for your pho cravings!

One of the best and authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Richmond! Love every bite of my bun rieu! The pho with beef tendon and steak was delish as well. Hard to find the perfect pho broth but this one was so good! This location opened in June so they have a promotion on Mondays and Tuesdays. You get 15% off the total bill. The service was excellent. Their restaurant was close to Superstore so there is parking nearby. Lots of tables in the restaurant and no wait time when we came in for lunch. It was truly one of the best places for good quality food!

    Great meal.

Pho 68 Richmond--where the ambiance says 'cozy eatery,' but the spring rolls scream 'I forgot my spa day.' The food? Fantastic, but let's talk about that dish. It's as colorful as a rainbow on steroids, with enough peanuts to make Mr. Peanut consider a career change. The beef was tender enough to write poetry about, but seriously, who needs poetry when you've got this much flavor? The staff? Sweet, fast, and efficient--they'd probably tuck you in and read you a bedtime story if you asked. A solid 4 stars because perfection is for my mother-in-law's cooking (she's watching me type this). Will I come back? Absolutely. But next time, hold the comedy roast--I've got that covered!

Came on a weekend afternoon just beating the weekend lunch crowd. This restaurant is fairly roomy and bright with lots of booth and table seating. There is a decent amount of food options from appetizers, pho and rice dishes - the typical Vietnamese selection. One item that stood out for me and is not typically available in all restaurants is the crab noodle soup. Portion is quite generous for the price (around $17) but is not comparable to the ones that Bun Cha Ca Hoang Yen. I think the flavour was on the slightly lighter side and while it was still tasty, it wasn't memorable. The servers were friendly - they came by to check up on us which was appreciated! While service was friendly, it seemed like they were slightly understaffed with only around 2-3 servers on a busy weekend. They also offer a % discount for selected weekdays!

(Sn: The constant opening and closing of the door is a bit off putting sitting right by the entrance, but I'm not docking a star because of that) Just basing my rating on the food alone. We Ordered: XLB - pretty good. My mom thought they didn't have enough ginger in the vinegar (but personally it's a mute point for me since if the XLB is good enough I don't add ginger) I enjoyed them. Nice and soupy just the way I like them. Braised Beef noodle soup w/ Kuan noodle - great noodle and beef texture, broth could be a bit more flavourful, but honestly not bad. Popcorn chicken - it's lacking depth in seasoning, and a little overdone on the dark side of things, but pretty good otherwise. Overall, everything was pretty good, just not a solid 5 stars in my books.

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. We came at the perfect time since a line formed after we got seated The tea was served in a lovely big pot too, it honestly felt like I was in China again. I'd been wanting to try some Xian specialities: particularly liangpi and paomo. My group shared two liangpi (the classic and the sesame, these were around 8-9 dollars each and you could probably eat one as a meal or share with someone as an appetizer/side), a biang biang noodle in Xian pork vinegar soup as well as a lamb paomo. Both liangpis which are cold chewy noodles were flavourful and had a great texture (I think I'd recommend classic if it's your first time!) What blew me away was the biang biang soup, the pork pieces were generous and the vinegarness of the soup was very unique. The paomo had vermicelli and lots of soaked bread pieces and lamb: much more gentle and lamb flavoured. Overall, portions were huge and the bill came out to around $55 for everything which was more than reasonable! Note that if your bill is under $30, they only take cash and if over, debit is an option but no credit. I'll definitely be back to this spot ‍

I definitely recommend getting the liang pi and biang biang noodles. The liang pi is perfect for the summer as it's served cold (it's also slightly spicy) with cucumbers. The biang biang noodles had a really delicious sauce and the texture of the noodles made it stand out. It's very wide and had a nice chew (this might become one of my favourite noodle dishes)!
