Interesting restaurant and one we will come back again! Our waitress, Shayla, was exceptional. We ordered the Peking Duck and Bejing Chicken. The Duck was good but not great. Would have been better if it were crispier and less fatty! For the price, would not order again. The Bejing Chicken was by far the best chicken dish we have ever had and is the reason we would return. Ordered the Pork Dumplings and they were fabulous. I had one cocktail and my wife had two, not our favorites so perhaps a good glass of white wine next time. Overall good not great. read more

Service: We constantly felt like we were being rushed. Someone came to ask if we wanted the rest of our appetizers not long after we got them. We were still actively chewing with utensils in hand. A few minutes after that, it was declared that the Peking duck we preordered was ready and was going to be brought out. We were still working on our appetizers at this time. They didn't care and had us move the remaining food from the shared plates onto our personal plates so they could make room for the duck. The green beans we ordered to eat with our duck did not come for another 15min or so. Our waitress offered to change our plates after we had just shoved all our remaining appetizers onto our existing plates. We declined since we did not want to reshuffle our food once again. Food: Honey Glazed Baby Back Ribs: 1/5 Skip. Meat was stuck to the bone and bland. Grand Walnut Sesame Prawns: 3/5 tastes like childhood. Peking duck: 4/5 only Peking duck I know of in Nashville. Duck was a bit fattier than I expected but flavor profile and accompaniments were nice. We have been twice. The horrible, loud music was a turn off both times. It doesn't fit the atmosphere, more like club music. Thankfully the food makes up for the lousy, loud play list. It's pretentious, with a dress code, but the employees are down to earth and super friendly. We don't order Chinese cuisine most places and definitely not in TN. We grew up in a city with a with a China Town. We were excited to try Philippe Chow to have Chinese cuisine after none for years and it didn't disappoint. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday with a party of seven, hoping for a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone. Unfortunately, it turned out to be incredibly disappointing and, honestly poor quality. . I don't like giving bad reviews because I understand the impact they can have on a restaurant. I try to be fair and understanding which is why I waited 24 hours to think about the message in my review. However, this experience, particularly the manager's lack of responsiveness and professionalism deserves honest feedback. The food, especially the signature fried rice and other rice dishes, completely missed the mark. The flavors were off, the quality was questionable, and one diner at our table even said her rice tasted spoiled, which was very concerning. After dining, we looked at previous reviews and noticed similar complaints about taste and quality, so this did not seem like an isolated issue. We shared our concern about the food quality. She stated she would have the manager come to our table. When the manager arrived, she came to the table defensive. "I heard you wanted to see a manager" which was not the case. Our table made it very clear that we were not seeking compensation and just wanted to offer constructive feedback. Unfortunately, her response made the situation significantly worse. From the start, her energy was loud, defensive, dismissive, and overwhelmingly negative. She seemed more focused on assuming we were trying to get a free meal and she refused to listen to what we were saying. The manager's lack of responsiveness and hostile tone made productive communication nearly impossible. Instead of professionalism or accountability, we were met with confrontation. We tried to tell her with kindness what the issues were including possibly spoiled rice. The more we tried to show kindness the more the reaction from her became antagonist. I finally just asked her to bring the check and clear the table so we could leave. She then rudely demanded they we give her more specifics. At this point, not sure what else we can tell her other than the part of the rice was mushy and part was hard and overcooked, greasy and possibly spoiled. Since she pressed rudely for additional detail "because no other guests have complained tonight", my husband finally responded, "I will tell you what the problem is...it was just nasty. I have had better at a convenience store." She took offense to that as well and we continued repeated our request for her to just bring us our check so that we could leave. It is so unfortunate to see a manager assume this type of hostility and level of rudeness because the restaurant has potential. But until both the food quality and management's approach to customer feedback improve, I will not return or recommend it. read more

The host promptly moved us to a more comfortable/intimate standard table. Our waitress was very nice and attentive; however, the food was very average. The Pear & Arugula Salad was very delicious. The chicken dumplings were okay. My kung pao chicken was good, but honestly glorified mall food. Bok Choy was a solid veggie choice. From front desk seated us next to a party of 16 with guests mingling standing up while half the restaurant was empty, it showed a lack of care from service. We had to ask to be reseated, which shouldn't be needed with high-end service was sadly isn't. Our miso salmon ordered medium well came more medium to rare that the manager claimed could be refired in 3 minutes. Unfortunately far from 3 minutes and came back beyond well and lacking in miso. Sadly miso salmon at Cheesecake Factory is far better. The final dud was being overcharged on our drinks that we had to have server correct. If you're looking for high-end Chinese restaurant, this experience was far from that. Disappointment but sadly the mixed reviews on here are accurate. Fantastic Chinese food has finally arrived in Nashville! The restaurant was packed, yet the service remained impeccable. The atmosphere is warm and energetic, and the space itself is beautiful. There's also a stunning bar at the center--perfect for those without a reservation who want to enjoy a cocktail or dine solo. We started with the walnut shrimp, which was excellent in flavor and included six large shrimp. I would have appreciated two more to make the entrée feel complete, but the highlight of the evening was, without question, the incredible duck. I have had Peking duck several times and this was the best I have EVER had. It was truly phenomenal. The pancakes were thin and ideal for wrapping the duck, which was succulent, juicy, and bursting with flavor--five stars for the duck alone! The tableside presentation added a fun and memorable touch. I took the remaining duck home and was pleasantly surprised that it reheated beautifully--still flavorful and moist, and even the pancakes held up well. While some may hesitate because of the price point, the duck is generous enough to serve about six people or four very hungry diners. The bok choy was also perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I can't wait to return--whether solo or with friends. Great Chinese food is something Nashville has truly needed! One suggestion: It would be amazing if the restaurant offered dim sum once a week or even twice a month. A Chinese brunch option would fill another big gap in Nashville's dining scene. Honestly food was okay. Chinese food with a 60% up charge and no flavors that surprised me. Didn't offer chilli, soy sauce, or any toppings to personalize the bland dishes. Plus my husband got food poisoning off a pickled onion in the raw yellowtail dish. I spit it out as it tasted rancid, but he rallied through the bite. Hopes were high when I had to change a Rez and heard back so quickly and professionally from the restaurant manager. Our waitress was helpful and patient, especially considering the fact that a person in our party was apparently allergic to soy sauce....,yes, in a Chinese restaurant....we wondered: Dude! Why did you agree to come to a Chinese restaurant with a soy allergy? That said, the kitchen and waitress did a great job setting him up with some red snapper that he loved. My wife and I were not so lucky. Our cocktails were inventive and delicious but our kung pao chicken and shrimp entrees were over-breaded and over-cooked, dry and rubbery, and they were listed as signature dishes. Sautéed bok choy was bland and limpid with no flavor. The shrimp fried rice, however, was a delicious umami bomb. Whole meal cost us $300 (no dessert) for a party of 3, and that did not include the $20 for valet. All in all, a very sexy and beautiful restaurant whose food is not worth the price. read more

Picture setting up your 20th anniversary dinner. Telling the restaurant that you are celebrating it with your children (14, 11,11 years old). Your sister is in town for work. She's coming too. Exciting. Someone tells you about a new Chinese place downtown to try. Excellent. Reservations are 7pm. You rush there after your son's basketball game. Charges $18 to park. Get in at 7. Told they are setting up your table. At 7:18pm exhausted after work and games the manager comes out and says you can't be sat because you don't meet the dress code because one of your kids is wearing sweatpants. Mind you he thought these were cool because they matched his shoes. Dos we feel slightly underdressed? Sure. I had a hat on. Would've happily taken it off. The manager says we could go change and he'll still sit us when we get back. I live in Brentwood, this is downtown. He's clearly not from here. On top of it one of the staff was wearing crocs. What a sad pretentious place. When he said to change he mentioned our hotel. Clearly this is only for tourist. Clearly they don't get Tennessee. If you're local avoid this wanna be spot.
