Philly's Best is really the 'best'. We have been going to this location for a while and I am never disappointed with my meals. The sandwich bread is perfection! And their staff is friendly. On a recent order, one sandwich was incorrect and the owner personally reached out to me to make it right. I really appreciated it! This place is a must "go-to" when passing through Burbank. read more

Great sandwiches but the staff need hearing aid. Overall I highly recommend this place but make sure you let them know at least 3 times how you want your sandwich. Being originally from Allentown PA, I've grown up on cheesesteaks. I've also tried every one I could find in CA, for something like the original. Unfortunately I've discovered another that doesn't make the grade. I stopped in early on a Sunday afternoon. When I walked in there was one man waiting for his food and nobody in line. I stood there for at least 10 minutes while the woman (older thin blonde lady) ignored me while taking orders over the phone and on the computer. I was seriously about to walk out, but my desire to try the sandwich kept me there, in spite of the rude service. As I was placing my order, the music was blasting so loud that I couldn't hear the lady and she couldn't hear me. I pretty much had to bend under the COVID plexiglass to complete my order. I ordered an original, fries and a drink. I received my food quickly and it was nice and hot. One of the biggest problems with finding a legit cheesesteak is the bread. I have yet to find a place that has the bread down. This place has absolutely nailed the bread. It is spot on. The meat, cheese and onions were ok. The problem is the sandwich was SOOO salty I couldn't eat it. It was really bad. The other issue I had was the sandwich was wimpy as hell (see photo). There was no meat in it. Complete rip off, for a nearly $20 lunch. During my time eating I heard the staff and other customers debating other issues with the food and mixed up orders. Overall this was a bad experience. I do not recommend wasting your time or money. I understand they have been in business here for a while and had success. It seems as though they are now at the point where they are full of themselves and have stopped trying to make customers happy. I will not be back. read more

There is no way this guy Mike is from Philly because any person from Philly or claiming to be from there this is a complete disgrace too Philadelphia and there delicacy behind the cheesesteak first off it's dry the meat is overcooked secondly who gets a cheesesteak with no cheese I ordered through door dash and specifically asked for Wiz And provolone that's traditional cheese steak right there I added bacon and I added mushrooms there's no mushrooms on the cheesesteak either it's just a dry sandwich with chicken bacon and mayonnaise I contacted the store to reach out to them to let them know my concern and instead of picking up the phone they just let it ring when I finally got someone to pick up they set the phone off the hook Then I had to call back I'm guessing Mike is the guy who answered the phone and he insisted that he put cheese whiz on my sandwich now you guys tell me what does look like, I just feel like no place in Should have a name such as Phillies best this is not. I'll just wait until my next trip to Philly and hit Jim's on South St . Mike -There is no way you can be a Philadelphian serving this crap you should be ashamed and should not claim to be the best your card has been revoked Thanks For the crappy experience never again and I do not recommend if you are or have ever been to Philly if you have expectations this place isn't it try Bobo's downtown read more

This place looked, smelled, and appear to be the real deal Including tons of sports pictures and a Philly wall board of people from philly that have visited. Philly favorites included Herrs potato chips, tastycakes and Philadelphia brand sodas. They even have cheese wiz. The use Amoroso rolls. I asked them if they were from Philly and that didn't seem to go over real well. Well now to the real question, how was the sandwich? In all fairness I grew up in philly and our Philly cheesesteaks. Also in all fairness this was our first time and we will probably not go back to that location simply because we're from out of town. But in my humble opinion Sandwiches looked great but It just didn't live up to the Philly cheesesteak standard I could come up with a few reasons but it's not important so when I was asked how was my sandwich from friends and family I simply said it was OK so you will have to go try them and judge for yourself. As for me I can't wait to get back home and get a real philly cheese steak. I wish this establishment the best of luck. read more

Saw this place on my way to Walmart so decided to stop by......big mistake!! ordered the pepper steak and fries. Unfortunately no combo options! Which sucks! The food was terrible. My stomach is still growling....the fries were horrible overcooked and nonedible and after paying 5.00 for them I expected it to be good. However that was not the case! The sandwich was definitely not good enough for me to come back. Now as a Healthcare professional I cringe when I see folks use gloves improperly! It literally boils me! The cashier had gloves on taking orders and what not then in between help with the food. Now buddy simple hand washing....i.e, soap and water will help to kill germs! Then put on a clean set of gloves and repeat! Now the cook had gloves on as well and then I saw him scratch his face with the same gloves on to pick up so meat to prepare food!! Beyond disturbing and disgusting!!! Do you understand how much cross contamination is in your food!! Guess that's why my stomach is hurting! Epic fail! Moral of the story hand hygiene and soap and water! Can't papatronized a place that has this extreme gross contamination!! read more

Good quality meat, good meat to bun ratio but the sub is small for the price! You'll definitely need 2 if you're hungry. Wouldn't go out of the way to eat here but if you're in the area and jonesing for one, this can satisfy that Philly craving. They have a small, free lot and a good size dine in area for convenience. Staff were also friendly. Distant third compared to Boo's or Figueroa Philly! read more

Food is great, which is why I this place gets 1 stars, however, management leaves much to be desired. My husband went into the establishment to pick up our order as we preordered, while I waited in the car. Lunch was paid for without incident, however, while sitting in our car eating, the manager came out and started snapping photographs of us without consent or reason. Is this some sort of new policy patrons should be made aware of? No signs were posted to indicate actions would be taken. While management was not exactly discrete (she stood right in front of our car and took the photos until she saw me notice her strange behavior) she proceeded to walk back inside, and took one last picture from inside the double doors. So, my advice would be, order, and leave, or do not patronize on Sunday's when management behaves like paparazzi to unsuspecting guests. So very creepy indeed. read more

I've been looking for something that was as good as the few cheesesteak sandwiches out in Philly in the LA area and I think I've found it. My wife recommended this place and though I was skeptical at first, the sandwich I had really did remind me of what I had in Philly at Pat's or at Geno's Located in a small plaza with limited parking you'll enter and the first thing that catches your eye is the large cooking top http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/phillys-best-burbank?select=Scrl-xbJEkQmKSuznAE__A#eEwbkzVLjH3Fcusg2sdV8Q. I ended up ordering the mushroom steak w/ whiz along with an order of cheese fries http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/phillys-best-burbank?select=Scrl-xbJEkQmKSuznAE__A#UMoQOfDXlS3ZRQdmCdoZGA. The cheesesteak was seasoned well and had an ample amount of whiz spread throughout. Not exactly sure why people are complaining about the quality of meat because if you've ever had one you'd know its thinly cut steak. I've had the Jersey Mike's sub and thought that it was mediocre at best since it consisted of mostly bread and a very small amount of meat. The fries were perfectly fried and even the parts that were covered with whiz did not become overly soggy. I'll have to talk to my buddy who actually is from Philly to get his opinon of Philly's Best and see how it compares. Oh do yourself a favor and dine there since these sandwiches don't travel well. read more

I ordered two Philly cheesesteaks one, chicken sandwich, one cheese fries and one normal fries. What came: two Philly and two normal fries. How hard is it to get a order right? Is this what happens when you try to help out a local place? Shame on you. Should have gone to Charlie's. read more

Happy National Cheesesteak Day! What better way to celebrate than with a BOGO?!! We grabbed a cheesesteak and a Philly's Best (that has mushrooms and peppers). I love all the pickled fixings, especially the pickled hot pepper chunks. Perfect addition to the stuffed cheesesteak! I actually prefer the classic cheesesteak over the Philly's Best. Although if the latter had more than a few pieces of mushrooms, I would definitely go for the "Best". I'll have to concoct my own Lily's Best cheesesteak with loads of mushrooms :-) Having read so much about how their Onion rings are so good, we got an order. The size was on the small size and taste was underwhelming. I think I'll stick to what they are known for: cheesesteak Parking lot is rather small with so many businesses in that small strip but there are additional street parking. read more

I can't speak on authenticity, however Philly's Best know how to make an amazing sandwich. My boyfriend and I ordered pick up over the phone and it was ready in 15 minutes. I got the cheese steak sandwich with mushrooms and my boyfriend got the pizza cheese steak with pepperoni and a cheese fry. The food was better than my expectations. The bread was super fresh and buttery, the cheese was nice and gooey, and the meat was super juicy and flavorful. It's honestly one of my new favorites for sandwiches. I used to go here when I worked in the area and it was great then as it is now. They do mobile orders too, so be patient when it's busy like it was during our visit. How can people rate this place as the best philly cheese sub??? We ordered CHEESE attack and it's more like where the hell is the cheese? I saw no cheese whiz on my sub so I asked the cashier and he said oh you guys were actually the last people to get the last of the cheese whiz. Then I'm like okay but you put whiz on my fries but not on my sub. Then the guy who made our order lied and said we did add it yet the cashier JUST told us they ran out. Really??? The cheese steak fries was not good at all. I had better fries at Northridge Farmers Market on Wednesday. The fries weren't even fried correctly and the meat was so dried. Both the cheese attack & philly best bread and steak was dried and lacked flavor. I'm sorry but Jersey Mike's Sub Big Kahuna tasted way better! read more

I'm in love! Went for lunch today (a Saturday around noon) and loved it! I don't know why people have complained about service... all workers were AWESOME, on point, and very helpful with smiles! I ordered the cheese attack with added grilled onions with extra cheese wiz! I got odd looks outside because I shamefully admit to moaning so much eating it! (Haha!). So cheesy and DELICIOUS! I ate outside because I had my dog and they were so sweet bringing out some water for him :) (I didn't ask or say a thing, they just brought it out, so nice of them!) My company got the phillys best and really enjoyed it. We split an order of fries which of course I devoured with malt vinegar they have at their side bar (they have pickles and peppers along with condiments next to the soda machine). I know they can get busy (I can clearly see why!) but it was lovely and not busy when I went with a lot of seating. I think the prices for what you get is good. I bagged up the other half of mine where my company devoured theirs. You can go in and ask for a bag and "foil wrapper" to wrap it up to go. I will def be back and I want to try their other items! I'll try not to moan so loud next time :) read more

Well I write this review with huge regret. I was Soooo looking forward to a good Philly Spot close to work especially after South Street Philly closed. First the parking is terrible Although I was hoping it was do to this spot being busy I was wrong. Plan on parking across the street in a neighboring lot. The gentalman behind the register was great very polite. The wait was ridiculously long 20 min. They had maybe 6 customers half of which had their food so not sure why the wait. Let's start with how filthy this place is. You don't get a full sandwich, you get a sandwich with predominantly vegetables and a small amount of meat I have never had a sandwich that was so disgusting. I didn't even want it. The bread was cold and uncooked. I wouldn't even give that food to a starving homeless person... they were fixing the ceilings during business hours with dust flying everywhere while people were eating. read more

We got the Philly's Best (whiz with), buffalo chickensteak, and pizza fries. Dalena: Both sandwiches were great. I thought the cheese sauce was going to be too salty, but it was just right. The buffalo wasn't too saucy or overpowering. Fillings were awesome, but the bread was awesomer. It was soft, but it didn't get soggy. The bread had the firmness of my ideal pillow, so I definitely loved it. My only beef is that I wish the pizza fries had pepperoni, but that's ok. We still ate it all, and the fries were deliciously golden. Elijah: This was some good eating. There was a part of me that was afraid the buffalo chickensteak and pizza fries were going to only be novelty-good for a few bites, but they were the highlights of the meal. The buffalo sauce was nice and rich, but it evenly coated the chicken so the bites were balanced each time. Not too tangy. Not too spicy. Chicken, sauce and cheese. Perfect. I think the pizza fries were the overall MVP of the meal for both of us. I like that that they used more of a Velveeta/Cheese Whiz sauce over mozzarella cheese - because the pizza fries that actually try to be a pizza, the ones that substitute the dough with fries, gets a little too heavy-handed. And if you aren't quick in eating it, the mozzarella coagulates and globs over everything. Pepperoni would have been a cool touch, but since the cheesesteaks are so meat-tastic, I didn't mind the marinara sauce, cheese and fries being meat-less. And the Philly's Best, a more traditional cheesesteak, was solid. I know the qualification for a good Philly cheesesteak outside of its native state is just that: "for a cheesesteak not in Philly," but this small, local chain seems to embrace the fact that they aren't on the East Coast. Their non-conventional cheesesteak entrées and sides seem to be done with a general attentiveness for making good food. So I'd say come here If you are missing the cheesesteaks from back home, but be open-minded about their eclectic West Coast sensibility (the restaurant's ambiance and décor does some justice to an East Coast set up though). read more

If you want a pretty good philly cheesesteak, this is the place to go. Unfortunately the last time I visited I stood behind a group of individuals about 30 minutes from closing as they made their order. When it was my turn the guy behind the counter asked me to leave. The right thing there would have been a headsup "hey, this group is the last order of the night" instead of making me wait around for 15 minutes and then telling me to leave. We were able to experience this place because the super bowl party we went to had ordered the steak and onions as catering. They gave them two tins with burners and provided a bunch of rolls with really spicy yummy jalapeños and two kinds of pickles, they two kinds you'd normal get at a jewish deli...Half sour and dill maybe? The cheese was in the bottom of there pan with the steak and it had kind of dissolved once we mixed it but at least it coated all of the meat and kind of gave a cheese flavoring throughout. I ended up adding cheese whiz because well, it was the super bowl and I had planning on eating unhealthy and eating lots! The hosts of the party were a bit annoyed because they thought the amount paid and the two hours they waited past their order pick up time, the sandwiches would have been all put together not served buffet style. I guess because the Philadelphia Eagles were playing everybody and their mother ordered from Philly's best and they were unprepared. They must not have had enough grill space to cater to all who ordered? Either way, there were long delays. Good thing the food was awesome! I was happy. read more

Ordered from here because I was tired of cooking for myself in the lockdown. I was craving a cheesesteak and both Charley's locations near me are closed since they're located in malls and I'm absolutely glad I did. The meat was flavorful, the sandwich was packed, and that's all I can ask for in a cheesesteak! The fries are unbelievably good. They're crispy, lightly salted, and the perfect bite to accompany a great cheesesteak. I've had a pretty similar tasting sandwich in Philly and frankly, this was better. Already can't wait to order again. I ordered from DoorDash and had a really wonderful driver. Sandwich was just the right temperature when it got to me, fries were great. Just a shoutout to that service in case you're wondering where to order from. This business has definitely earned a customer for life. read more
