I usually work with Lacey, who is absolutely amazing, but this time my hair was done by Cindy. Cindy did a great job of not only giving me the exact haircut I was looking for, but also keeping good conversation! She is so personable and I was greatful to get to meet her. They also sell a variety of products that I love! I grabbed some of their mouse because it makes your hair so silky, shiny and soft! I saw information on next-door from hairstylist Lucas, which intrigued me I reached out to him with my 4653 questions m, he replied quickly!! He then reached out and helped me secure an appointment - once made I received several reminders (I love reminders!!) and headed in there today for my appointment. I was greeted by a lovely puppy in an extremely clean salon. The space is aesthetically pleasing. Open spaces, but not loud, the wash station was so comfortable I almost fell asleep! They only use quality products, I asked before making the appointment - and the products used were gluten-free, a requirement that I need. Lucas asked me 1000 questions, and did a great job overall. He was personable, friendly, and chatty - exactly what you want in someone doing your hair :-) . I've got course wavy hair & have settled for 'close enough' asymmetric bobs from past stylists thinking it just wasn't possible. I was exploring Jacksonville beach when I come across this salon. When I walked in I was very impressed with the shop/products being used. My skin type is on the sensitive side. Having reactions to products has just been my life but this salon had no problematic products. I was told if you were interested in products that if you don't want to be wasteful they can refill the bottle for you at the salon. I love that the hair in the salon is all recycled and doesn't waste in a landfill somewhere. My stylist was Erin. I told her I wanted a Joan Jett mullet and she did not disappoint. This was my daughter's 18th birthday gala held at a venue and we made an appointment several weeks before to have her hair done. I won't even give this review one star but they make you select a rating so let's be perfectly clear that the actual rating is ZERO, no stars!! We traveled from Kingsland to Jacksonville Beach and ran into a bit of traffic. Out of common courtesy I called the hair salon, no one answered the phone mind you and ended up reaching their answering machine so I left Jesse Shreves a voicemail message informing him of the traffic we ran into and we were going to be running late. To tell you the truth I've never been so disgusted with the type of attitude and cold shoulder that we received from the hairdresser Jesse Shreves when we arrived late on Friday, Nov 19, 2021 for my daughter's Styling & Flat/Curling Iron scheduled appointment from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Jesse's piss poor excuse was that we were late and he had another client after us. OK?! So we still had an hour and a half window of our scheduled appointment for him to do something yet he did not offer anything and just turned us away. We had a scheduled appointment from 3 to 5 PM!!! Why even make the appointment?! Especially if this is the kind of crappie service or attitude you're going to get. Unbelievable!!! As we drove away my daughter was devastated and burst into tears that she was not going to get her hair done for her party. Hope you're proud of yourself Jesse Shreves of making a young lady cry on a very important day for her. No compassion or understanding, apparently this is the type of service you will get from Phi Eco Salon staff. Shameful!! After consoling my daughter and calmly her down, I reminded her that she still had her makeup appointment and that her grandmother, whom did hair for years could do her hair. Thank God we had her make up artist appointment with Kaitlin Francois of Boss Makeup Artistry, not only did Kaitlin offer to do her hair, she did a phenomenal job with both my daughter's hair and makeup!!!! Kaitlin saved the day!! Bottom line is Phi Eco Salon will never have the opportunity to service us again or any of my friends or family as I will not recommend this salon to anyone ever!!! Since moving to St. Augustine I was afraid to try a new salon as you never know what you're gonna get. I've had some pretty stressful times trying to get someone that: one, knows what their doing and two, listens to what you want. I lucked out when I got Eric at Phi. He was awesome and easy to talk to. He listened to me and made me feel comfortable. We went over color options and he was patient with me to figure out exactly what I was going for. The place was clean and well maintained. The decor is really eclectic and unique. I have a very hard time finding people that know what to do with curly hair but Carissa cut every curl individually transforming my long hair into a cute short cut. Carissa is more of an artist than stylist - passionate about what she does and it shows...after trying many salons and stylists she finally got my color right and she knows all about curly, wavy and hard to tame hair. I had a pretty bad experience here. I was so excited to try the salon. As a vegan, I really place a lot of value on companies that try to do what's right for animals and the environment. I said I only wanted a tiny bit cut off at least 6 times. Ashley showed me that she was only going to cut the very tips off. I thought we were on the same page. When I looked at the floor and noticed there were pieces cut that were at least 4 inches in length my heart sank. I have really been struggling with getting my hair to grow out and this has really set me back. Although she appeared to agree with me and said she would cut my hair how I wanted it, she disregarded my request to for just a simple trim of the ends. She cut the front very short and by the time I noticed the long pieces of hair on the floor it was too late. I have never complained at a salon before . But this is one of the most disappointing experiences I've ever had with a simple haircut. I emailed the salon to let them know about the experience and no one even bothered to reply. I moved to this area and have been looking for someone to do my hair for 2 years. I have gone to a few different salons and I was never thrilled with the results. Carissa is amazing! Definitely an artist as the other reviewer said. I feel lucky to have found her and the salon is great. A side note, I have a lot of trouble with color that smells too chemically, And gives me sinus infections. Whatever she used on my hair did not bother me one bit.
