Philip nails. 1 out of 10 rating
Caitlin H.

Not only were they not what I asked for, but they've been sloppily put together, not even filed or shaped properly. I had to remind the nail tech to use primer before putting on the acrylic. Otherwise, they would just fall right off. Also, while trying to shape these, he definitely cut my cuticle. It is my birthday today and this had completely ruined my bday. Now I have to go find a different nail salon and pay even more money to have them fixed. I'm just so very, very disappointed if all nail techs could just be honest with what they can and cannot do then I would be happy. This is unacceptable . If I could give it a zero Stars I honestly would.

I am sad. I thought I was going to like this place until I saw the lady NOT wash the bowl my fingers were soaking in AND I got cut BAD by the cuticle cutter. I got a huge chunk of my skin cut off and my finger wouldn't stop bleeding the entire time. They kept wiping it with the towel they were doing my nails on. I had to ask for alcohol to decrease chances of infection. My blood was all over the towels and Q-tips. I hope they sanitized that station for the next customer. I bled through 4 bandaids. Once I got home I soaked my finger in hydrogen peroxide and applied antibiotic ointment in it. I told them I'll be back the next day to get that finger redone, but my finger is still hurting as the cut is pretty deep. And I don't know if I want to go back to get it done. No discount was offered for the inconvenience that happened, I'm quite traumatized now. I paid $39 for a gel manicure, deep cut, and an upper lip wax. This was my first time at this salon. Im just trying to find a salon that takes their time and pays attention to infection control.

Mani with regular polish I brought from home

Today was my second visit to Phillip's. First time was only for a pedi which was great at $28 and this time I did a mani and pedi but I opted for the $43 enhanced pedi. Next time I'll probably go back to the standard one because it didn't seem much different. I do want to give a shout out to Mia, she did both of my services. She took her time and did a really great clean and thorough job. I feel like a million bucks and can't wait to go back and see her again. Thanks, Mia!!

Cut in the middle finger! Fat square nails!

Decided to give this place a try as some of the reviews seemed good! I'm a very picky person, i'm going on vacay and my normal guy is booked up. I called this place same day and was able to be seen same day as well. The guy who did my nail was an older guy. Seemed like he was rushing thro the service. My nails look fat! I wanted square medium length which he did but it's like fat nails! Ima have to reshape it myself at home! How annoying is that! Over the phone the lady told me $30 for full set no color, after the service i was told $35 and then $1 extra dollar for using card instead of cash! Lame! the guy also cut the side of finger and didn't say anything about it! I'm so annoyed! Never again going here! I just these nails actually last me 3 weeks or so otherwise ima be pissed! Also some of the nails are sideways! I had him change two of it but didn't notice the other one until the end, whatever! waste of money at this place.

Phillip is THE BEST if you like long acrylics like myself. They're FLAWLESS every time, he's fast, and has a good price point.

I'm so happy to have chosen this salon because I'm obsessed with my nails! I chose a very simple, natural color to have every day and Sophia delivered. She was very careful with the nail drill and when I expressed that it felt hot at one point, she was more cautious afterwards. Cuticle removal was also meticulous and not once was I cut. The gel polish was applied evenly and there were no bubbles or unevenness which I appreciate--being picky with my nails. The salon itself was very clean and spacious, with many spa chairs for pedicures and manicure tables. I paid a total of $51 ($40 for gel mani, $10 soak off--with service, and $6 tip but 10% off when you pay cash) which is quite reasonable compared to other places anywhere in the bay. I will definitely be rebooking with Sophia and recommend her to anyone just looking for a great gel mani.

So a basic pedi was $53 without tip. So with tip you're looking at close to $60. For polish. Honestly, for that price you can get gel and probably a tip included at other salons. Their prices are $13 - 20 higher than other comparable salons, I don't mind paying extra for a specialty/ premium pedi but this is not the case . I'm not sure what justifies this high price, but I will not be coming back. *edit after business response : high sanitation practices should be standard and not considered a luxury. The prices are still higher than other salons.*

She is so patient, attentive, and truly takes her time to make sure everything is perfect. Anytime I show her an inspiration picture, she does her absolute best to recreate it--and she always delivers! As someone from Louisiana now living in the Contra Costa area, it was really hard for me to find a nail tech who meets my standards, but Dianna exceeded them. She's consistent, talented, and genuinely cares about her clients. If you're ever in the area and need a reliable, skilled nail tech, I highly recommend booking with Dianna--you won't be disappointed. She's usually the first one you'll see when you walk into the shop, and trust me, you'll be glad you chose her! Check out some of her work below--you'll see exactly why I keep coming back

If I had a choice it would be a 0 star rating. This was the most painful and worst pedicure I have…read moreever received. I don't know if the girl was new to the field or what? First, she was rough and was cutting my skin and poking me and causing me to bleed on many of my toes and nails! Especially my left pinky toe nail which she also used a cheese grater to remove callouses. I usually go for the deluxe treatment which they didn't use the grater on me at other places but this time I just ordered the callous treatment which was 38. so 20. cheaper. But the grater took off some of my skin not only callouses. Especially since the pinky toe area is sensitive. When she cut my nails I was wondering why she was cutting it so short and part of my skin as well. Then she proceeded to poke and prod and file the short nail down even more. After I kept getting hurt and saying ouch numerous times, I was debating maybe I should have got up and just left! But I am such a ninny, and polite that I stayed and thought it can't get much worse, it will be ok. It became a comedy of errors. It looked like a 3rd grader painted my nails and she kept fixing one nail but then accidentally touched the other nail on the other foot ruining the polish and had to keep going back and forth fixing it. You would think you would learn after 1 or 2 of these accidents, but she did it over and over I just started laughing bc it was comical! She was laughing too and saying sorry! Normally, when the polish comes off accidentally it was bc of me, not the nail salon person! Then I asked bc this was the first time I had a black border on the top and bottom edges and some side edges? I thought maybe it was bc I picked a light blush pink color and I never had that as usually I got French manicures which are even lighter in color! I didn't have my reading glasses so I couldn't see well, but she painted the edges more. Later when I got home I was looking over the black edges wondering why they were black? It was because of dried blood!!! She cut it too short causing it to bleed and poked and prodded further making it bleed. I guess it was underneath. Then that pinky on the left was red and inflamed and painful. So I don't know if it was hurting from irritation, or if it got infected!? Two days later it is still red and hurts. The cheese grater she took out didn't come out of any solution I was thinking I hope they sterilized it!? Anyway, this was closer to my house so I went there since it was the weekend and less busy there than my usual place. But definitely avoiding this place next time! Oh and another thing she had long, sharp nails as well and she would dig her nails into the edges as well. Just not a good experience all the way around. I still gave her a good tip( although I really was thinking I shouldn't but I think I'm just conditioned to do it now and thought well she did the work at least) and she lol looked surprised too! I hate to say this, I would avoid going here with all of these red flags and painful bleeding experience- I just never had that. I may have one or two ouches with an aggressive technician and I have a high pain tolerance, but this was the entire pedicure! I was thinking what a WASTE of my money and it didn't even look good like a little kid painted my nails!
