Shrimp Pho

Ok maybe it was the wrong day to come here. 12:15 on a Friday lunch time right. After leaving the Farmers Market decided to grab lunch. #1 I almost lost my soul walking on those slippery floors #2 You could literally chew the sugar that was inside the sweet tea #3 I swear they served us recycled noodles they really tasted old. I'm so disappointed I love having Pho on a rainy day.

The main flavor profile here is salt. If you're a fan of the taste of salt, I guess this is the place for you lol. I've been waiting for this place to open for a while because it's literally down the street, but I highly doubt I would come back. I'd usually give them the benefit of the doubt since they're one of the few pho spots in Decatur, but pho is such a difficult dish to mess up on, so it's pretty clear to me when even the smallest amount of effort and authenticity is lacking. Considering this is a chain with several locations even outside of Georgia, I imagined their pho would be exquisite, but nope. It's just okay. The broth was extra salty, and I felt my heart palpitating towards the end of my meal, and I couldn't even drink the water because it was tap water, but it tasted like straight up butt. So here I am eating my salty af extra large bowl of pho without anything to quench my thirst. I would have ordered something else to drink, but no one came to check on us until the end, and by that time I was ready to get out of there before I stroked out. My fiance ordered a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork, and it was okay, but once again the grilled pork was extra salty with no other flavor. There was really loud Vietnamese music coming from the kitchen, which I normally wouldn't mind, but it was either folks who needed to karaoke during non-business hours or really horrible sound quality of some sort of live performance. Either way it wasn't the best ambiance. I hate to say that I probably wouldn't return ever because I'd rather drive to BuHi for better (or cook my own), and I don't really recommend if you are actually familiar with the fragrant aroma of pho.

Big bowl of pho, average taste. Service wasn't great but seemed understaffed. Table was a bit dirty and sticky when we sat down so not the best experience

I liked the Pho24 location on Buford highway more. This place is not as fast and flavorful. But they have a full vegatarian pho with veggie broth! This place is not open 24 hours as well. However, the pho is not bad and this place is good for lunch or a quick meal.

Drove here and it wasn't open during business hours. Please call before you come. Went next down the street to get pho.

Best phó i found in Decatur so far. Soup had a very deep beef flavor. Not too much oil. Meat was fresh. Service was great.

This might be the best pho I've ever had, and I eat a lot of pho. My friends and I ordered pickup for the noodle soup and it was AMAZING!!!

Wow! This restaurant offers a wide range of scrumptious Asian foods…read more The menu is expansive and features Vietnamese, Thai and other Southeast Asian dishes. We stopped in as a group of three. All of us tried variants of Pho --- all excellent. We also tried fresh Spring and Fried rolls --- very tasty. This is first Vietnamese restaurant I've ever visited that does not skimp on the slices of fresh beef in Pho. All the ingredients are remarkably fresh and tasty. If you visit in the winter months and get cold easily, sit in the booths. During our visit, overhead air ducts were pushing out cold air on the chairs and tables situated in the center of the restaurant and it became uncomfortable for us after sitting for more than 30 minutes. Go and enjoy. You won't be disappointed. The food here is excellent. I wish this place was near our home!

I got the nem nuong rolls and a small pho. The food came out fairly quickly. The rolls were really thick but honestly a little too much vermicelli and the pork wasn't very flavorful. The pho was decent but definitely not a lot of beef balls in it and the broth was on the sweeter side. We were never checked up on during our whole dining experience. So the service was lacking in my opinion. Thought the pho was decent but definitely better options out there.

It's a walk up window spot with the menu and a bell, when you're ready to order, ring the bell. The service is friendly and succinct. Non invasive and just helpful without asking when needed. The seating area is a mix between covered and uncovered, with a small speaker playing contemporary tunes at a respectable level. There are string lights above, and I can only imagine how beautiful this all looks at night. I'd read a LOT about their fish sandwich. That it is a good size helping. That it has a great light fresh vinegar sauce with thinly sliced carrots and other crunchy veg. The fish tasted fresh fried. And I have to say, this is the Best fish sandwich I have ever tasted. I only am upset I hadn't come much sooner. I will have to return, probably on a monthly basis for that fish sandwich. There are enough pictures out there of the sandwich. But I also had the Thai basil lemonade and it was a nice pairing. Not a waste of time, effort or dough. Just go.

We bring friends here, and one friend in particular is so obsessed that he was dreaming of their food when he was on a film shoot out of state, and could not wait to get back. You order at the window, and can take it away or eat outside. The place feels like a party when the weather is good. I don't think it is possible to order badly: the owners keep the menu tight, and everything is SO FRESH. When they run out, that's it. (The curried carrot soup will go fast, I've found.) My husband usually gets the vietnamese fried fish sandwich which is delectable with lots of flavor and texture. We rarely eat meat, but I have made an exception to try the Moroccan lamb burger which was worth it. I usually spring for the upgrade to get crispy smashed potatoes instead of chips. And it's worth noting that the drinks are also well above average: I've enjoyed the indulgence of a Bravassi hard Italian soda with my meal on a lazy afternoon, after shopping at the Second Life thrift store. Their drinks are very good, and they serve them up straightaway to savor while you wait for your order to come up. I have not yet ordered a salad but they have an array of excellent / choices, and I know they will not disappoint. I also want to note that although there is not waiter service (which makes it an ideal spot to meet friends) the staff is friendly, and well above average. It's such a great vibe, and a real bonus of living in the area. They also serve breakfast, and I feel confident in their level of quality in recommending them as a stop for anyone.

The flavors aren't so intense as to feel like you're drinking pure [insert ingredient] concentrate, but strong enough to taste everything. The interior is really nice, with lanterns, fairy lights, flowers painted on the wall, a mural on the counter, artificial flowers hanging beautifully in the seating area and in the bathroom (bathroom not pictured). The seating is comfortable and there is good lighting. There are board games you can play and merchandise you can buy, as well. The employees are helpful and friendly. They were able to help me with nutrition information, telling me how much of each sugary ingredient so I could figure out how much insulin I needed. I didn't think I could love Soba anymore and then I tried a different dish on the menu and I fell in love all over again. Soba is my go to place for a hot bowl of yumminess that is pho. Georgia summers are HOT though and I just couldn't imagine a hot bowl of soup on my most recent visit. I decided to branch out and try one of the Com Tâm (broken Jasmine rice) dishes. I got the Vietnamese fried rice with marinated cubed filet mignon and added a fried egg. WOW!!! The flavor was fantastic and the steak was tender and perfect. I liked that the rice had a bit of sauce and flavor and that there were fresh veggies on the plate. It was a fantastic meal that I completely finished. I insisted others at the table try the steak and they were equally impressed. Our servers are always great. This time our server was extra helpful. He had suggested the dish I tried and shared that it is a very popular dish. I can see why and I appreciate that he knew the menu. I'll be back many times, I'm sure and after branching out on the menu, I'll be sure to try something else next time.

I stood near the bar, where both the bartender and the server handling to-go orders clearly saw me. Unfortunately, at no point did anyone acknowledge me, greet me, or ask if I needed assistance. After waiting, I decided to leave because it became clear that I was not going to be served unless I went out of my way to get someone's attention. Before leaving, I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was no manager on duty. I then asked for the manager's name and was told it was Jen, but again, that no manager was available to assist me. My concern is not only the wait time or lack of service, but also the fact that I could not help but notice what appeared to be a possible racial bias in who was being acknowledged and assisted. I have been going to So Ba for almost 15 years, and this is the first experience I've had like this. I'm not sure if there is new management, if this was simply an off night, or what led to the lack of service, but I left feeling extremely disappointed and unwelcome. I truly hope this is addressed, because long-time customers should not have to wonder whether they are being ignored or treated differently when simply trying to patronize a business.
