There is so much I love about this location in the quality of drinks, the drink is almost always on time, and the location is great but food is such a big issue that has really worn me down over the last couple years. Yes, I have had this issue for a couple years now, waiting, hoping it would have gotten better by now. I have been going here for years now but I have been having consistent timing issues, especially when I order online. At the time I go, it estimates my order to take 15-25 minutes but at this point I have to budget an extra 15 minutes after my scheduled pickup time to expect my order to be ready and I notice it happens even when it is not busy. I have been waiting with coffee in hand and have had to wait the extra 15 mins for my food when I'm sitting with just 3 other customers in there. I have been waiting on a hot food item and see nothing getting heat up for the whole time I'm waiting only for the next thing to be put in is my order that could have been done so long ago. I have had to interrupt the staff member who is supposed to handle my item from their chat because I had been waiting, already got my coffee 10 mins ago, the ovens are empty, and they aren't putting it in! Like I'm trying SO HARD to be patient but at some point it seems ridiculous. I have even seen my barista put it in for me because they noticed I was waiting so long, and that has only happened a couple times (so much love to baristas!). It is hard dealing with all the times I don't see any extra effort to try and get the order on time and I can only hear sorry for the wait so many times before I don't understand why it takes so long to keep the ovens going. I would not complain if they are always full and keeping the orders moving but that is just not the case so often. Either a dedicated person should handle food and not split the effort of the cashier, or something about the app needs to reflect how long we are actually needing to wait if we order a food item. I have never complained in the years I have been going here but this last time, when I finally have complained and was met with a sassy expression-- I'm starting to feel at a loss. I really prefer Philz over any other place but I will have to order more often elsewhere when I need a food item since there is not enough improvement with transparency of how long I will actually have to wait and struggle to justify the system they have in place for it. read more

Hands down my favorite coffee EVER! First of all, I LOVE Philz. It's my absolute favorite coffee place of all time! This location is nearest to me and it's so nice because it's at Culver Steps. I love getting my go-to drink then sitting outside or walking around with my friends. Or, I just get it to-go and and head back to wherever i need to be with my favorite drink in my hand. The staff are friendly and nice, willing to adjust the drink if needed without hestitation. i've never tried philz coffee before since they mainly specialize in coffee, and i am admittedly more of a matcha fan than coffee. but, ever since they came out with a matcha latte menu, i decided to give them a shot! i ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk and honey. my expectations were pretty low coming in, and i have to say that i wasn't blown away. the flavor of the matcha is super bitter and astringent, even with the honey, and the color is more of a dusty green than a vibrant green. the price, though, wasn't bad! it was $6.50 for a medium matcha with no upcharges for an alternative milk. i would be more disappointed with the matcha if it was more expensive. i ordered ahead, so i luckily didn't experience a very long wait that other reviews mentioned. but, i can see how long services takes with some people waiting up to 10 minutes. ordering ahead online is probably the best way to go! i was lucky enough to find a table with outlets and got some work done for a few hours. the downside to working there was the poor wifi connection :( i wasn't even able to connect and had to rely entirely on my phone hotspot! disappointing! there's parking in adjacent structures, but you would be lucky to find street parking! if i ever come back to philz coffee, i would probably try their coffee instead - i've heard lots of great things about their coffees! read more

Stopped by this location to try their matcha. The location is rather large as there is plenty of seating indoor and outdoor in the plaza area. The staff are very friendly and helpful as they helped educated me on how to order as it was my first time. I ordered the strawberry matcha with oat milk and it was good I just preferred it to be a bit on the more creamier side. Just a quick stop to pick up some pastries ordered earlier through the Too Good To Go app. What cheerful, prompt service! My order included 3 Danish (2 apple, 1 strawberry) all beautiful and delicious, plus a stunning pistachio croissant. I wasn't able to have the croissant until the day after, so as one would expect the exterior layer was no longer cridpy, but that was my fault not theirs. The croissant was visually a work of art, with just enough pistachio filling and topped with roasted while pistachios and a sprinkle of ground green pistachios too. I've come to this location a couple of times now, and I've had mostly good experiences; on occasion, I've had to wait a long time for my drink to be ready even when the cafe wasn't too busy, but still, the quality of my drink is always great. In my most recent visit, I had the Campfire S'mores cold brew, and it was soooo delicious. This cafe is cozy and has a good amount of seating available. First time at this Philz Coffee location in Culver Blvd. We enjoyed our visit here for some delicious coffee specialty drinks after a delicious lunch on a Saturday late afternoon. Philz Coffee provided both great customer service and yummy specialty coffee drinks. Our party of 6 ordered Mocha Tesora and Tiramisu. Mocha Tesora was really good. It's dark chocolate with caramel cocoa base. It wasn't too sweet. Tiramisu was also good with a tiramisu swirl and cocoa powder on top. This drink is available Iced or Hot. Philz is a regular stop for me whenever I am traveling through California. I was introduced to them back in the day when I was chilling in San Francisco. I love the quality of their beans. I stumbled across this location while passing through Culver City. They are joined with a Salt & Straw (another fav of mine). I loved that this location had some free samples on the counter when I was here. I have a tendency to just order my usual drinks and not try something new. They were showcasing some newer flavors and I was sold on the Sweet Harmony. This iced drink is combined with Philz coffee and muddled mint, cinnamon and oat milk. I very much enjoyed my drink with my Salt & Straw ice cream that I bought afterwards. Phil Jaber founded Philz Coffee in 2003 and spent years experimenting with various coffee beans from around the world to create over 30 different unique blends. Each "cup of love" is custom made in front of you and finished off with their signature mint leave. The Philz baristas make sure your drink is to your liking before you pay. One thing that is unique about Phiz is that they don't do lattes or cappuccinos. The Mint Mojito Iced Coffee is their best seller and still my personal favorite. I was a first timer to Philz last week. Can't believe I've never been here considering the number of times I frequent the places next door. Fun place, fun concoctions, and service is particularly hospitable. They recommended the iced oatmeal cookie cold brew, and pistachio Danish, and if it wasn't for my holiday diet so close to Thanksgiving, I would have had 3 servings (yes..... I had 2 servings...). Philz coffee is aromatic with sweet and bold taste from coffee beans with a hint of hazelnut flavor. I love the smell as well as its taste. This is one of my stops anytime I'm in Culver City. I've never had an issue with service here. Always been friendly and the drinks are good (didn't grab a pastry this time). It's a small spot like any other Philz, but there are amples of seating options outside. I like how you can customize your drinks. For those who don't know, DECAF is an option. I never saw it listed, but I asked and depending on the drink you get, yes it's an option. Granted, who really wants decaf? People get coffee to wake up. For someone who has to watch their blood pressure, it's good to know it's an option. read more

It's always a great experience. The coffee is consistently prepared well, and I love that the staff go the extra step to ask if it's prepared to our liking. Got a decaf mocha tesora Philz way and it's good every time. Went in yesterday afternoon (3/17) and staff was extremely friendly. I think people easily assume that a large chain like Philz might not have the charm of the smaller independent coffee houses, but they would be assuming wrongly. Stopped by this morning for a coffee and could not believe the slow service and bad tasting coffee. only two baristas on. One barista was fantastic, she moved through her orders so quickly My barista however was moving slow like a turtle... & my entire coffee was watered down milk. 4-5 people behind me who ordered in store received their drinks before me - when I asked the barista if they've forgotten my order it was such an inconvenience to them. the drink she made me was so bad but I was already late (waited over 10 mins). No coffee in my cup just a bunch of milk... I couldn't even risk waiting another 20 mins for something so bad. Please spend more time training staff or save the slower ones for the afternoon crowd and not the morning shift. read more

The staff are all helpful and friendly and it's in a great location , walkable everywhere in culver so a great morning stop or pick me up..but the line does get long here so just be prepared to show their staff some patience on busy days! Whoever manages or schedules this location has lost their damn mind. With only 3 people working, and one of them being forced to go back and forth between the register and the toaster ovens, it's no wonder this place is packed during morning rush with dozens of people waiting for their food 30 minutes after ordering. If a customer has the time to sit around waiting for half an hour, they're not gonna go to a chain coffee shop that doesn't even make espresso. The staff is always really nice here, but they're being set up to fail because they do not have enough support. Somehow I doubt Philz can't afford an extra cashier in the mornings. read more

I arrived here on a hectic morning at around 10am. The vibe is quite bustling, definitely not a spot for chilling out; it's really loud and packed with people. There were roughly 3 folks in front of me, and I waited about 12 minutes for a small ice mojito coffee that ended up tasting like watered-down milk. I couldn't pick up on the coffee or the mint flavor at all. It was pretty disappointing since I've had this drink before, and it usually tastes like coffee with a hint of mint. Delicous!!! Philz specializes in pour over coffee and delicious fresh pastries. For $7 I got a large Coffee Mint Mojito, sweet & creamy but with oatmilk and Stevie and it was insane!! Soon delicious and fresh. The fresh sprig of mint in it really set it off. I will say a slight disappointment was realizing there was no espresso, so if you are looking for an extra punch, with a shot or 2, you won't find that here. Parking at the Culver steps for free, so you don't have to worry about parking. Love Philz and their fresh unique concoctions. Service was great, some seats indoors but the best is the seating outdoors on the Culver steps. read more

Also, this location was so dog friendly and liked the bench where I had to wait for my drink. Everyone had a friendly smile and seemed happy to be there. Finally, the price was also great. Got the drink, which was under $6, and the muffin was somewhere around $4. Nice to get a specialty drink and a baked treat for $10. I most highly recommend two drinks from the Featured Creations menu: the Iced Mint Mojito and Iced Gingersnap. I come to Philz specifically for these drinks, they are so unique and exceptional. They have special names for how they make the drinks, my preference is the "Philz way" which is specified as sweet and creamy. Philz Coffee in Culver City has a great atmosphere with high ceilings that make the space feel open and airy. However, it's usually pretty crowded, so finding a seat can be tough. That said, most of the indoor tables--about 70%--have outlets, which is a huge plus if you're planning to get work done. The drinks here are consistently great! I always go for the Iced Coffee Rosé, and even though I'm not a big coffee person, I absolutely love it. If you enjoy floral flavors, I highly recommend giving it a try. read more
