I have ordered a few things here and out of everything, their Kind Grounds Latte is the best! I also tried their chai flight which was unique and fun to taste all of their different options! It's a calming space and atmosphere and parking is fairly simple with there usually being parking in the neighborhood! Cozy neighborhood coffee shop. Features that help whether you are spending a few minutes or a quick pick up are: 1) they have two dedicated 30 minute spots and there is freer parking nearby 2) there's a patio that is dog friendly 3) you have your choices for indoor or outdoor seating Although they didn't immediately greet me when I came through the door or when I got to the register, the staff eventually warmed up with suggestions for their pastries. It was less busy when my friend and I went in the morning after morning hike at Baldwin Hills hiking trail and we both liked the whole experience (: I enjoyed the view outside of the patio and enjoyed our pastries too I loved the strawberry vanilla latte with matcha powder and my friend liked her iced chai latte with turmeric I also loved my toasted almond croissant with powdered sugar on top while my friend enjoyed her poppy lemon pastry It was so cute too and we took pictures together but if you like a small and something to enjoy outside without being too crowded in other cafe then yes, I do recommend this place! read more

Cute spot! A work friend suggested we meet here. Ambience: super chill! Indoor and outdoor seating for 2 mostly. Quiet! Parking: can be tricky, they have customer 30 min parking for three cars on the alleyway next to the building, and street parking, otherwise walk or uber or public transportation vibes. Food: got the breakfast muffin with chicken sausage and hot sauce, pretty good. Drink: got the cold strawberry vanilla matcha and it was tasty and sugary so be mindful if you don't like sugary vibes. Back here after awhile and the coffee still slapped as it used to be! Trying their seasonal cinnamon roll latte which was pretty much similar to Spanish latte probably without the condensed milk. Love the fact that milk substitute is free so I can go for the almond milk without extra charge. Ordering process has been super easy with online pre-order being available. As usual I love sitting in their outdoor patio, which is literally small, but mighty with the space provided to enjoy my cup of Joe under the open sky. Cold brew was okay but matcha was really tasty prices feel reasonable and cheaper than some other shops. I like that flavoring/sweetener is just $.25. I also got a pup cup and love that they donate the cost (optional) to a local nonprofit for animals. Cute indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Love this small little coffee shop! There is a cute little garden patio, but it is quite small. Tables are very close together and you'll likely overhear conversation conversations haha. There is indoor seating, I saw some people working from their laptops as well. Drinks are tasty and the staff is very kind. Would def come back for a coffee date with my girlfriends. Street parking only but there's ample sidewalk space in the surrounding neighborhoods read more

Kind Grounds has a solid flat white! I do recommend it. Very tasty! Both indoor and outdoor patio seating available as well as restrooms. Many come to pick up and go or stay with their laptops. This cafe has delicious coffee, fast WiFi, and nice atmosphere. There's a side patio with a few tables and some seating indoors but besides that table space is a bit limited. Street parking is fairly easy on the neighborhood streets and this is a great place to study or get some work done! read more

I've been here three times for their matcha and have consistently enjoyed it. The service is good, there's plenty of nearby residential parking, and the patio makes for a nice spot to work or catch up with friends. They also sometimes have breakfast burritos, which are really good. It's a solid spot worth returning to, and I appreciate that the quality stays consistent. read more

Really cute coffee shop with a chill vibe and friendly staff. 3 stars is only for their iced oatmilk latte. Not sure what kind of oatmilk they use but it tasted like water. It didn't have the usual oatmilk creaminess to it. Maybe it was a mix that needed to be shaken up a bit...dunno. But I wish I had enjoyed it because that's the only plant based milk I enjoy. The strawberry matcha was good but it was strawberry nesquick lol and they charge $7.50 for a medium + 25 cents for "light ice" that's insanity. read more

I got an iced oat milk latte and my partner got a hot Dulce latte. Both were delicious. The oat milk latte was creamy and the coffee tasted great. The Dulce latte was sweet but not overwhelmingly. Would definitely go again! read more

I've been here twice now and have been impressed both times! I got their seasonal drink, which was their twist on an orange dreamsicle coffee. Their pricing isn't cheap or unreasonably expensive either, so for the quality and consistency, I would say it's worth returning. Last time I got their strawberry espresso latte. They are really good at making their flavors come out. I prefer less sweet drinks so I consider their drinks to be on the sweeter side for me, but I wouldn't think the average person considers them to be too sweet. Parking is usually fairly easy on the street right out front. It's pretty tough to find a place to sit, but the line moves fast. Really small but cute space! read more

Such a hidden gem! I got an iced oat milk latte and a sandwich, and both were absolutely delicious. The latte was smooth and flavorful, and the sandwich was so fresh and satisfying. Chai flight is yummy, although slightly too sweet (but what do you expect from a honey chai I guess lol). However I was disappointed to find out that the breakfast burrito is just a frozen burrito! If I had known that I would have eaten elsewhere. The burrito was fine but not worth the price. Love that they have pay it forward drink options! I'll stick to drinks from now on. Bookmark it! This is a cute mini cafe. You could totally drive by it and not even know there is a coffee shop there. There are street parking right in the front which is awesome. I opted to try their unique strawberry latte and it was delicious. I like my lattes half sweet and it was the perfect sweetness for me. The ambiance is chic and the backyard patio is a nice little surprise considering that you are in the middle of cramped LA! The service was friendly. The almond milk latte I had was perfect. I loved the small outdoor area and the coziness of the inside area. There was also a bookshelf filled with artsy goods to buy -- like earrings and artisan mugs. Came here with my dog to get coffee and read on a Sunday morning. I heard about this coffeeshop from a friend who told me it is Kiwi-owned and wanted to try it out. The ambiance is bright and casual. I really like that it is dog-friendly, a lot of cute dogs were hanging around. They have both an indoor area and a small outdoor seating area. I got the iced strawberry latte and an iced latte today. I don't think the strawberry went very well with espresso, but they also have it as a matcha option. Service was friendly. I plan on coming back sometime. read more

A random toddler potty break on a trip from The Valley to OC lead me here and I am SO grateful for that! I ordered a Honey Chai w/almond milk and my mom ordered a strawberry cappuccino and I can honestly say that we were both blown away by our drinks. I truly believe it was one of the best chai's I have EVER had; I am a chai snob lol I know when the baristas ratios are not hitting! My son also LOVED the banana nut bread; I tried a piece and can confirm that it was bomb. Overall it was such a cute atmosphere/vibey + the staff seemed friendly! I am fairly new to the city (less than 1 year) and I've tried several coffee shops (all pretty good) but I am soooo saddened that I JUST came across kind grounds because I feel like I've been missing out!Since my discovery, I've been twice and my current obsession is their iced creamsicle chuggaccino latte with whole milk. If you like Mad Lab's creamsicle latte come on over and try the mushroom coffee version (I was previously a hater of mushroom coffee but kind grounds version has turned me). In respects to the service and ambiance, based on my eavesdropping (lol), it seems they have several regulars who've they taken time to build connections with. And folks like me who are new, are greeted with "welcome to kind grounds!" once they've realized you're new here - so sweet. I. I was looking for a coffee shop with more unique drinks and came across kind grounds. There is street parking out front and off to the side of the building down the alleyway there are two 30 minute spots for customers only. The pastry case and pies looked really inviting, definitely something to try next time. I opted for an iced strawberry vanilla latte. It is made with strawberry puree and vanilla syrup. My drink came out pretty given the rush of orders in front of me. You can choose hot or iced, espresso or matcha, and your type of milk. I opted for espresso, iced, and non fat milk. If you like a sweet treat then this drink is for you! The strawberry puree was a great touch and I want to quickly drink the latte instead of savoring. I saw some other drinks on the menu that looked fun including a boysenberry honey drink that I had my eye on. Overall I think this coffee shop was a great find and you will enjoy their drinks read more

A really relaxing coffee shop that would be a great location to get some work done. Their coffee is high quality and love their selection. Staff was friendly and helpful and had a great experience. Only thing that I didn't super enjoy was that we tried the ham, egg and cheese biscuit and I believe it was premade which is fine but it felt super dry and kind of lacking especially for 11 dollars Will try this place again and recommend for their coffee for sure! read more

Literally the kindest people work here. So bubbly and sweet. You can tell they're very familial here and want to make every guest feel welcomed. UPDATE: the eat-in fee mentioned below was sales tax as is charged for baked good eaten in store - sorry about the confusion! Went down a rabbit hole about how coffee shops do sales tax!! Lovely, quiet ambiance and friendly barista. The matcha they use here is high quality, and the blueberry muffin was very tasty. I was not aware that there was an additional eat-in fee for food - my apologies if I missed a sign, but it would be great if this fee were more prominently displayed. I'm grateful for my experience with showing up and greeted with a friendly voice that guided me through the parking process. I sat from 10 AM - 3 PM and worked remotely while caring for my infant. The iced Grounded Latte was delicious, I can't recommend it enough! We also tried the iced mocha, which was good too. The flavor wasn't overpowering, but it could've used a bit more chocolate; it would probably be great hot. The café itself is super cute and chill, and the outdoor patio is especially adorable. Very cute space. It's clean, functional, staff was nice and friendly. Parking was surprisingly easy - found something down the street and the front parking spots tended to open up about every 30 mins. I ordered a honey matcha and it was yum! Super delicious. My husband ordered the mocha w oat milk and it was also delicious. Very good ratios. The sandwiches are pre-made in a deli area and they take it out add in your ingredients and through it in the grill for a panini. After 5pm, they do have a sit down area behind the deli where you can eat the late night menu and listen to music. We came earlier in the day, so it was just deli sandwiches, chips and a glass of mimosa. If I were out shopping, I would stop by and grab a sandwich but Id prefer to see what the live music and late night menu experience is about. I will go back one day!

There is a large free parking lot though, so that part's easy!

This isn't your…read moretraditional taco stand - it's definitely a more modern, hipster take on Texas-style breakfast tacos. But they execute it pretty well. One of my favorite morning routines is grabbing a coffee from Blue Bottle next door, then settling in at HomeState with my two favorite breakfast tacos: the Guadalupe and Don't Mess with Texas. Guadalupe - 4/5. I always order this on a corn tortilla. It comes with eggs, chorizo, and cheese, and the ingredients are decent. The portion is generous, with plenty of fluffy eggs that are cooked just right - not overdone or runny. The cheese melts nicely into the eggs, creating a good texture. The chorizo is decent, though it's the weakest component of an otherwise excellent taco. Also, I realized that the portion of chorizo has shrunk over the years. Don't Mess with Texas - 4/5. I'm generally not a fan of refried pinto beans, but this taco completely won me over. The combination of beans, bacon, potatoes, and cheese works surprisingly well, especially with the salsa verde. The flavors come together beautifully, making this one of the more satisfying breakfast tacos on the menu. I've tried a few of their other breakfast tacos, and they're all good. Still, I always find myself coming back to these two. HomeState offers two house salsas roja and verde, both with a brighter, more acidic profile than what you'd typically find at a taco shop. Usually that would be a bit problematic for regular tacos, but that acidity pairs well with the rich breakfast tacos. My only complaint is that I wish they packed more heat. Hot sauces are available, but I'd rather the house salsas bring the spice on their own. Even so, they're flavorful and complement the tacos well. Overall, I like my Blue Bottle coffee + 2 breakfast tacos combination, and will continue eating here.
