Enjoyed a meal here on 07/15/2025. First time visiting Harrah's Chester and the Philly Tap & Tavern. Great first impression! Sure, late on a Tuesday afternoon, it was not busy. Walked right in and sat at the bar. Can't remember her name, but the bartender was pleasant and prompt. Drinks served - nice. Ordered a cheesesteak wiz wit and a fried chicken sandwich. Both were great! I might see if they can toast the roll for the cheesesteak next time. It was a bit chewy but that's not a deal breaker. It had plenty of beef and cheese and onion. Seasoned well! The crispy chicken sandwich stole the show! Perfectly fried and still tender and juicy. Topped generously too with lettuce, tomato, and sauce. Delicious! Will definitely return next time we're in Chester. You should go too! read more

Husband and I ate here a couple of weeks ago. We stopped by for some fun on a Sunday afternoon . We got here shortly after noon and were the first ones seated. We got a table overlooking the racetrack which was fun. Our waitress was very accommodating- the bar didn't have exactly what we wanted but we just changed our order . I got a cheeseburger which was quite good- very large. Husband got a cheesesteak which was HUGE . We could have easily shared . He was very happy with it . We got fries - they are the coated kind which I generally don't care for, but these were very hot and fresh so no problem with them. read more

Different cheesesteak #1011 in the last four years. This cheesesteak took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. I forgot how much I liked sitting at the bar and looking at the Delaware river. They make a house wiz so I got it with wiz wit. The cheesesteak looked very traditional. The roll was surprisingly soft. The best way for me to describe this cheesesteak is mushy. The meat was moist and I would call it shredded more than chopped. The good news is that it came with very good crispy french fries. You can get your crisp from the fries. read more

We wanted to find a place to watch the Eagle's football game right after we got off of a flight. I took a chance that we would find a restaurant with TV screens at the casino. It is a Sports Bar. We started with a Rum Runner, Long Island Iced Tea, and Tap Old Fashioned. The Rum Runner was good. The Long Island Iced Tea and Old Fashioned were not as good as I have had elsewhere. Our meals consisted of Chicken Tenders and Cheddar Bacon Burger. Both of these tasted very good. The Cheddar Bacon Burger is messy yet so delicious. Joylynn provided us with great service. read more

I wish my friends and I could go to this place regularly for a few beers and horse races, but the with prices like $7 for draught domestic beer and $9 for a bottle of Corona, it makes things difficult. You would think Harrahs would want to grow the business with happy hour prices, or at least fair prices but I guess not. The extremely high prices will probably kill business like they probably want. I get the feeling the business is not in it for their customers, as their extreme pricing policies dictate that fact. Also, the portions sizes have shrunk a bit at Philly Tap. I used a comp yesterday to get my food to go. I ordered a taco salad and the meatloaf special it seamed to a very big deal to sub the mashed potatoes to French fries but I'm not sure why. Also, when I came back to pick up my food I was informed that there was no cilantro for the salad and it was chefs choice for the substitution. I have no clue what the chefs choice was, there was nothing extra. I love cilantro. I probably would have skipped this item had I been told when I ordered that there was none. The meatloaf was very good. The salad was ground beef with a 1/2 a bag of crumbled chips on top. No avocado as I recall reading on the menu. I think this is 3rd time this place has changed names. I think it just needs to get a staff that works better with the waitresses and a menu that they can execute for take out as well as dining in. read more

I, a black man walked into Philly Tavern, sat at the back of the bar. A few minutes later another black man came into the restaurant and sat near me. We watched as the white waitress serviced all the white customers and avoided us. I got up, asked for the supervisor who came out and apologized for the issue and stated me and the other black customer would be assisted. More time past before the waitress walked close to us, said "hi, hi" and walked back to the other side of the bar. I got the manager again who stated the bar was business but I pointed out I have seen the completely full before and this was not busy. As I spoke with the manager, I worker from other restaurant apologized and offered chicken tenders to me and the other black customer. I reached out to the company and to corporate but have yet to hear anything from them about the service I received. I would honestly suggest not going if you are a person of color. read more

I visited Harrahs Philly tap & Tavern and asked the waitress what was really good. She suggested i order the Smoked Turkey club sandwich...........This Sandwich was a Home run, with Fresh Turkey, crisp Bacon. lett, tomato on a Sourdough toasted roll....... It came with french fries, which had a weird texture/taste............ I did not enjoy them at all..........They were greasy and lacked any real potato flavor..... I first visited this restaurant due to the groupon. This has to be the best groupon I've purchased. I'm a little sad that I can't buy anymore because there is a limit of 2 per person. The service was really bad the first time (no issues the second time). Our waitress didn't speak English so she didn't know the menu or what special beers were on tap. My boyfriend got up and asked the bartender. The food was great for the groupon price. The only issue I had with the food was they didn't remove the aluminum foil from the backed potato so they didn't notice that it was completely burnt. Not a big deal because I was full from the apps and steak and I'm sure they would have given me another one if I asked. read more

Went for lunch on 5/10/16, with a friend. Service was great but food? I had the Roasted Turkey with Mashed Potatoes and green beans. Turkey was light orange color with no flavor, looked more like sliced salmon. Green beans were hot but hard as rock. Garlic mashes were ok. Friend had the Braised short Rib dinner. Meat was tasteless, veggies were ok. For $22.00 dollars each I would expect better, being Cove has really great food. read more

Ordered a corned beef rueben with fries. The sandwich was ok. The corned beef was sliced a bit thicker than I like. The sandwich was a little heavy on the sauerkraut. Lastly, the bread was a little sogged with butter, not the crisp buttered bread. Overall the sandwich was not a bad rueben. Just needed a few fixes. The ambience of the restaurant is pretty cool, lots of tv's , race track view through the huge windows. Nice chill spot. read more

I give 2 stars not because of the food, but, the service. Our Server was actually very nice, cheerful and professional! But, waiting 35 minutes for our apps was a bit much! There was a party of 2 seated just before us who managed to eat and leave before our entree even arrived! The house salad is large enough for three people! I had the fried mozzarella which was quite good...as were the onion rings. I had the cheesesteak and fries. Again, not bad at all! The bacon cheeseburger was also very good. Though, the bacon is so thick you could never bite into it on the burger. The bacon of the third person with us was as black as the ace of spades! So, to wrap this up, I wouldn't make a special trip again for dinner because of the slowness. They're recreating the buffet so will make a point to try it out once it reopens. read more

Good selection of brews and a decent mix selection. Four flights of beers, I had the twisted kilt flight, each had guiness mixed with other. It was really good. Had the potato skins, they had a good amount of potato in each, but only 3 total. French onion soup was about par. Southern bbq bacon cheese burger was really good. Cooked to my order. HORRIBLE SERVICE! This is now the third restaurant (unless I've lost count) to occupy the space since Harrah's opened. The food is descent and the beer is very good, but, alas, the service is HORRIBLE! It seems to be a problem that has plagued this venue space since it opened; it takes way too long to get served and food ordered. What should've taken 45 minutes took over an hour. I only eat here if I have to when I'm at Harrah's. read more

Great service! Went with my husband and got the boneless wings buffalo style-- very good. We both got burgers that were cooked perfectly and were very juicy. Fries were very good even though you had to pay $2 extra to get them instead of chips-- that was the only annoying thing. Otherwise it was a very good meal. read more

Well call me CHEAP!! But the Groupon for this place is awesome!!! I've eaten here on several different occasions even prior to discovering the awesome Groupon deal! Each time we go we have AESHA wait on us !! She is wonderful!!! What a doll!! SHE GETS 5 STARS!!! And for all the other negative reviews .. it is not the servers fault that the drinks take forever .. I see it first hand.. the bartender who of course is working for tips .. will dump the waitress table drink orders in a heartbeat while she schmoozes her bar patrons!! That is an issue that needs to be addressed with management .. the poor waitresses are just as frustrated as the customers waiting for their drinks! On several visits I can't really say the food has taken an awful long time but if you are there enjoying your company.. you may now take notice to a long ticket time! As for the food .. We have ordered numerous different menu items.. The Crab cake sandwich is delicious hardly any filler and very tasty, the black and blue burger is an awesome choice .I feel all the burgers are yummy .. Also was satisfied with the fish and chips! The apps are all good .. Just feeling like they could use a little more cheese on the nachos.... Nice atmosphere .. Great window seating when the track is open! Went here for the first time yesterday. Really liked the restaurant ambience. It was clean, lots of TVs, had a nice view of the race track and water. That's about where the positives ended. It's a little pricey for what you get, which is pretty common at casinos. When you're paying $12 for a burger, and it comes with chips, but you can add fries for another $2, it seems a little chintzy. Our waitress was very nice, but it took a while to get our meals. They had another guy bringing the meals to the table and he was clueless. First, he brought us someone else's meal. Then he brought our meals. One was made wrong and when we told him, he still just put it on the table and started walking away. We had to stop him and ask him to please let our waitress know. Finally, I ordered the hot roast beef sandwich and it was the worst sandwich I've ever received in a restaurant. And I'm not very picky. It was a pile of dry roast beef, a few banana peppers, a chunk of horseradish and some provolone that wasn't melted at all and I initially mistook for raw white onions! All served on a bulky roll which apparently had the roast beef juice drizzled on top, and which the sandwich sat in a soggy puddle in the plate. I tried to eat it but I just couldn't. The waitress was very nice and apologetic and offered to get me something else. But by the time she returned again, we were just ready to go. She said she'd take the sandwich off the bill. It took a while to get the bill, and she'd left it on there. So we had to ask her again to remove the sandwich. I was in a party of 4.. We where seated.The waitress comes over in about 4 minutes which was rather long considering it was not crowded and she onyAnd had 1 other table. She took our drink order, 2 cokes , a coors light bottle,and a fuzzy navel and also 2 waters. And 10 minutes later she arrived with all drinks but one water and one coke,The waitree slid the water from one guest to the other to appease him before she could return with a coke.All the while there was music blaring from the band. I know it was our fault to go there on a Saturday night while there is a band, But that is not my complaint. The sound was all wrong. You could not hear what they where singing. It was all muffled.She took our dinner ordernever came around with that soda, about another 10 minutes go by no soda, Finally I spot her and with a tone I asked for the soda AGAIN. Other servers brought out food and we asked them to get us a soda . Our waitress came by 5 min into our meal with the soda. He did not drink it!! afraid to ! This whole time men in suits are walking around with absolutely no clue how to run establishment. The one star is for the Bison burger which was quite excellent!! . read more
