I've heard so many good things about this place so I thought I'd pop in for a little treat. They had the place decorated for the fall season and Halloween. I was quickly greeted and assisted by staff that were very happy to share a little history of this place with me. They even had Butterscotch hard candy! I came for chocolate but I love butterscotch! I purchased a dark and a milk chocolate salted caramel and a bag of butterscotch. The salted caramel was very good, the depth of flavor from the caramel is beautifully done, not just one note. The butterscotch was also good but I was informed that they don't make it , they get it from a vendor. I will definitely visit them again. read more

I recently dropped by the Dinstuhl's Laurelwood location in order to pick up some treats for a grieving friend whose mother had died. This was my very first time visiting this particular location. The store was conveniently open at 10:00 a.m., on the dot, and the lady at the counter was kind, knowledgeable, and provided me with excellent service. There was a large selection of chocolates and other treats to choose from. I selected two items for my friend, and I also ended up getting something for myself. I was impressed that this shop refrigerated their mixed nuts! What a good way to prevent the nut oils from becoming rancid. I'm glad that they recognize members of Theatre Memphis. I highly recommend this shop, and plan on returning. read more

Every visit I feel like I'm in the real deal "Willy wonka chocolate factory " I lose my mind in this place!! I love chocolate and it is VERY HARD for me to walk out with just one item! I absolutely LOVE the chocolate covered strawberries. These are a seasonal item, but that does not stop me from visiting. Anything I pick is good, I've tried fudge, almonds, truffles, and more! Ohhh the truffles....y'all, if you have NOT had a truffle please go by and try one. They are so good, they are a nice size and just decadent! The strawberries are juicy ( I got a tip about waiting a few days to let the strawberries "marinate)", this tip was provided because they had been made the day prior, that's the best way I can describe it . I make a visit a few times a year, this is definitely a place where I would go daily so I have to pace myself and use it as a treat. They have other items to purchase, but I am there for chocolate. Lots of beautiful candies to choose from! The shelves were still fully stocked a day before Christmas Eve and they were still making more in the back! I will say that we felt rushed in our choices but that is possible to be expected around that time. The honeycomb (which was new to us) was really fun to eat! The texture was so different and strange but in a good way! Definitely loved the pecan clusters! My husband gifted me a box of their chocolate covered strawberries, a beautiful bouquet of a dozen long stem roses in a very heavy and elegant chic vase and a yummy large heart shaped sugar cookie for Valentine's Day and I must say this is the finest chocolate covered strawberries I've ever had and I've had a lot! Their chocolate is premium quality and they even layer the inside between the chocolate and the strawberry with a cream that is divine. Their shortbread cookie was also very fresh and delicious and not overly sweet. I have so many great things to say about this place- they truly have the best chocolate and I'm so glad my husband opened my eyes to this establishment. Even the roses in the vase was beautifully arranged. I can't wait to visit the store myself and to try their other items! Guys: get your girl chocolates from here. We got their custom made chocolate from one of the local businesses and love it. Decide to just give chocolates for Christmas this year. I ordered through yelp, and decided to pick up myself to save $2.99. What a terrible idea (for my waistline)!! The store is clean. Floors are marked with blocks for distancing. Recently I wanted a special custom order for some of the higher end gourmet fruit flavored candies that they do not make themselves (and as such were not on their eCommerce site). One brief email was promptly returned by their Operations Manager Marissa. I got everything I needed individually packaged according to my specific requirements and nicely gift wrapped for Thanksgiving presents. I just cannot say enough how much I appreciate that level of attention to detail, the customer service being as sweet as the candy itself. I must take very strong exception to the single one star review and two star review I see here from someone who obviously has never been here. Anyone from Oxnard California. like Kary V below., literally 2+K miles west of Memphis on the IH40, who gives a one star review to a candy store in Tennessee while mentioning the left (west) coast based See's candy is obviously a disreputable Internet Troll....especially when they only have five reviews just enough to get their smear deemed as recommended by yelp. That two star review is a real piece of creative writing also, pure fiction, they do not sell anything here for $3.25 per piece and compare a candy store to a defunct bakery for CUPCAKES unless you have a thinly veiled agenda. Dinstuhl's does not even sell cakes ??? Speaking as a former Shelby County native who has patronized both establishments, See's and Dinstuhl's, there is no comparison between the two, Dinstuhl's chocolates are much better because their production batches are significantly smaller and the product both in the stores and online is fresher. Years ago See's used to be something special out here in California but that ship has long since sailed with their 500+ and still growing list of franchised locations. These days See's is just another faceless corporation. They manufacture all of their product out here in Los Angeles County but have eight locations in New York City alone not to mention half of Asia and the middle east. Give me a break. Contrast this with Dinstuhl's. Only three storefronts all with very high traffic, a nice website, and proper Southern hospitality still alive and well. The merchandise turns quickly and is always fresh. The price per pound varies with Dinstuhl's chocolates in accordance with the ingredients while See's charges a top dollar fixed per pound price for everything (no matter how old or stale it is). When I order online from Dinstuhl's I receive a vastly superior product promptly shipped and well packaged at a lower cost. You can just taste the difference, their fudge is much better than See's and literally half the price. @Kary V. don't quit your second job you are going to need it when See's lays off half their staff every January as they never fail to. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I'm not huge into sweets, but going into this store totally gives you that "kid in a candy store" feeling. I went in to buy some Cherry Cordials and Turtles. I walked out with those, a bunch of truffles (which were absolute chocolatey heaven), and a giant chocolate turkey (total hit at Thanksgiving). One gem that I will definitely be investing in next holiday season is one of their gingerbread creations. They make houses of all sizes and even had this amazing carousel thing that was awesome. This is my favorite candy company in Memphis. It's a quaint little store, with more than one location, selling a variety of your basic chocolates and fruity candies. Try their chocolate-covered strawberries. While very pricey, they can be found for a fraction of the price if they've made too many -- just remember to eat them quickly (no problem). I like going there for their jelly fruit slices -- they're slightly more expensive than other places that I've had them, but they taste fresher. read more

I've had two great experiences here at two different locations. One was at at their Laurelwood location where my husband and I were in the area. We went inside and the staff we welcoming as they set up their Christmas decorations. We got some truffles, which were delicious and they told us about their open house. The second was at their open house on Pleasant View. They only do this twice a year, so to say the least it was a treat. We waited in line for about 10 minutes as the flow of the store moved along. Once we got inside the building, we tried spiced cider and my daughter got a picture with Santa. Then we were able to try an assortment of candies while seeing their facility. The front of the store was packed but reasonably so. I ended coming back later to buy my family pecan chocolate fudge, toffee, chocolate bars which some have coupons and little candies. It was a great experience and you get 20 percent off the day of open houses. So I saved and got to give my family a tradition for next year. read more
