so I knew of this nail shop because I used to live down the street from it and in the past I felt they did a fairly good job just always have been expensive to me.. so I've decided to give them another try 2 years later since I was visiting in the area because I have since moved....... So I made a appointment with Philip but was 5 minutes late to my appointment and because of that Philip left supposedly. I asked was there anyone else able to do my nails they all spoke in their native language and pointed towards me after I sat there for 15 minutes someone came and told me no one can do my nails because they were busy. I don't understand what the problem was you knew from the time I came in no one was able to do my nails so why have me sit there for an additional 15 minutes and talk about me? I've been coming to this place for probably at least the last 6 months. Philip would do such an amazing job with my nails but, it's seems they've gotten a lot busier lately and have not only hired a lot of new people that aren't as good but are also rushing a lot more. The last time I came in my nail chipped the next day and my polish started to peel off on my pedicure as well. It was disappointing. Then when I went in to fix the chipped nail they charged me $5 for the one nail and sent me to some other nail tech that used the wrong shade of red and gave me a wonky and bulky shaped nail and didn't care even as I told her about the color. Since having nails done is not very cheap I would like to feel that the work done is cared about and I' am valued as a customer but, it unfortunately is not that way at this shop anymore read more

Came in today 45 minutes before closing to see if they had time for a pedicure. Was greeted by a man at the front and he said that yes they had time for me to get a pedicure. Noticed right away they put the plastic bag over the tub. (I take that as sanitary and clean so thumbs up there) Then they showed me their list of prices of different pedicures offered, I picked the basic one. I hate nail shops that try to upsell you so the fact that she didn't try to upsell me was another thumbs up. Towards the end of the pedicure she introduced herself as Cristina and that she's never seen me here before, I told her it was my first time here. The fact that not only her but the other employees were engaging with their customers was another thumbs up. Which means they care about their customers feeling welcomed. I'll be coming back because I felt like they were sanitary, they didn't try to upsell me and I felt very welcomed as a new customer. I've been going here for eight months since I started working nearby. If Phillip or Vanna did my nails, I was happy. But, for some reason, Vanna doesn't do acrylic anymore. So, I made an appointment and Phillip's wife did my refill. I noticed she wasn't putting fresh acrylic on the tips of my nails. I didn't say anything that trip but was so mad because the tips of two nails broke off two days after they were done. The next two times, Phillip did my nails and they were fine. This last week, his wife did them again. She spent so long filing my nails. I was getting really annoyed. My pinky finger started to ache on the side where she kept filing for so long. The nails didn't even end up being smooth after all that time. I asked her to please put fresh acrylic on the tips of the nails and she looked at me confused but did it on two of the nails I pointed out but I didn't want to correct her on every nail. She puts it on so thick at the base then barely brushes it to the tip. I showed her one nail that she finished and pointed out where the acrylic ended and the tip was all nail with nothing on it. She brushed some acrylic over the top and kept going. Well here I am one week in and the tips of two nails are chipped. This has only happened the two times she did my nails. I am disappointed and won't be going back. Time to find a new favorite nail shop sadly. read more

So I decided to try a new nail shop, since an old male friend said his mother came from Bay Point to this shop. I'm like they must be good. ‍ wrong. Previous reviews about the owner, or workers there not helping out when the shop is busy is true. There owner and his wife left the day I was there to attend a wedding. I came just in time to get the attention I desire but to see people get turned away due to short staff or long waits was like thank God I came in when I did. I mean overall everything was okay but my complaint now is I have to go back to my regular nail shop because my toes are chipping. This is rare it normally takes more than a month for my toes to start chipping. I got my nails done on June 8th and my nails started chipping after like a week or two. I understand fingernails as you wash your hands regular but my toes?!?! And I'm getting lots of hang nails. They are pretty pricey and for my nails to chip and not last long not worth it clearly. I don't even have a popular color on so not sure why my toes are chipping so soon. read more

Phillip and Young are the best techs I've ever had. I've gotten my nails done at probably close to a hundred different shops from Hayward, Oakland, Richmond, Brentwood etc. I've tried so many nail shops throughout the entire Bay Area and Phillip Nails is the only shop that I go to from now own. I am extremely picky when it comes to the shape and technique of my nails and Phillip always does an excellent job. He takes his time and makes my nails look amazing after every fill. I used to get the acrylic with tips, but Phillip introduced me to just acrylic overlay. Now my nails are strong, long and beautiful. They have never chipped or broke off. There have been times where I go as long as five weeks out before my next fill due to my hectic work schedule, and my nails are still on and are still in great shape. Young does an amazing job on pedicures and she takes her time as well. Her pedicure massages are literally the best I've ever experienced, and she is always so sweet and accommodating when trying to make an appointment. The nail salon is beautifully set up with brand new appliances and tasteful decor. I always enjoy coming into a clean and welcoming environment. If you need a nail salon where you can relax and get exactly what you asked for, then this is the nail salon to go to. I've never had a bad experience ever since I started coming here and I will continue to support their business as long as they are doing nails. For the people who have written bad reviews, all I can say is that they are those people who are never satisfied and are probably always looking for a reason to complain. There will always be people who can not respect great work and are only thinking about themselves and not thinking about how these nail techs constantly work on other customers back to back without even a break just so that they can accommodate as many customers as they can. If Phillip and Young are trying to accommodate you and you just complain about every little thing, then you need to go somewhere where they do not care about the health of your nails or your experience. They are a very busy nail salon because they have LOYAL customers who understand the nail business and are willing to wait because they know they will always receive excellent work and service. If you are worried about time, then simply call and make an appointment, common sense. I called ahead for 3 appointments for my friends and I to come in after work and they were able to accommodate us perfectly fine. When we arrived, they helped us right away. This salon is super cute and welcoming. It is very clean as well. The owners are married and both very friendly. The wife (I didn't catch her name) did my nails. I asked for a fill and a simple color and she delivered. She did take awhile to do my fill but it just shows that she cares about her work and wants to make sure the nails look good. I paid $35 for a gel fill which is pretty standard. I was a little nervous to come here to be honest because when it was forever nails, it was HORRIBLE but man, this place is WAY BETTER. I am so happy I gave Phillip nails a chance because I love the way my nails came out, loved how nice and welcoming the owners were, and loved the fact that it's down the street from my house. This nail salon is great! I took my boyfriends mom for an early birthday present and we both got deluxe pedicures. The salon is super clean and quiet. "Yum" (pronounced 'yoom' I may have spelled it wrong) is who did my pedicure. She's super sweet and did a great job on my nails and gave a great massage.
