Not very happy with this organization. Placed an order in December 2020 and here it is March 2021 and still no chocolates. I realize the reasons may be due an unusually high demand or bad weather or a combination of both. By not communicating a specific delivery date is a really poor way of handling a customer. We kept waiting and waiting but still no specific date. Only vague responses. We're just disappointed as this was a gift for an elderly famous persons holiday gift as he loves chocolates. Was hoping to receive the chocolates in time for the holidays but they went by and we were still willing to wait a little longer. Never received and the store stopped responding to emails with no refund. Placed the order 11/29, emailed on 12/6 as no shipping info was sent. Received an email back that they would ship 12/12, they did not. I emailed 12/14 that we had not heard anything, and that I would like to cancel the order and receive a refund if they were not scheduled to arrive by 12/16. They shipped 12/14 anyway (delivery attempted 12/18) and are now stuck somewhere with FedEx, as we are out of town for the holidays. I absolutely do not mind paying for an expensive treat or indulgence; that being said I do however expect a WOW "that was really good" or better yet; "that was amazing". These were NOT an explosion of flavors as I was expecting. I was very excited to try these after hearing the ravings of celebrities and all the hype on the southern flavors. I got both the Memphis and the Soul Food Collections which did arrive within about 8 days Great marketing, packaging and chocolates are beautiful, but you really have to search to find the flavor. Chocolate is smooth, but so is Dove. When they say flavored with whiskey, coffee, peanut butter, or banana pudding, that should be easy to taste...not "well maybe...yeah a little I guess". Well anyways, $146.00 later I can say I won't be a repeat customer and I'd actually be happier with a bag of Lindt Dark Chocolate-Raspberry truffles, Ferrero Rocher or a Russel Stover assortment. Actually any of my local chocolate shops would win hands down in a blind taste test. You should be able to tell what the flavor is or be able to come pretty close... not have to look up the flavor to see what it is that they are trying to portray. read more

We were watching David Muir on the news when he promoted small businesses for christmas gifts. we ordered a gift for some friends of ours in December, too late for the christmas rush, but still. Wanting to treat my Charming Companion with a sweet last Saturday we walked over to Philip Ashley. I enjoyed scanning the interesting flavor combinations and marveling over the aesthetic appeal of these treats while my extra-special decided which ones he would get to take home. Having enjoyed similar special treats in Berkeley, Ca at Blue on 4th Street I was curious which I would like better. Their phone line is unable to take messages. There was a point they offered to cancel the order for and gift card of an additional $20., you could then reorder but couldn't write a critical review of them on Yelp. I ordered my chocolates on December 18, 2020 and have yet to receive them as of April 30, 2021. Emails are eventually replied to with group blasts asking everyone to be patient. I've asked for a refund twice. Phone calls are met with a full voicemailbox. We're told to be patient and not inquire about orders while they concentrate on making then chocolates. Zero customer service, while I expect that their walk in and corporate accounts are being serviced promptly and given their full attention. The messaging about the COVID delays was fine at first but noting since a general June 14th email which said 80% of the back-orders had been filled and a new customer service rep would be contacting those that had not received their order. Chocolate...once you do 1 thing well, this is what they do! So much eye appeal. Beautiful colors and the smooth shiny gloss like glass texture. Never thought these fine chocolate creations was right in our own town. Tasty, creamy, and delightful. These chocolates were paired with champagne and bourbon. Flavors of their chocolates could be from the sweet to savory. They are very creative with flavors and can make whatever flavor you desire. Anything you could probably imagine and also created to pair with any and all wines, liquors and other beverages. Phillip Ashley has got it going on. I attended a tasting event tonight at Phillip Ashley Chocolates and got a chance to have a global experience through taste and sound. Phillip guided us through the history of his business and how he decides where to source his ingredients. We received champagne with our first sample, a coconut infused white chocolate with Meyer lemon. The coconut flavor was derived from coconut milk and there were no flakes, just creamy goodness with a kick of lemon. The next chocolate featured Stolen "smoked" rum and was served with a shot of the rum. The rum truly had a smoky flavor and had a bite going down and then it smoothed out. The rum was very present in the chocolate sample that was provided. It was also very creamy with a shortbread cookie base. We rounded out our tasting with more champagne and a black & blue chocolate that had a goat's milk caramel filling. I had such an enjoyable time that I only got one picture! I'm not sure I've ever had the opportunity to visit a chocolatier. To be honest I don't think I've had custom, fine chocolates to date in my life. I'm in Memphis visiting friends and this was a must stop on our list. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to visit. I was told the location is new, and it was a great space. I loved the brick walls, metal tables, and beautiful display of chocolates. We were greeted with smiles by two staff members who gave us the rundown of the chocolates. The chocolates are beautiful to look at and the selection of flavors is mind blowing. It was fun to pick and choose the different flavors. I went with a four pack of a new salted Carmel flavor, wild strawberry vanilla bean, lavender vanilla bean, and cookies and cream. I was a little hesitant thinking you wouldn't taste the chocolate with the exotic flavors but the ratio is just right to still get the rich chocolate taste. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to visit Memphis' king of chocolates and will definitely check their online shop for future orders! read more

Received my order on Tuesday. The packaging was professionally done. The candy itself looks a lot different from previous advertising in December 2020. The candy was delicious, but definitely not worth the amount of $$. I upgraded to 3 stars from 1 star because of my personal time spent trying to acquire this product. I ordered the turtles also for Christmas 2020. I understand they sold out and we had to wait to receive them. Fast forward to 9/20/2021 and I just got them. They gave me a gift card worth $35 more than my first order if I didn't request a refund and would wait for my order which I agreed to. So when I was finally able to order the turtles it cost me my original purchase price plus a shipping charge of $25 that was suppose to include ice blocks. Well it did but they weren't even cold let alone frozen. On top of that the gift card didn't even cover my original order cost for 6 turtles as I had to pay an additional $4 on my credit card.
