Frustrated that no place around seems to have authentic ingredients inside. They all almost use shredded iceberg instead of fresh herbs like mint cilantro basil or the dark green leafy lettuce. Trying to take the cheaper way out i assume idk. Most rolls now are just plain lettuce noodles and the meat. Can't tell you the last time I've had a spring roll with cucumber carrot green onion fresh herbs or sprouts. About to give up on these in this area. I've heard of this place before but have never been. Came over here for a lunch date at her recommendation and was excited to get some pho on a cold day. This place sits in a strip mall area, so can be easy to miss. There is not much atmosphere here when you walk in, and it's seat yourself. They have booths and tables, and that's about it. It wasn't crowded and wasn't loud, so you could easily have a conversation and hear the person near you slurping up their pho. Our waitress came over with water and brought menus. Service was super fast and convenient. I ordered the chicken noodle pho, which comes with sprouts/jalapenos/lime/cilantro on the side. The medium bowl was perfect for me, and they had sriracha and chili sauce to kick up the heat a notch. Everything was spot on, and they gave me a TON of chicken in my meal. I don't recall getting that much chicken with other places I've visited so that was a plus! This is certainly a good pho stop, and one to add to your list of places to go pho sure! read more

The broth from the pho was pretty good and they give a generous portion of noodles. The bun thit tom nuong cha gio was good but the pork and shrimp was lacking in flavor. The noodles and vegetables were good, definitely fresh. I wish they had given me more meat though. Not sure if I was just really hungry that time; but I felt like i look 2-3 bites and all my meat was gone. Fortunately, the egg roll was hot, fresh, and crispy! We're huge Pho24 fans and normally visit their Buford location at least twice a month. We've been to this location a handful of times and the food is consistently good! Unfortunately, I'm rating this restaurant low due to a horrible encounter this evening. While the service & food was otherwise pretty normal, we were really disappointed when we watched our waiter grab our side of veggies (for an XL bowl of pho) from a table that recently left. He literally walked to their table, grabbed the veggies that were sitting by the bowl that they just finished and walked it right over to us. He literally handed us someone else's table scraps. In broad daylight lol. When we told him we didn't want it because we saw him take it off of another table, he just shrugged his shoulders. & not that it's make things so much better but he literally used his bare hands to grab a handful of their bean sprouts & mint to throw on the saucer as he was walking to our table. This was my 2nd trip here. The interior/menu appears slightly different from 6 months ago. Menu is redone and now includes shrimp banh mi. There was a "Special" on window for Vietnamese spicy beef stew (Bo bun hue) which apparently isn't on menu but generally always available per the waiter. I ordered my two current addictions: banh mi thit nuong (grilled pork sandwich) and pho dac biet (combination beef noodle soup). Service/Ambiance is that of a family owned/run restaurant. They make their guests feel welcome and customer service is clearly important to them. Pho dac biet was delicious, authentic with fairly clear broth. The tables had every condiment i care about (chili garlic sauce, Sriracha, black pepper). They accommodated my special request for extra cilantro and onions with a smile. The middle sized $9 portion seemed a little small compared to others, but the bowl was ceramic keeping the soup hot throughout my meal. It was so tasty I devoured the whole bowl which is rare for me. I think Pho 89 makes the best quality broth and uses the best ingredients in my area (grayson to pleasant hill region, I've been to them all: Saigon Cafe, Dai Lo 3, Banh mi café, pho.com, Lee's bakery, I luv pho, what the pho, super pho, like pho, Lotus vietnamese). **also, this is one of two places my picky daughter will request a booster to chow down on some pho noodles with chopsticks and slurp the broth. She's even addicted to the tendon in dac biet now. Banh mi thit nuong (grilled pork) was pretty big and tastier than many. I've had this sandwich from at least 10 places, and put it in my top 3. It was odd that it had sliced tomato because that isn't normal and wasn't on menu description, but I liked it. Half the shops use a reddish pork (marinade or food coloring, idk?) but Pho 89 and Huy's use plain grilled pork and I prefer it this way. Bread wasn't greatest, but my expectations were low after having Lee's, Huy's, VN, Banh Mi Café - all have something in my top 5. All in all, I highly recommend Pho 89. Prices per portion size may be 10-20% more expensive, but with Vietnamese food the difference is apparent and worth it. The great food and service earns the 5th star for me. This location filling a void in Lawrenceville is extra icing. read more

As a Vietnamese person, I have experienced better food elsewhere. I came here with my family for Father's Day. It was pretty steady, but tables did fill up quickly. We tried the com bo luc lac, c1(com sac biet), pho dac biet, & bun bo hue. All were okay, but definitely not worth my money. The flavors of all our meals could of been a lot better. It is a family run business after all. ATM they have half off anything that has broth in it until July 4th. If you are in the area, might as well try it out. read more

I come here often since this is the best pho place in the area. The lay out of the restaurant is very simple. I'm not a big fan of the booth style seating. There's usually an excessive amount of space in between the bench and the table that can be uncomfortable especially for small children. The spring rolls are small and they only give you two per order, not 3 like in other Vietnamese places. The pho never disappoints as it is always very flavorful. I do have to say it sometimes has a funny smell, but I'm not a picky eater so the meal as a whole makes up for it every time. I always order the lemongrass grilled chicken with white rice and a salad for my kids which they always enjoy. All in all, this will remain a top pho restaurant for me when I'm in the Lawrenceville area. read more

I've been in the ATL for about 15 years and I've never step foot inside a Vietnamese place that has a 2 digit number following PHO... NEVER. and now I know my intuition was right. The interior is pretty typical of any Vietnamese restaurant... lots of Lucky bamboos and an alter of some sort with bananas as the offering. Nothing fancy, which is fine for PHO, you come in, you eat, you pay and you leave. It's not made to hang out... Well, they have a couple of TVs mounted in each corner and all 3 were on a different channel. The one next to us happened to be showing a pretty gory movie... with lots of slashing and blood gushing out... it isn't the most appealing thing to see while slurping a bowl of soup - at least not to me. Although I didn't order PHO, but it still made my stomach churn, so I had to avoid watching it. We ordered Pho Ga, Pho Meatballs, Banh Mi Chicken and Com Dac Biet (Rice Place special)... my niece is 15 and food is the last thing she ever thinks about. She doesn't care what she eats or if she she eats. So for her to say... the PHO tastes bland and keep adding hoisin sauce and sriracha... that's telling me more than enough without even tasting it myself. It was either watered down or not enough seasoning... it didn't have the Pho aroma or did it taste like it. My banh mi ga tasted weird. The chicken has a slimy taste and there were hardly any vegetables in it. It was very disappointing. The rice plate was ok... it's not the worse of the worse but I definitely didn't box it to go. The service was ok. they did come by a few times to ask if we were ok and needed anything else. I appreciate that. But they have to do better with their food or they're not going to make it.
