I ordered my usual iced Mocha Tesora through the app while waiting in the car. My boyfriend went in to pick it up and ended up waiting around 10 minutes. No greeting, no "hey we'll get that started," nothing. He stood at the pickup area, and no one was making drinks. If he didn't speak up, the coffee would've never been made. There were zero customers inside, so it's not like they were slammed. Just super unbothered energy. He even noticed an Asian girl behind the counter literally just on her phone. No hustle, no urgency. And the kicker? The drink wasn't even iced. Like... the ONE thing I needed it to be. I came here today and it was a super pleasant experience! I ordered and asked about sweetener substitutions and Aianna answered all my questions and even gave me suggestions based on what I said my preferences are! She was so patient with me, and I really appreciated that; the girl who made our group's drinks was also incredibly fast at it, and friendly. The store is clean and stocked; with books to read on the side too. There's plenty of seating and a lot of room, so it doesn't feel packed at all. I ended up ordering a hot ether, made creamy, and with two packets of Splenda. It was the best coffee I've ever had!! This Philz was the only one open on a Sunday morning, so I headed over there before going to the Convention Center. It's about a 15 minute walk to Moscone, which was great. I had the mint coffee, classic style, and it was just as good as I remember it being. I also grabbed a breakfast burrito for breakfast and a Danish for later. Both were solid. This is at no fault of the cafe, and they tried to diffuse the situation as best that they could, but a homeless man did venture into the shop and start harassing patrons, especially those that did not respond to his requests for money. For the location of being in the financial district of San Francisco, I must say, this is probably a lovely getaway for someone to get some coffee during business hours! My wife and I came to San Francisco for a little getaway. We had a hankering for a midday coffee and were close to this Philz coffee. Upon entering, you are welcomed by spaaaaaace!!! There is so much space in here it's amazing!! I personally don't particularly fancy crowded spaces, and this Philz coffee being in the middle of one of the most busy cities in the world has a lot of space in it and I absolutely LOVE it!!! Service like most Philz was very welcoming and hip. The place is lavishly decorated with memorabilia of local lore. They have loads of seating space inside for you to set up a laptop, enjoy a book, or even just wait for your cup of delicious coffee. Oh, did I not mention how good the coffee is?! We San Franciscan managed to keep Philz a secret for years, but the cat got of the bag when in 2015 this family business got the funding it needed to go global. Philz coffee is "slow" coffee, so if you are on the run and need a cup in 30 seconds, this is not the right option for you! But if you are looking for a tasty, strong and kick ass cup of coffee made by friendly and smiling faces who make sure your cup is filled with drips of exotic brew, then we are talking! We all have our favorites when it comes to coffee, but I am dark roast kind of guy and I can tell you that all the dark roast options on Philz menu are delicious. We ordered our coffees on a Sunday (not at all busy) and waited for more than 20 mins. I LOVE Philz coffee. It's one of the only coffees I order that is a guaranteed pick-me-up (this stuff is STRONG). I enjoy studying here, and have slowly been working through the signatures menus. If you want something milder/more plain, I recommend the Tesora. I'm also a fan of the mint mojito if you want something with a refreshing aftertaste. I also recently tried an off-menu drink called the oatmeal cookie and it is amazing! 10/10 read more

Ambiance: 4.25/5 - Cute little cafe, super nice and interesting decorations indoor with lots of seatings available, so a good place to work or chill. The outdoor seatings are nice too. Masks are no longer required. Price: 4.75/5 - I got a large coffee and the order came up be to around $5.50 after tax. I thought it was a great price in SF and for good and high quality coffee. Definitely a steal. Service: 4.5/5 - The workers here are friendly and fast service. Provided recommendations and explained what cardamom was and let us smell a sample of it. So this is my situation right now: drank Philz at 2PM, currently 1:30 AM and I still can't sleep. Back story: Because I attended a concert on a Tuesday night, I was sleepy by noon on Wednesday so I made the wise decision to get coffee at 2PM. Also, I rarely drink coffee (maybe once every four months??). Decided to try the Philtered Soul (hazelnut, chocolate) but tbh I didn't think Philz was necessarily better than your standard coffee shops (again, I'm a coffee noob). My palette for distinguishing flavors in coffee obviously needs work. Aside from the flavor though, the caffeine kicked in. Ohhhh did it kick in at 3PM... 4PM... allllll the way until now. Philz coffee is delicious and my favorite. I don't drink coffee often but Philz I'll do any day. I'm not an adventurous Philz coffee drinker. I like ecstatic and mint mojito. They are very similar. Very approachable and easy to drink, especially if you get it the Philz way: sweet and creamy. This location is awesome! Personally, I think everyone is really kind and always happy to fix your drink if it's not up to par. Besides the amazing service, clean facilities, and inviting atmosphere, the 5 stars is for the VEGAN PUMPKIN SLICE. I can't even explain how good this is, and it's vegan! It's so moist and soft and has a touch of pumpkin flavor. It's not overly sweet, not at all dry, and tastes so so good, without leaving me feeling guilty. It's got this wonderful bounce to it and perfectly soft to touch. Given it's subtle flavors, I'd imagine it'll go great with any of the coffees. My new favorite snack! read more

Coffee was good (as usual for Philz) cinnamon roll was ok (standard bakery fare), but pretty confident the egg & bacon burrito was potato and egg with zero bacon. The real issue was the general condition of the facility: had to bus trash from previous customer in order to have a place to sit, the door on the unisex restroom does not lock (or even close securely), the toilet was filthy, and the faucet in the basin was literally falling off. This location is brighter (large windows to both Beale and Folsom streets; paint schemes; lighting) and therefore seemed nicer (cleaner) than many Philz locations. The spaciousness and outdoor seating is also a plus. Order-taking is quick even when they're busy, and it does get quite busy at times. Some days getting your drink is quick and other days not so much. You can order ahead for pick-up through Caviar, and they will have their own app eventually/soon. The closest Philz to my work so it gets an extra star. read more

My favorite Philz Coffee location in the city! It's a pleasant 4-block walk from my work and why I like this location so much is it's a bit out of the way from the main hustle and bustle. Every time I've come there's never been longer than a 10 minute line. The workers here are all friendly. I also like that they have outdoor seating which is perfect on a sunny day. My go-to drinks are the iced philtered soul and ecstatic. Sweet and creamy is so good though sometimes it feels like I'm drinking sugar and cream mainly so I'll try to tone it down a bit. But Philz is my favorite coffee chain with quality drinks that actually keep you awake when you need that caffeine push! read more

Got a Sweet Harmony, which is Philz' take on the oat milk + cold brew that's trending among the big coffee chains. Pleasant balance of cinnamon, sweetness, and creaminess--not unlike a low-sugar horchata. The coffee flavor is very subtle underneath it all. Sausage breakfast burrito was passable--the tortilla was a little dry. A packet of Tapatío accompanied it, which added some much needed salt, acidity, and spice. Seasonal fruit danish was comfortably flaky and chewy. The dough was not as sweet as I was anticipating, and at first this was a disappointment but upon reflection, I appreciate that the coffee and pastry complemented each other's similarly unassuming sugar levels. A mixture of blueberries and lemon curd in the heart of the danish perked up its flavor with suitable tartness. It nonetheless left me longing for some slivered peaches, which are sweet, sour, and in session--hence competitively priced to replace the blueberries. Servers were friendly, fast, and accommodating. The other patrons were polite and readily willing to share space near the power strip. The cafe environment is both soothing and upbeat. There is an abundance of comfortable seating, although the bench along the Beale side needs more back-rest cushions. Today's music selection was a relaxing medley of low-tempo R&B. The decor is a cheery blend of plants, wall art, and LGBTQIA+ banners. As a portion of the cafe's revenue is donated to the Point Foundation, the Pride flags signify earnest commitment to diversity. The location is very satisfying. The view of East Cut Crossing ringed by sleekly honeycombed towers is as bucolic and urbane as one can reasonably expect this deep into the City's commerce-dense northeast. In all, though a few minor tweaks to the food and furniture would be welcome, I had a very enjoyable cafe experience here, and would strongly recommend sipping a cup of joe here next time your travels take you to the East Cut. read more

I love Philz!! It's been awhile since I've had Philz and I was glad I found one nearby work. It's a bit of a walk but worth it for some yummy coffee. Inside is similar to all Philz, super spacious and I loooove how it smells inside. All the employees I've interacted with have been super nice and welcoming. The environment is always great to be in! I used to always get the Mint Mojito (super basic, I know) but it is that good! I recently started getting the Esctatic and ALWAYS sweet and creamy! Sweet and creamy is the way to go!! When I had it again the other day, it reminded me how good Philz is. I've also tried the Tesora and that one is yummy too! I'm not a coffee snob but I enjoy a good coffee.
