We ordered through DoorDash this time, so I definitely think I need to come back in person before making a final judgment. The drinks were pretty watered down by the time they arrived, and the foam had mostly melted. The Vienna Latte (5/10) tasted like a pretty normal latte. It wasn't too bitter, but the foam had completely melted off by the time I drank it. The Matcha Einspänner (4/10) was also really watered down. The foam had melted off, which definitely took away from the drink. I could taste the earthy matcha and it was on the sweeter side, but the watered down texture really threw me off. The Totoro (7/10) was definitely my favorite. I couldn't really taste any espresso, but the base tasted like coconut milk with a hint of black sesame, and the salty foam on top worked really well with it. Super unique flavor. I'll definitely have to visit in person next time and try these fresh because I feel like DoorDash did them no favors. read more

It took me far too long to try this place because the website doesn't really give any information on the café and their Instagram page is also less than helpful. And then I did finally show up in the rain and arrived at the address Google Maps directed me to and proceeded to question "where the heck is this supposed to be at?" It turns out it is inside the arts center building, and we weren't on the right side of the building to see the entry to the café (visible from the 606 trail). OK, after a small bit of trial, we had finally arrived, and I'm glad we persevered and gave them a try. They have very unique coffee creations and they change out their menu somewhat regularly. I got the Alyssa's Banana Cream on my first visit and returned a few weeks later to try the Lemon Pie Vienna. I just wish it was easier to find a menu to view online! read more

TL;DR: You should go out of your way to visit here! I had their Columbian espresso, very well brewed, perfect temperature, served with sparkling water that has a great mineral composition. If you're a coffee snob like I am, this place is a great choice. I went 40 minutes out of my way to try it and I am thoroughly happy with my decision! If I lived nearby, it would be my daily driver. My experience today was very nice as in the taste of the coffee plus the minimalistic experience. The one thing that I would say is that the location is hard to find at first it's inside of the art center. I like the fact that you're able to choose which MIN you would like for the espresso based drink. I ordered an Ethiopian cappuccino with almond milk and cinnamon powder. The first sip was everything that had high notes of fruity variables and very light on the pallet. The milk was steamed to perfection and the whole drink made for a great experience. Mind blowing coffee shop. The Warhol is a one of a kind drink. Nice refreshing orange latte type of drink - not too sweet but also really really good flavor. Had to go back 2 days in a row because I was thinking about it all day. Barista was friendly and chill. Did a great job with the morning rush and he was working single handedly. My wife is a big matcha connoisseur. She makes quality matcha at home, and most matcha's out don't compare to what she makes at home, but this one she said was the best she's ever had aside from her matcha at home. And I agree, it was fantastic. We also tried the Ponyo. It's similar to the Warhol but strawberry. A little on the sweeter side, so refreshing and delicious. A dessert type of coffee but doesn't feel too sugary. Can't believe I haven't been here sooner! Life will never be the same now that I've experienced Dayglow. read more

This is in Humboldt Park which is a bit of a hike for me. I'm glad I tried it out but I don't think I'll go out of my way to go here for coffee since it's far. I got the Andy Warhol which was unique - coffee with citrus. There's not a lot of tables. But it is near the 606 trail so it's great for grabbing a drink and then walking. I found out about this place after they advertised for a free matcha after the bears won their wildcard game (apparently the QB is a big fan of matcha). I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. It's located in the kimball arts center and you need to enter on the non parking lot side or else the door will be locked and you'll need someone to let you in. The center itself has some fun spots to explore but I'm going to focus one dayglow. All I got was the matcha with oatmilk and lots of vanilla. It was good! I'd come back for another matcha. They usually run about $8. It's 50 cents extra for non dairy milk. Kinda of on the pricier side in my opinion. I found street parking on a Monday at noon so not too bad. There are seats inside and outside to do work with free wifi (password: dayglowguest). The barista I had was polite so I tipped even though the drink was free. I stayed to do work and an hour later, another barista was at the register and he was complaining to a customer (who though the bears logo was the cubs) who bought a drink that they only make money on tips and that he hopes the bears don't win another game because he was not a fan of this promo. Then he started asking people if they wanted to leave a tip when they stepped up to get their free drinks. I was a little perturbed by that interaction which is why I'm dropping a star. I get that he was frustrated because they were slammed but promos like these encourage people to try new spots and get new customers who potentially could return later as paying customers if their drink was good. read more

The most amazing coffee shop in Chicago - amazing assortment of beans from all over the world. Tried the Warhol which was most similar to a perfectly balanced spiced orange latte. The staff was super knowledgeable of the coffee offerings and I also tried the espresso from Swerl and a Pourover from Sumo in Ireland. I love the cocktail style approach Dayglow has to coffee. The beverages are just as delicious as they are unique. The inside is adorable as well. The key factor and appeal apart for them having delicious beverages and great co-working spaces is the proximity to the 606. There is no better combo than snagging an iced beverage with your dog and heading over to the 606 for a walk! Also your dog is allowed inside- so nice! Service is fast and efficient. Wow, just wow. That's it, that's my review. OK, just kidding, but seriously. This place is a coffee shop for people that are really, REALLY seriously into coffee, and I mean actual coffee, not frozen sugar bomb drinks that are far removed from coffee. They do feature a number of unique coffee creations, but they're not what one would see at popular coffee places. After perusing the menu and speaking to the barista, I settled on what turned out to be a delicious exacta of the La Cabra La Familia espresso, and a bespoke Dayglow R05 Colombia pourover via Kalita Wave dripper. The espresso had strong stone fruit notes as promised, with a touch of caramel sweetness. It was likely the best espresso I've had in a cafe, anywhere. The pourover was a burst of floral notes on the nose, with a sweeter finish from lychee and candy flavors. The aroma was positively intoxicating. The space itself, while inviting, is made for serving coffee. It's not fancy, but it's elegant. You won't find a milk and sugar station; they do have some dairy and creamer products behind the counter, and the sweetener options are honey and shop made syrup, that's it. I would give about anything to have a shop like this in Dallas. I think I'd be giving a significant portion of my paycheck as well, because I would be visiting every day. This is one of the very rare coffee shops I give a 5/5. The location is nice. They do have a lot in the back. Plenty of seating. Cozy vibes and cool vibes. Definitely a place you can chill. Now the main thing is the coffee...the coffee is absolutely amazing! Various lattes and specialty drinks but also high quality pour overs and cold brews. They have specialty roasters. Sell bags that I was so tempted to purchase. All that. The staff is super nice and helpful as well. Dayglow is officially my favorite cafe this year! I love their menu. Their novelty drinks are always so good. My favorite drink is the Alyssa Lynch. But now with fall here they have switched their menu up and if I'm in the mood for a warm drink Moonrise kingdom is definitely my go to. All the baristas are pretty chill and helpful when it comes to choosing a drink. Like today when I went in to grab a Moonrise kingdom the barista showed me the kind of marshmallows they use for the drink (I don't eat any food items with pork products which includes gelatin in marshmallows) so I was able to ask that she exclude the marshmallows when making it for me. The specialty drink 'Totoro' is jaw-droppingly good. I wasn't sure what to expect so took a small sip and was so surprised at how tasty the drink was. The distilled coffee is smooth, strong and balanced with strong notes of black sesame. The drink is on the sweeter side - I loved that it included both coconut cream and oat milk. One of the best coffee shops in Chicago. They sell coffee from popular international specialty roasters. Hard to find these beans besides online. My friends and I have brought back and shared Nomad and Fuglen from when we travelled so it's cool to see them both in one shop in the US. Many of these beans sold fresh in store are from the top roasters worldwide, including Dak, Onyx, Manhattan, and more. They are the **golden standard** for coffee, and any coffee lover will love this place. In my opinion, only Metric coffee is similar in its offerings and quality, but Dayglow's offerings are a level above Sawada, Dark Matter, Blue Bottle, La Colombe, and the other coffee shops in Chicago. The baristas are knowledgeable and pull an excellent espresso, and the store itself is very cute with plenty of seating in the common area. Parking is limited. read more

Just happened upon this coffee shop when I was checking out The Wasteshed. Really unique and delicious coffee drinks! I'll be it a bit pricey but worth it for the unique flavors. The baristas were quick to serve our drinks and I like the modern and minimalist look of the coffee bar. I ventured here after taking a bike ride early in the morning. usually I like to have a cup of coffee before walking my dog or riding my bike but this morning I headed straight outside. If going to this coffee shop by bike, I would recommend that you leave your bike secured on the 606 and just walk down. There is limited areas to secure your bike with a bike lock near the coffee shop. Plenty of options for expresso, drip coffee, baked goods and ice coffee. I just got a drip coffee which was made with the Ethiopian coffee beans. The taste of the coffee was really good however the coffee was not very hot. That was a bummer. I also took off a star because I don't think the barista was very friendly or helpful in accommodating my order. All in all I would go back to this coffee shop as it has plenty of tables to relax inside and out. The inside is great if you were gonna work for a couple of hours as the tables are very big and the AC was on very cold. I just want to mention that I'm no coffee connoisseur and coffee in general just doesn't taste good to me unless it's from Starbucks. So my review may not accurately reflect this place. I would say this place is more glamorized on social media because when I came the outside was messy cause I guess construction is still being done on the building. The inside is pretty small too with not that many tables. Service: I read so many reviews saying the service is terrible here but that wasn't the case for me. The employee who took my order was nice to me. The Warhol: My latte was so tiny.... For $8... and it didn't even taste good to me. It was so so bitter. I'm sure they use high quality espresso hence the taste but the bitterness is not for me. I even added like 4 sugars to it and it was still so bitter. Food items: Their food display was kinda messy with no labels so I didn't know what anything was. I ended up choosing the jalapeño corn bread. It was dry but I did like the hint of jalapeño.
