Viennese coffee with cold foam top

Wow I got the Vietnamese coffee and it was like a milkshake. In a good way but definitely not your average Vietnamese coffee. It had cookie bits and was delicious. If you like a sweet coffee this is a good option and the coffee flavor still came through.

While attending a meeting I saw this cute coffee shop and decided to try it out. It's very spacious inside with plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Service was good and the clerk recommended the specialty drink. I got it with coconut milky and it was very smooth and tasty. Easy parking on the street.

El Nene (featuring unexpected matcha bits)
Sarah C.

Going with 3 stars because my first trip here was totally fine, but the drinks were bad the second time. I got the El Nene which has butterscotch and sea salt. I didn't taste anything tbh. But what's worse is there was matcha bits in my drink. Green clumps floating around the top and the bottom. It was so weird. I chalked it up to some kind of mix up since my partner ordered a drink with matcha and espresso, but theirs was clearly intentionally mixed. To be fair, I did not complain to the staff or ask for an explanation. Truthfully, I didn't like my partner's drink either so it didn't feel worth the effort. We just went to another spot for a re-do right after we left. But I'm not writing this place off of a few reasons. Chiefly, big indoor and outdoor space. We worked there for about an hour and it was totally comfortable. The music was a bit loud but who doesn't wear headphones these days? They've also gotta bunch of syrup options including toasted marshmallow and sugar-free caramel which are both underrated in my book. They've got a bathroom with no code or key (yay) and featured some local artists on the wall. I wish I could remember what we got the first time since we liked those lattes just fine. Im hoping this was just an off-day.

I drove by this place a few times so on 8/15 we stopped by for a late morning coffee. The coffee is ok we both had an iced vanilla latte... customer service was good.

This was a cute and welcoming local coffee shop. I came here in a small group. Most of the indoor seating has smaller tables, but there are more seats outdoors for groups. They also had fans going so it can be a bit chillier if you're going in the winter. I ordered a matcha latte and the pistachio matcha croissant. The matcha was rich and I like that there was an option to make it unsweetened. The croissant was delicious and they warmed it up. It had a good touch of pistachio flavor and not too strong of a Matcha taste in the croissant. The staff was friendly and helpful in answering any questions while ordering. There is free Wi-Fi so people work here. I came on a Friday morning so most of the indoor seats were taken. Street parking was relatively easy in the neighborhood.

They are so sweet here and have really nice decorations inside places to sit and our dog friendly. I saw them give someone a pup cup, which is really nice of them really like the service they were quick and friendly. I got a seasonal Halloween drink and it was so delicious.

Tried this cute coffee shop today and my expectations were blown out of the water. Chill ambience, friendly staff, and my latte was great. Ordered a vanilla latte and it was the perfect balance of sweet and creamy. With plenty of seating and lots of unique lattes to try, I'll be back for sure!

Coffee is good - 4/5 because I've had coffee that I just can't stop thinking about and this isn't one of them HOWEVER, it is good! The pastries here are really good! I've only gotten a chance to try their jalapeño bagel but it was so fresh and I want to try other pastries one by one. They have some unique pastries like guava danish & pistachio croissant. There's are plenty more unique options as well. They also have tables if you want to do some work there

Two iced "El Nene" ... however came out two different drinks ?

As someone new to the area, I was excited to check out this spot and was drawn in by the cozy, modern vibe. The atmosphere is definitely a win: stylish, comfortable, and perfect for hanging out or getting some work done. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite match the setting. The staff seemed a bit disengaged which made the visit feel less welcoming. We ended up ordering two of their El Nene drinks, but both came out surprisingly different from each other--not just in taste, but even in color. One was overwhelmingly oat milk-forward, while the other had a slightly stronger coffee presence but lacked the depth of flavor you'd expect from something described as "butterscotch and sea salt." It was a bit of a letdown overall, and while I really wanted to love this place, it didn't quite hit the mark for me this time. Hoping it was just an off day--but for now, I probably won't be returning.

Avo toast

This is one of my local favorites! Good coffee, great Avo. Toast they mash it and season everything to perfection it comes on sourdough and it's delicious. We stop by on the weekends durning our morning dog walks. They have a sitting area in the back but we usually sit out front , easy to access it's located on the corner of McLaughlin and Washinton . all the employees are friendly.

Stopped by for lunch the other day and was pleased with the experience…read more Joliet is located across the street from Urban Plates within the food court with Jenni's ice cream. I thought it was a full sit-down restaurant, but it's more like a cafe you can walk up and order from, and either sit at their bar area or outside at any of the tables. Regardless, service was pleasant enough. I got a chicken Caesar wrap and a Sakura matcha, and both were delicious. I loved the floral flavor of the Sakura matcha, and the wrap was fresh and flavorful. This is a great spot to grab a quick bite and coffee from, and I would totally come back if I'm in the area.

As I was working through my message, I had the idea to include a visual illustration--a charcuterie setup to represent the abundant life Jesus offers. Right away, I thought of Alex and Olivia at Joliet Cafe. I've enjoyed Joliet Cafe for years-- whether I've come by in the day to get delicious coffee, or enjoyed the restaurant on a romantic night out with the wife - the food is always outstanding. Alex is truly a masterful chef! So just a couple of weeks before Easter, I reached out with this idea. Not only was he open to it, but he took the time to understand the vision and bring it to life. On the day of, Alex arrived early and prepared a beautiful, abundant "feast" that fit the message perfectly. It didn't just look incredible--it tasted amazing. After the service, we placed the charcuterie next to our lunch table, and it was gone quickly! So many people commented on how delicious and well-presented everything was. I share all this to say: Alex's professionalism, creativity, skill, and flexibility make him an incredible choice for charcuterie boards, catering, or any culinary service. He truly delivers--and you will not be disappointed. Thank you again for helping make Easter such a meaningful and special day!

Came here solo after a recent Yelp Elite event (another shout out to Sarah) armed with a cute "two…read morefree tacos & a drink" card given by the amazing staff from Home State at that particular event. Therefore, I have to come and take advantage right? Well, I was able to order both tacos keto style (Dallas Fort Worth variety) and have their contents put in these cute cups. Needless to say they were delicious as was the fresh coffee. The CSA (CUSTOMER SERVICE ALL STAR) of this experience was none other than Erik-pictured. What a super nice guy! Erik was super humble, and yet calm cool and collective-while managing the usual door traffic. I guess where I'm going with this is I certainly couldn't do it! Thanks Erik, your a credit to the Home State brand.

HomeState has become my go-to breakfast spot in the Playa Vista/Westchester area. This isn't your…read moretraditional taco stand - it's definitely a more modern, hipster take on Texas-style breakfast tacos. But they execute it pretty well. One of my favorite morning routines is grabbing a coffee from Blue Bottle next door, then settling in at HomeState with my two favorite breakfast tacos: the Guadalupe and Don't Mess with Texas. Guadalupe - 4/5. I always order this on a corn tortilla. It comes with eggs, chorizo, and cheese, and the ingredients are decent. The portion is generous, with plenty of fluffy eggs that are cooked just right - not overdone or runny. The cheese melts nicely into the eggs, creating a good texture. The chorizo is decent, though it's the weakest component of an otherwise excellent taco. Also, I realized that the portion of chorizo has shrunk over the years. Don't Mess with Texas - 4/5. I'm generally not a fan of refried pinto beans, but this taco completely won me over. The combination of beans, bacon, potatoes, and cheese works surprisingly well, especially with the salsa verde. The flavors come together beautifully, making this one of the more satisfying breakfast tacos on the menu. I've tried a few of their other breakfast tacos, and they're all good. Still, I always find myself coming back to these two. HomeState offers two house salsas roja and verde, both with a brighter, more acidic profile than what you'd typically find at a taco shop. Usually that would be a bit problematic for regular tacos, but that acidity pairs well with the rich breakfast tacos. My only complaint is that I wish they packed more heat. Hot sauces are available, but I'd rather the house salsas bring the spice on their own. Even so, they're flavorful and complement the tacos well. Overall, I like my Blue Bottle coffee + 2 breakfast tacos combination, and will continue eating here.
