This is a staple for me when I come here I always come through the train and love to walk through West Loop This place is always so by me and the employees are so friendly. Of course I get the staple of the ice mint Mojito latte. It's just something you have never tasted before. They have so many different milk options and they even have decaf, which is great for me. I always get the chile burrito it's not spicy at all. It just taste like a tangy Latin burrito if you will. Bathrooms are unisex. And there's so many different options for merch. First of all, I LOVE Philz... just not this location. I've been disappointed everytime I come here. The drinks always come out bland and weak. No matter which drink I order the coffee always tastes very weak. I've tried a few drinks here but the quality is always lacking. My usual order is an iced oatmeal cookie with cinnamon through the filter but every time I order it at this location it tastes like the cold brew version which I do not like. This is a chain but a tasty chain. They serve both hot and cold beverages in the same cup, and have straws that fit. The cold brew is good, less flavorful than others but it's good. Great breakfast burritos, they have a few options (Bacon, sausage, and Green Chile). I love the Green Chile burrito, it has potato's, and some nice flavor. The tortilla is a little crispy which isn't what you want out of a burrito but it's still good. The Wicker Park location is great for working too. read more

First time ever today, they gave me 2 cups stacked instead of one when I went to pick it up. Was impressed at the service improvement... Until I started walking and realized why. The inner cup was badly leaking. Once I got farther along on my walk, the bottom cup had filled up and coffee started leaking all over my hands I was walking my dog so there was effectively nothing I could do but trash it. Clearly it wasnt a coincidence. The worker saw it was leaking after making it, and rather than just pour it in another non leaking cup, thought that adding a second cup would be good enough. This place is hard to come by so if you are in Chicago you have to try it! Their main coffee stores are in Cali so we were excited when we saw that there was a Philz! There are a lot of space where you can study or plug in your phone to charge. The service is good and the baristas are knowledgeable. I come here often to work from "home". There are plenty of outlets and frequent "co-workers" looking to change up scenery, too. Noise levels are moderate, mostly due to music rather than people talking. There's one community table, 2 couches, no more than 3 small tables, and plenty of individual stools. I got the iced coffee rose and it was really good. It's creamy and not too sweet and you can still taste the hints of rose that surprisingly complimented the coffee very well. Came in about 15 minutes after opening and besides the baristas it was just me (which is a plus hehe). After exchanging good mornings, I ordered a small silken splendor straight up since that's what I usually drink in the mornings at home. It was pretty fun to see the barista pour the freshly brewed coffee back and forth the two pitchers. I usually don't see that being done for hot drinks which was cool to see. I was looking for a place to sit and read when I noticed all of the artwork and personal touches around the store. It is so nice to get lost in looking at everything personally. In light of that, I did want to mention that I frequent the Lincoln Park, Hyde Park, and Evanston locations, but after visiting today, the Wicker Park Philz location is by far my favorite. My go-to coffee shop whenever I come back to visit Chicago! I absolutely LOVE this place. The interior is so spacious and bright, you could definitely find yourself doing work here (I have!). All the baristas are extremely nice and helpful. Their menu consists of a wide array of different coffee beans, each with their own unique flavor! You'll find a short description of each of them on their menu so you'll know exactly what you're getting. The best thing of all? They don't charge extra for different creamers! They don't believe you should have to pay for dietary restrictions (I'm lactose-intolerant). My favorite drink is the Mint Mojito but honestly, everything on the menu is really good. Philz is great. I've been coming here since they opened in this location and haven't been disappointed. My favorite thing on the menu is the iced coffee rosé (make it sweet and creamy). I've also tried the mint mojito coffee and a couple of the different coffee blends. Food wise, pumpkin loaf is delicious. Everything there is far superior to Starbucks-- the ambiance is better, the coffee doesn't taste burnt, and the food is more delicious. I'm not a regular coffee drinker but will always stop at Philz as a treat. Even when there is a long line, it moves fast and the staff here are SO nice. They make me enjoy ordering a coffee! They have you try your coffee at the counter before you take it away and will change anything for you if it's not up to your taste. This is a cute place to sit and work or grab and go. I just happened to be in the area conducting an errand and saw this cute, colorful cafe, so I decided to stop in. I am in the area occasionally, mostly visiting either the Starbucks or FedEx Office across the street. With Philz Coffee being located in a busy area within Wicker Park, I embraced the fact that it would be congested inside. If you have time to pre-order just to pick-up and go, I recommend doing so because this area can be horrendous when it comes to parking, FYI! Out of their featured drinks, I took an interest in the Jacob's Wonderbar which is noted for being chocolatey with subtle hints of fruit! A kudos to the employee who gave me a sample of it after it caught my interest. I enjoyed the Jacob's Wonderbar as well as the overall vibe of Philz Coffee inside. We already got caffeinated with our breakfast but had to stop by Philz for the infamous Mint Mojito. I have had it once before but my friends hadn't tried it and were eager for a taste. The shop is spacious, with some covered outdoor seating that we hunkered down at. Drinks are cheap but honestly, worth every penny. Order your drinks at the counter and wait for pick up. And MAKE SURE to always include an iced mint mojito in your order, no matter the temperature outside or if you're ordering anything else. Pro tip. I do have one major complaint. Stopped here as i was heading for an appointment as I've yet the chance to try a coffee from Philz. I ordered the Honey Haze cold brew, and chocolate croissant. Cashier was very friendly and patient with me as i ordered. Both of what i ordered were very delicious! The coffee here is pretty good, but on the expensive side. And they charge you an extra dollar to make something with ice (stupid if you ask me). The food is not very good. They try to offer a large variety and end up doing nothing well. As for the location, the place is immaculate, but it's not somewhere that I'd like to sit and hang out or work. Chicago has lots of wonderful coffee shops, but Philz is not one of them. It's odd because in San Francisco Philz is pretty legit, but they missed on their store here. read more

They originated in San Francisco and have now opened their first store in Chicago. They specialize in custom Blended coffees, teas, specialty drinks and pastries. They're not officially open yet, so you'll have to wait a week or so to enjoy it for yourself. it's on a very busy street in a very popular area so, I would expect them to have long lines when they actually do open. read more

I've been to the locations in SF/DC and loved it, so I'm extremely happy to have this amazing coffee shop open up in Chicago. Stopped by the other day and everything from the quality coffee to the superb customer service is just like other locations. What makes Philz different from other coffee shops is the wide selection of coffee grounds you have to choose from. The flavor profile of each coffee they serve is unique, so you can choose something different each time you visit. Tesora, Philharmonic, and Philtered Soul are probably my top 3. The other cool thing about Philz is that your barista will make the coffee to your taste. You tell him how much cream/sugar/honey you like as well as if you want any other additions like cinnamon/cardamom/mint. They let you taste the coffee once it's ready and they'll adjust it if needed. Relative to other coffee shops, the coffee is very reasonably priced relative to the amount of coffee you receive. There's plenty of seating/space inside as well as some outdoor seating. Seems like a great location to get some studying/work done. Definitely will be visiting Philz quite often. They have plans to open up locations in Hyde Park, Lincoln Park, and Evanston in the near future as well if you live closer to those areas. read more

I tried the Gingersnap, Mint Mojito, and Iced Coffee Rosé and every drink tasted exactly as described. I first tasted Philz when I lived in the Bay Area so imagine my joy when it finally opened here in Wicker Park! Makes me feel less homesick and so much closer to home!! Mint mojito is of course my first love since I love everything mint. Then comes Mocha Tesora :) so good! I think my sister questioned it best when she asked "What do you think they do with their beans that make them taste so good? Do they kiss and tuck each one in every night?" - I can't help but laugh out loud, but it's true! Their coffee is so dang good, you would think they raised each one with love and care haha. I have to also mention that they are handling this pandemic so well. For a while they had pickup available with social distancing, masks required, pre-ordered through the app and more just to make the experience safe. It was awesome. The app makes it easier to customize and the whole process is quick and seamless. Now they let you come in, but they still have a quick pickup area - still feel really safe. My favorites are their new take-home cold brew, Jacob's Wonderbar to brew at home, and their Mint Mojito & Gingerbread is boooooomb! When I'm treating myself, those are my go-to's. Philz has a variety of signature coffees. They are all made to order and at the moment. I got the mint mojito with oat milk. They have dairy free options, and one of the options is oat milk. Personally I think oat milk makes coffees taste so delicious. Philz coffee also has a vegan breakfast sandwich. I did not try it but I definitely will come back and try it.
