Tax evasion

Worst pizza ever! They use all salt to season plus add more salt after it comes out the oven. Pizza burnt with clumps of grude that looks like black coals. Washroom didn't have soap so impossible for workers to wash hands before returning to work. Rodent dropping in dining area and washroom. Toilet stopped up. Restaurant response to burnt food was " well we're busy". Wrong response. This place doesn't deserve to be in business. IRS, building inspector, food sanitation, come investigate this place. The receipt is giving tax falsification, the plumbing and structure is failing, the rodent droppings clearly indicates infestation. This place is less than one star

Great pizza! Made to order, fresh pizza indeed! We sat down and dined in. It was nice and old school to do that. They had a lot of traffic that ordered to go but it was cool to sit. More people did stay and sit. Service was good. It's old school pizza vibes and we liked that! Free parking which is nice too!

It's been a while since I've been to Phil's bc we don't live around the area but because we came to opening day for the Sox, it was a must!! The service is great! The food is phenomenal and the people here are on it. Love the ambience here. It's never a dull moment - a happy crowd and a happy workers and staff working non-stop making great delicious pizza!!

This pizza place is the place to go. I love it! I usually get a medium pepperoni with extra sauce and well done and a side of fries. It's usually really good but this time my pizza was very salty. They stacked the pepperonis together so it was a little much. The fries were amazing as always! I will return because I usually order from here. It could have just been an off day today.

Holy Cannoli!!! Incredible pizza. Got a sausage giardiniera and a pepperoni onion. The quality of all ingredients was top tier. Maybe the best sausage I've had on pizza. The pepperoni was so much better than other pep and the onions sliced super thin. The crust was delectable. It's pretty dense - 2 of us didn't come close to finishing two mediums. Garlic bread was outrageously good too. Staff was really nice. Most of the other people were waiting for takeout but we enjoyed eating there very much and can't wait to go back. Wow!!

I left in earlier review but I had to include the picture! Only 1/3 was salvageable.

I still like the flavor, I have been dying there my entire life (40y.o. BTW) and have never had this experience. The pizza was simply burnt! A third of it was the only thing not completely black char on the bottom.

Pepperoni & cheese.. so good!

Nice old school pizza parlor!!! Food was great, we had garlic bread and a medium pepperoni pizza. Service was super fast!

This family owned pizza spot definitely keeps it authentic and simple when it comes to pizza. Serving the local community, they do well to keep the menu the same and the prices fairly accommodating. My boyfriend and I grabbed a large Phil's Special without onions for dinner and we enjoyed it. As a first time customer, I like the flavor of the sausage and the sizing but I felt the crust was too thick for a thin crust pizza; felt like a regular crust. And it was a smidge too dry - I think the thickness of the crust comparing to the amount of ingredients on top wasn't good. The sauce is good for sure. For the price we paid, I enjoyed eating this pizza and would return to try another pizza.

We had a great time catching up with friends in a cozy corner booth upstairs. Service was great, appetizers were hot and delicious and the pizza, as always, was fantastic! I'd give it 10 stars if I could, thanks guys!

My interest in visiting Pequod's Pizza came after watching LATRYGUY, a foodie YouTuber I have been…read morefollowing lately. As a fellow foodie, I am always looking for new spots to try--whether they are in Chicago, the surrounding Chicagoland area, or outside the state of Illinois. I honestly feel as though you cannot order from Pequod's and not get a pan pizza! Pan pizza is the entire essence of Pequod's; in my opinion, it is almost a crime not to order it. I ended up ordering their 7" personal pan pizza for lunch on a day when I was craving either pizza or pho. Whether using Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online for the convenience and the ability to schedule a pickup time. Most of the time, my orders are ready--or nearly ready--upon arrival. By the time I reached the restaurant, my order was almost finished. If you are someone who orders online as faithfully as I do, just keep an eye on the tracker for the notification that your food is ready. Because of this smooth experience, the likelihood of me ordering online from this location again is very high. I will warn you: if you are driving to this location, the curb sits high outside the storefront, so be mindful of that if you have a smaller vehicle. Parking is pay-to-park and shared by other businesses along Clybourn Ave. Remember to give yourself plenty of space when parallel parking; it can get tight since this restaurant has a consistent flow of customers moving in and out. During my brief visit, I noticed customers either carpooling or being dropped off, which I highly recommend if you plan on visiting this Pequod's location. Now, as for my food! "A cute little pan pizza," was my first thought after receiving the box from the employee. It was so adorable that looking at the box made me almost regret not ordering a larger size. However, its actual appearance took me by surprise once I opened it. After unwrapping the pizza from the aluminum foil, I saw its charred, caramelized cheese ring around the edge, a heavy crushed-tomato and herb sauce on top, and a stringy mozzarella pull in the center that was sticking to the foil. That sight alone made me salivate in anticipation of my first bite. I brought out gloves for this because I didn't dine in. Instead, I just pulled into a park and enjoyed this "cute little pan pizza" from Pequod's, which tasted incredible! The rich, tangy tomato sauce packed a serious punch that made me smile with enjoyment as I carefully avoided getting it on my hospital scrubs. Don't be deceived by the look of those charred edges, either--they are completely edible and delicious! You don't need to worry even if you have sensitive teeth. After finishing the last bite, I wiped my mouth and declared, "That was good!". If you are like me in search for something light, then I highly recommend their 7" personal pan pizza because it will leave you satisfied. In closing, I had a great ordering experience, as indicated in my review of Pequod's Pizza. Thanks to LATRYGUY for bringing this to my attention; I am happy to share my endorsement of this business with the Yelp community. I also want to point out that I am connected to 13 quality Yelpers who have already shared their excellent feedback about this location. I didn't mind waiting because it gave me and my partner a chance to look over the menu more and ask our server for recs, to which he recommend the Lou Malnatis salad. This salad honestly blew my expectations and I can see why it's such a crowd favorite - the roasted salami bits and gorgonzola cheese provided a really nice savory contrast with the sweet vinaigrette they used. When it comes to the deep dish pizza however, I think deep dish style just isn't for me. You can taste all the ingredients (the cheese, tomato sauce and sausage) but they don't really come together in a cohesive manner. I had one bite and I didn't really feel compelled to take another after, it reminded me of my own home cooking when I would add too much tomato sauce and overcooked the cheese on a lasagna. I'm not saying deep dish pizza or Lou Malnatis is bad necessarily, the service was friendly and attentive, I just think a regular pizza is more my speed.

We started with the Greek salad and flatbread, and they were just as delicious as I remembered. The salad is HUGE--I'll come back to that. For the table, I ordered the half-pound pot pie pizzas. You're given three options: sausage and mushroom, sausage without mushroom, or mushroom only. The first time I visited, I was brought there by a Muslim couple who didn't eat pork. Although I'm not Muslim, I also don't eat pork, and another person in our group doesn't eat mushrooms. We were able to find pot pie options that worked for everyone. I also remember the menus telling the interesting history of the area, including the connection to the Valentine's Day Massacre across the street. That history and character seem to have disappeared as well. When the pizza arrived, I honestly thought a frozen pizza would have tasted better. The sauce tasted like Ragu spaghetti sauce soup, with two nearly raw, completely UNSEASONED whole mushrooms floating in it. It was horrible. Because I don't eat pork, I needed an alternative for the meat. What I received were two DRY, OVERCOOKED, well-done, flavorless hockey pucks disguised as "meat patties" that I was expected to crumble into my pizza. Not one of the five people at our table liked their pizza. My brother, who has also visited this restaurant several times said the pot pie was not how he experienced in the past. At that point, a few of us agreed that we might come back for the salad and flatbread, but the pizza was a complete miss. Then things got worse! As we were getting carry-out containers to take home the remainder of our food--with hopes of somehow doctoring up the pizza in our kitchens--we divided up the leftover salad and flatbread. Our server gave us two condiment containers for the salad dressing. (There are two different dressings that you mix and drizzle over the salad.) We packed up our food, and there was enough salad and bread left for at least two more people. So we asked for additional containers for the dressing. That's when we were told there was a limit of TWO dressing containers per table. WHAT??!!! Even Italian Garden will give you as much dressing as you need without making you feel like you're being upsold to PURCHASE the dressing. At that point, all five of us agreed: the salad and flatbread were good, but they weren't good enough to make us want to return. The watery pizza soufflé and container policy, was a disappointment and turnoff. What I remembered as a unique, memorable Chicago dining experience now felt overrated and more like a tourist trap. It was $250 wasted. I'll also be sharing this experience on my social platforms as well. Honorable mention: The glasses slide around due to the unevenness of the tables (not the booths) and the condensation underneath the drinks. Spend money on the uneven light fixtures outside of your establishment and the rickety tables. Just a thought.

Service is good and timely- the hostess was super kind and helpful. We started with some cocktails- a Negroni & a spritz (both were good & pretty strong). Then we split the Caesar salad and a pizza with half sausage/olive and mushroom/onion. Yeah, the pizza did blow me away- the crust is perfectly crunchy and so so thin. I wouldn't even describe it as traditional tavern style pizza because I think it's a really crunchy crust- but it's definitely wayyyyy better than Dimi Dimi (that's the most comparable crust imo). The sauce has a slight spice to it, and the whole pizza just feels very layered in terms of flavorful profile. The sausage was also spicy but very good and I absolutely loved the mushroom and onion duo. Sometimes when you go to a certain pizza places, it doesn't feel worth it, but all the ingredients felt elevated here and the pizza had an elevated taste. The Caesar salad had a nice light dressing and a ton of cheese. I wish that the lettuce had a bit more of a crunch to it, but they seemed to use butter lettuce. The inside feels like a classic Italian joint, but it's very small and simple Overall, so glad that I finally went and although it's not a place that I would go regularly because I live far, I would definitely come back!

We had just arrived in Chicago and assumed we had been referred to a Chicago-style pizza place. Nope! This place has "tavern-style" (extreme thin crust) and artisan (wood-fired style). We ordered the artisan with the margherita pizza and the Sunday salad. The kale Caesar looked really good too. The Sunday salad was a 4x elevated version of the Olive Garden salad that we all pretend we don't love. (Don't let me lose you at Olive Garden; I do not eat at Olive Garden.) it had incredibly fresh baby gem lettuce, delicious Italian dressing, salami, garbanzo beans, cherry tomatoes, fennel (I think), ditalini pasta, and probably cheese of some kind. Very flavorful, fresh and delish! And it was large! IMHO, a great pizza must have the foundations of a great crust-wood-fired crispy on the outside, light and chewy inside---and a delicious sauce.
